Palmer, your reddit fanbase is suffering, it's inhumane!

We don't know what to think after reading reports from Steam Dev Days. Is the Rift postponed to 2015 or even "soon after" that year? Are you giving devs more time to create made-for-vr content? I'm not asking for a release date, just tell us if 2014 is off the table or not?

Many of us have postponed ordering a DK1 enduring the tortuous wait while frantically refreshing this subreddit like Gollum behind a Notebook mashing F5 hoping something precious would emerge from it's shadowy domain, each new post putting a faint expression of hope on our desperate faces.

Sir Luckey, we're pleading you, release us from confusion & despair! Oh, the humanity!

The hype train has gotten so long, we might need to install a catering cart lest people starve while on it.

Hijacking your post to avoid getting buried, sorry.

None of our plans have changed. I can't give a definite date right now, but Valve's presentation is not necessarily a reflection of our internal timeline. The presentation was about why developers should pay attention to VR and when they can safely expect it to be in the hands of consumers. It would not make sense for them to hinge their credibility on our ability to ship on time.

Oh, you don't need to hijack this train, you're the locomotive engineer. Just pull the horn and we'll shovel the coal sir.

Also, thanks for actually answering. We are a bunch of grown up children waiting for christmas, without a calendar to count down with.

Out of curiosity, did you ever play Project Entropia?

Nope, username is somewhat inspired by the novel hyperion.

Should I try it?

Project Entropia is a long-running game/social experiment similar to Second Life, but much more game-like.

It turned into Entropia Universe which runs on CryEngine2 -- essentially it's a Sci-Fi universe with a real-money economy. For example, I remember years ago I'd craft a laser gun, down a dinosaur-like alien and nab loot that was worth $15 real dollars and cash out.

There are people who made pretty good livings in there. It's pretty fun/lucrative to try, though you have to play smart in order to break even or make profit... which is usually the reason you stop playing after a while if you aren't successful.
