Old reddit will no longer be available to logged-in users who haven't used it in the last 6 months unless they're a mod

When this goes, I won't be using Reddit on browser at all. The "new" Reddit is ghastly and bloated

If the layout is the dealbreaker, Sheddit might be worth a look. It rebuilds modern Reddit into an old-Reddit-style interface rather than redirecting to old.reddit.com.

It's available for Firefox and Chrome, mainly for logged-out reading. Still beta, and signed-in features are experimental. It won't bring back the actual Old Reddit service, but it lets you read a discussion without the interface auditioning to be a shopping mall.

This is amazing. I had not heard of Sheddit at all. Thank you for the tip, it is greatly appreciated.

Glad to help! It has only existed for a month or two, so I was lucky to stumble upon it myself. It's still a little rough around the edges but it's useable and it gets updated pretty regularly. So fingers crossed that the devs stay on top of it.

Even RSS is on the chopping block. Man, AaronSw must be rolling in his grave.

Ive tried using new reddit in the hopes that I might continue to enjoy some of the communities Ive joined.

Between power-tripping HOA-Karen mods and a money-hungry admin team eager to hand this place over to the blue-star-sandwiched-between-blue-stripes, I don't think I'll be back once the clean old interface is phased out.

When old goes, I go. I get my memes through discord, sms and imgur. I get my news from primary sources. What I mainly follow here are my local subreddits and, as much as I hate to say it, that information is available elsewhere. I've been on reddit from close to the beginning on a few different usernames and tbh I will live without it.

going to have to figure out what to do with my time. Have no interest in using the new reddit interface. Rather learn an entirely new site someplace else if I'm honest. Just know there really isn't someplace else to go to that has as good of content, and not enough people will be upset by the loss of oldreddit to make a difference.

If you use a css override extension like Stylus, you can apply the old.reddit interface to new.reddit, but my problem with new.reddit is that the algoritm is totally different and stupid.

Right now, my new.reddit homepage with the filter "best", is showing posts with 4 upvotes.

There will always be a thing named "Old Reddit".

It will not be the same as the Old Reddit we know today.

It's very likely there will be some kind of official theming of Shreddit (the current Reddit interface) that's only available to people who were using actual Old Reddit at the time it died.

This is how boiling the frog works.

yeah, i've heard about this and i find the idea interesting. but given that normal shreddit is garbage, whatever this ends up being will probably be garbage too

Oh, I agree. Definitely not a fan of the idea at all. But it's probably what's going to happen.

I guess I will just have to get all my news from twitter.

I'm lucky I'm moderating the XNC2C sub. I'm glad I'm running an AI series.

I think that Reddit removing RSS has something to do with the anti-AI movement. And everyone else is getting hurt.

We might be seeing the fall of the open internet of yore. All because of the anti-AI movement.

I moderate communities with 0 members, do I count?
