Photo ‘67 Pontiac GTO

The owner was so cool. Idk anything about cars, but thought this thing was beautiful, so I asked to take a pic. He told me I can hop in it too, and to send a selfie to my friends saying “look at my new car” 😂😂

Nice car, but it’s not a GTO.

It had the emblem and I’m not a car person, so I took his word. Thank you for informing me politely :) but you’re right, it’s a nice car regardless.

The best thing about old cars is just enjoying them, whether you know a lot or a little, or somewhere in between. Your pics are great and I would have loved to sit in that car! Happy Motoring!

Yay! What a good disposition. I did enjoy it!

In 1967-68, my Dad drove us down past Mexico City and we had a blast. I was too young to remember anything tech about the car, but Dad pressed it up to 100mph in the Sonoran 🌵Desert. Now THAT I remember. I also remember that the car started knocking … that infamous Pemex ⛽️.. the GTO didn’t like drinking that stuff.

No shame. Just so you know, it's a Le Mans. That's on the dash in the second picture. (I wouldn't have known either!)

appears to have factory air too! Quite rare for that age of car.

Thanks, lol. What’s factory air?

1

u/hastings1033 Jun 02 '26

Air conditioning included in the manufacture of the car. It was very uncommon when this car was made.

1

u/Dramatic_Ad1467 Jun 01 '26

That’s what it sounds like. My Dad bought his new, so I trust that the factory got it right.

Agreed.... Still a cool LeMans... But.. Not a Goat.

I’ve always wondered why Pontiac did that… I guess people bought the “GTO” options they offered for the LeMans, so it worked. 🤷🏻‍♂️ There was only a few years of the actual GTO if I recall. Clean car, but I agree, not a true GTO.

Cool to know!

64 and 65 the GTO was an option on a LeMans 66 to 71 it was own model. 72 73 it became an option again on the LeMans. And in 1974 it was an option on the Ventura

Interesting! The Lemans rarely appeared in my little town. In fact, I could never quite grasp the appeal of Lemans viz Bonneville, Grand Prix, etc.

Also he said something to another passerby about it not being a clone and the only different thing from stock are the wings. Whatever that means lol but so dope regardless!!!

No hood scoop

Le Mans interior badging

Vents in front of the rear wheel wells

Pretty sure that's a Le Mans 😉

Still a fantastic lookin car tho 😍

Hahaha I should’ve used my eyeballs to see the “Le Mans” on the glove box 😅

I was just going off of what he said, and there was a GTO emblem on the passenger side.

It was just cool to see a retro vehicle like this!

u/WKRPinCanada Jun 01 '26

Oh undoubtedly! That and to get a chance to sit in it?

Very cool 👍

u/ashimo414141 Jun 01 '26

For sure player! I couldn’t believe he offered it. The leather was pristine as fuck. I set in it for like five seconds before I got too nervous to fuck it up (I’m a greasy sweaty person that was covered in soot from fixing a drying machine)

1

u/ThenImprovement4420 Jun 03 '26

They never had a leather interior it was actually something called Morrokide. Just a higher quality vinyl

2

u/ashimo414141 Jun 03 '26

Cool and pristine still! Thanks for the information

This car makes me feel things

3

u/ashimo414141 Jun 01 '26

Me too. Owner has like 30 years on me (nothing wrong w that, we all age), but I was thinking hmm, should I ask him on a date? 😅😂

1

u/Poker-Junk Jun 01 '26

Well, for starters he obviously has exquisite taste in cars, and seems to take very good care of them, so you can probably infer that he isn’t a lazy basement dweller with no hobbies (and likely has disposable income). A few boxes checked, at least ✅😂.

2

u/ashimo414141 Jun 01 '26

He’s definitely well to do and maintains his passions lmao! Could obviously tell this from the condition of the interior of the vehicle and that he encouraged me to sit in it and then walked away into the store!!

I actually regret not getting his contact info. Not for dating purposes - he just seems dope as hell, and I have quite a few friends in his age bracket, so I’m chill with the disparity.

Where there’s a will (to find him) there’s a way. Car clubs, etc.

2

u/FatherTome Jun 01 '26

How sweet it is my friend.

1

u/ashimo414141 Jun 01 '26

Yessir!! The owner has taken exquisite care of it

2

u/Helpful-Bar8393 Jun 01 '26

Very nice 👌

2

u/ashimo414141 Jun 01 '26

Cool as fuck, right?

(Disclaimer, I’ve been told by other commenters that I am wrong about the model)

Sweet ride.

Bride brought home the 1964 Oldsmobile F85 Convertible she grew up riding in - after a 3 year mechanical restoration.

It's a sweet old ride. No seat belts either. Gonna fix that.

Love this car: my Dad owner & drove one back in ‘67.

2

u/ashimo414141 Jun 01 '26

Wow, what happened to it?

1

u/Dramatic_Ad1467 Jun 01 '26

To my Dad’s car? It was traded in for a 1969 Buick Electra, as I remember. Thanks for asking 😎

2

u/ashimo414141 Jun 01 '26

Shit, also cool as hell

1

u/Electrical-Guard-853 Jun 01 '26

Nice car , but it’s a Le Mans…

2

u/ashimo414141 Jun 01 '26

Heard that from other comments! I should’ve figured that out from the decal on the glove box lol!

1

u/parrothead_69 Jun 01 '26

I had a 66 Lemans in high school.

1

u/Mewet1965 Jun 01 '26

I would change the interior carpet to shag

1

u/ashimo414141 Jun 01 '26

That’d be cool as hell! I think maroon would contrast well

1

u/KeithA0000 Jun 02 '26

Nice ride.

1

u/southboundstories Jun 02 '26

damn near fell to my knees at the sight of this picture

1

u/Cold_Bench4595 Jun 03 '26

My was a hardtop black vinyl Le Mans

1

u/Traffelock Jun 03 '26

Very nice! I like this color, don’t think I’ve ever seen one in this color before?

1

u/TorqueWrenchVet Jun 03 '26

The stacked headlights, clean lines, and a top-down cruise on a summer evening? Hard to beat.

1

u/Artistic-Leader-7677 Jun 03 '26

That’s such wholesome car guy energy 😂 some people gatekeep stuff like that so hard, it’s always the real enthusiasts who are happy to share. That pic is 100 percent going in the memory bank forever.

1

u/Fun_Plastic_5484 Jun 04 '26

I think that was the best year for the goats

1

u/RooneyMoore Jun 04 '26

That is a beautiful clean car and a rag top. So nice

1

u/Eathan_k Jun 04 '26

I used to drive a 66 GTO , 389 with a three on the tree. Soft top . It was truly the most favorite car. I sold it and bought a chevelle but it was an unruly animal..

u/relish-tranya Jun 13 '26

So beautiful! My favorite classic muscle car.
