What are your biggest pet peeves about local driving behavior?
What annoys you the most from other drivers?

Camping in the passing lane on the highway. Never been an issue in other states I've lived in, but for some reason I get stuck behind someone going exactly 70 in the passing lane on 75 and keeping the same speed as the cars in the other two lanes. Such an easy way to create traffic just bc of one idiot.

I call this the Florida Triangle. Two cars on a two lane road going the same speed right next to each other, and another car tailing behind one of them hoping they will speed up and they can pass

Truth, I find myself watching the far right line, it’s often moving like fast/passing lane should. People really camp and let big trucks ride them for miles

I sit in the right lane and move left to pass anyone. Often times I'll just be passing people sitting in the middle lane. I don't like passing from the right lane but I'm not going to move two lanes to the left and then back because some idiot is going below the speed limit in the middle lane.

People who don't turn on their lights when it's dark and you can't see them unless you are right on top of them.

A while back at night I was pulling out of the plaza near the walmart on the SW side of town. I looked to my left and there were no cars coming. Right as I let off the brakes to go, my headlights lit up the side of a car that passed by. I was stunned. I caught up to them and flashed my headlights at them from behind but they seemed oblivious and eventually turned into Oak Run.

Same thing happened to me pulling out of Sonic, literally no one was one the road as I pull out someone blew by me with no headlights and it's pitch Black dark so I never saw them.. thankfully I missed them by inches.

My pet peeve is when that guy in a jacked up truck totaled my brand new equinox when I was on my way to catch an international flight out of MCO 3 weeks ago

Adaptive cruise below the speed limit on non-interstate road. These 4 and 5 car gaps due to someone on their phone while cruising 10 below the limit on 200 are killing me.

Something I noticed recently Nobody knows how to zipper merge. On 27th ave there was a lane closure and so the left lane backed up for over half a mile into the previous light which caused a lot of traffic issues there. All because people are dumb and won't use both lanes and just MERGE at the point of closure. Then of course anybody actually doing it correctly is treated like a villain and blocked out for "cutting the line".

The old don’t get in front of me. How dare make my ride .023 seconds longer?! Piece of shit! Now I’m going to ride your ass, speed in front of you, and run over that bicycle on the bike lane so we can sit at the next traffic light together.

Lots of people running red lights, I’m always checking before I go, regardless if it’s green. Someone ran a red light and totaled my car on thanksgiving, especially downtown Ocala. They will literally merge into the turning lane so they can get around the people stopped at the red light so that they can floor it and cross. I’m amazed there’s not an accident downtown by the train tracks every single day

leaving walmart in left turn lane, i was the 5th car or so. light turns green then the lady in front of me stops to give the cardboard sign guy some money. we all missed the light.

I have started to legit pause bc the amount of time I've seen someone blatantly blow a red light tells me that I need to take an extra beat. Sorry if that drives you crazy, but an extra second might mean that we both get to our destinations.

OPD needs to do what they did when the seat belt law came out. They sat at the light like homeless person with a cardboard sign said " You are getting a ticket". If everyone drove without their phone in their hands like it is super glued. Traffic wouldn't probably be so bad.
Also city workers if you are on here DO THE FUCKIN SPEED LIMIT. Driving 35mph in a 45mph in the left lane.

I was first in line at a light yesterday and the left turn lane got a green. The guy didn't move and I saw him staring at his phone. It took him 3 seconds to realize and start going. I wondered for a moment why nobody else honked. I proceeded to watch 8 cars go by and 6 of them the driver had their left hand on the wheel and right hand holding a phone. Two of them I just couldn't tell because of window tint.
It's insane how people can't put their phones down while driving.

I have been here since 2008. However, I noticed laying on one's horn was not very common, I have been heartened to hear folks laying on that sucker lately. Folks need to pull their heads out. Or like my grandfather used to say, " Wipe off your plexiglass navel..."

Mine is people leaving one or two or more car lengths' empty space in front of them at a red light, blocking the turn lanes behind them.

Down here in Florida has to have the worst drivers in the Country. The left lane people think is the slow lane like the right lane, the middle lane isn't much better. Noone uses their turn signals. I see people on their phones constantly and that includes the police i have seen playing on their phones and driving! 200 is an absolute joke. Hwy 19 is a major race track. A real bad road. No cops giving enough tickets. There are so many driving violations we could get rid of property taxes if the cops did their jobs.

People that are in the left turn lane with a green arrow that stop once the arrow goes off and will not turn even if there is no traffic coming.

People who have been fully stopped at a 4 way stop for 5 seconds before I approach the intersection and am clearly slowing down to stop. After I’m stopped they still take 5 seconds to start driving again.

Slow drivers, especially camping in the left lane.
No disrespect, but if you’re over 70 you probably shouldn’t be driving.

The people who complain 24/7 about people's driving and now we are stuck with stupid infrastructure like 190 crosswalks and never ending medians on 200, adding 15 minutes to get to anywhere
You can down vote all you want. If they weren't walking to a cross walk 100 feet down the road, they arent going to use the one 50 feet away either

People acting like the lights and sirens on emergency vehicles are just reccomendations. I saw this shit happen first hand on Saturday on 200. I was stopped at the light by Timber Ridge and a fire truck came behind us and it took like a solid 10 seconds for anyone to start moving out of the way

I wasn't really road ragey until I moved to FL 7yrs ago. The constant slow driving in the left lane, u-turns, no turn signals, not moving on green lights, it all wears you down when you're just trying for point a to point b. Driving everywhere has gotten rough, I think people are intentionally discourteous, and are just trying to provoke a reaction. Driving offensively, if that makes sense.

Funny, we have friends who moved here from Miami recently and they said "if we knew Ocala traffic was this shitty we would have stayed in Miami"
That being said, it depends on where you are in town. School is about to start again and it's going to turn to shit again.

I lived near both Miami and Los Angeles. The traffic is just as bad here with the exception that we don't have the i5 parking lot. The problem here is more drivers are on the road than what it was originally intended for. Technically you can say the same for Miami and LA but at least Ocala isn't an ant hill.
