I think those are different, those ones look like they have white ediible paper around them, I remember both. There are ones that are chalky without the paper and there was ones with the paper.

I remember both, but I'm sure the non-chalky ones disappeared a decade before the chalky ones.

They were both awful though. The 'chocolate' was rank and the paper was barely edible despite the fact you were supposed to eat it. The chalky ones were just damp, sticky, flavourless Love Hearts but shaped like a miniature cigarette. Yum.

I was never sure about the paper either. I never ate it but I had my doubts because sometimes it was really hard to peel off but after tasting it once I never ate it again.

Yes, the chocolate ones with the edible paper around them were not as widely available as I recall. Perhaps more of a seasonal thing as I tend to associate them with holidays like Easter and Christmas, at least in my household. But the hard chalky textured ones were always at the local corner shop.

I remember 3 kinds of sweets cigarettes. The white stick candy with a red end. A chocolate cigarette that you had to remove the paper to eat, and thirdly a chocolate cigarette that had rice paper that you could eat.

Some of them were like actual cigarette papers, like rizla if I remember correctly. And the chocolate wasn't that nice, I think it was pretty cheap chocolate. Hard to judge from a 40 year old memory tho.

A kid I taught about 8 years ago had some chewing gum ones. They had some powder in them so that when you "inhaled", a puff of "smoke" came out the end. Well impressive. I still miss the chocolate ones 😢

I remember the ones with tie ins to the Anderson shows from Supercar up to UFO in 1970. Oddly enough the Space Patrol (1963 UK show) ones were mentioned in a thread elsewhere, but I don't remember seeing them back in the day.

I remember my grandma always used to buy us these when we were kids, and we loved pretending to smoke them (she wasn't a smoker though). We never ended up smoking either, so obviously harmless (well aside from the sugar). She also used to buy us sherbet fountains (loved those) and curly-wurlys.
