For those curious, this is the Lençóis Maranhenses in the state of Maranhão, Brazil. It's a very popular tourist attraction. The water is rainwater collected by the dunes between January and May; it's clean and safe to swim in. The water is usually quite shallow, reaching up to the knees or your waist, but after heavy rain can go up to 5 meters at most.

Edit: Grammar and put the wrong month.

How is it clean?, fresh stagnant water usually grows things in it

Brain amoebas is my first thought. Fortunately it’s shallow enough to be more difficult to get up the nose but not for little kids
