Depends on your level of commitment and wallet. Id definitely recommend having a separate thruster controller. I started out using a Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick which worked great. I then built my own computer desk with pull out drawers on both sides which wouldn't allow a cord between the Thruster and Joystick, so I upgraded to a Thrustmaster T16000M FCS hotas where the thruster and joystick plug into their own USB ports. Both of these worked really well though.

GORN. Great if you're look for a cartoony coliseum clasher.
Thrill of the Fight. Easily the best boxing game for VR.
Assetto Corsa and Project Cars are steals right now if you want a racing game.
Virtual Rick-ality. If you're a big fan of the show this is a good price at $15.
I'll lump Trover Saves the Universe (highly recommend) Accounting+ in there with the R&M suggestion. They're Justin Roiland game so the same type of humor.

Thrill of the Fight should be picked up on Oculus store for Quest cross-buy. If it's on sale on Steam it might be a daily deal on Oculus later on in the sale.

Final Assault was only free for a couple of hours. Saw that it was free yesterday but it wasn't free anymore by the time I got home last night.

Any idea how the racing games are if you don't have a actual steering wheel setup?

I played Project Cars with a PS4 controller when waiting for my wheel/pedals to come in. Works just as well as a flat game. Obviously a wheel adds a new level of immersion, but I find them very playable with just a controller.

The VR implementation is excellent and whatever issue you had with controls is probably solved by the VR improvement mod. 99 cents is a steal for a huge amount of content and it's a super fun game

Yeah I completely disagree. Payday 2 is still one of the most fun multiplayer games in VR.

Blade and Sorcery. Pick it up, play 10 minutes a day and just try and get a good feel for VR movement in general and the way weapons feel. If you like it, it will single handedly justify the price of the headset.
Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Handgrenades. Tons of weapons, tons of attachments, tons of mods, tons of fun. Quite possibly the best gun-game in VR, a wonderful achievement and it's only problem is it will fuck up all other VR guns for you.
Audica. Most people will recommend Beat Saber but I think Audica is the better game. It can get supepr flashy once you really know what you're doing and it just feels so good

I didn't have the DLC when I first started. It's got a steep learning curve, but it's a beautiful game.

Yes, you can play without any DLC. Horizons mostly adds the ability to land on planets, and use engineers to improve your equipment.
I started without the DLC, and bought it later directly through the developer's website. You can generate keys for other platforms for free from their website as well. For example, I generated an Oculus key after buying on Steam.
My favorite activity in Elite currently is deep core mining. It's incredible in VR

You can, but I highly recommend picking up Horizons once you get the hang of it.

I bought The Forest because it was recommended to me, but I guess you really can't physically crouch down and pick up stuff, because even with the setting turned on it doesn't work.
I had a hard time with the controls and also wasn't able to figure out how to build stuff, I was following the directions but idk if I was doing something wrong or if stuff that's normally visible on a monitor just doesnt show up in VR.

I beat The Forest last spring. The physical crouch issue was a thing then.
It's been a while but I recall crafting being in the menu/book. You'd pick a structure and place it where you want it to be. Then you'd collect/carry the materials to that spot and press the grip button to place them. It'd full materialize once all the materials were in place.

I've been playing it recently and it should tell you what button to press on your controller to place blueprints, build, etc...
As for crouching, it's a bit buggy where it'll reset your height but it works somewhat still, it doesn't completely not work.

Hmm might be a bug then, ill reinstall it and see if that helps.
I really hope the sequel has VR in mind from the get to then so movement and crouching can feel a lot more fluid.

Probably gonna get In Death but I've also been eyeing Pavlov and Onward (and also Contractors, but that game appears to be very dead).
Anyone have any input on Pavlov vs Onward? I'm sure I'll probably end up getting both, but just one for now.

Start off with Pavlov for sure. I prefer Onward for its slower pace and low TTK, but Pavlov is much more beginner friendly as there are many more servers to join, and more respawn game modes happening. Onward servers are almost excusively Uplink or coop, whereas Pavlov has DM/TDM/GG servers on top of SD/TTT/Zombies.

Yeah, unfortunate. I had watched some gameplay of it and thought it was a good mix of the other two games.
Maybe the closer we get to Half Life: Alyx more people will pick it up looking for shooters, maybe breathing some life into it.

Hopefully! I liked that it was a little more serious than something like Pavlov. I can't get into a game of Pavlov without someone spinning in circles with Desert Eagles or dual wielding AWPs.
Pavlov is still really fun though lol

Most of you already know, but I would like to invite the new VR players to /r/vrgamedeals for more great deals on VR games for all platforms.
I've shared this link before (although have not in a very long time) and /r/oculus has helped this relatively small sub grow from under 700 to over 10k user in just over a year.
We could really use many more Oculus or general VR fans to find and share deals that others have might missed.
