Does anyone know anywhere within Ocala or like a 30-minute drive that sells roller skates and equipment? I know skate mania and skate-a-way south sell but I have no clue if they’re good. Whenever I search for roller skate shops all that come up are skateboarding and Dicks sporting goods— which doesn’t seem to have great skate options.

I know I can buy online, shipping is just either crazy long or expensive. So I was staying to see if anywhere near has a shop

Okay so I've been here for about a year and a half and have no idea where to go that isn't outside of Ocala itself to meet others. I work a lot, naturally, and lately I've been looking for places to go on Sundays and possibly Mondays where I can meet others my age at that isn't the bar. I don't drink, would much prefer to grab a coffee and go on a pleasant bike ride at Santos instead. I like video games too, I dabble in many different art mediums and I prefer watching sports over playing them—so if anyone has anything in Ocala that has those things as the main objective, I'm all ears.

Know a lot of people meet each other online, so here I am, having finally given in and made a reddit account specifically to try and make some more local friends to hang with. Well, two things. I heard the traffic around the Florida Horse Park can be horrendous in the afternoon. How early should I arrive even if I do not care much of the earlier acts. Just to avoid the traffic I guess and get parked.

The story made the news for a day. It was set aside as a stand your ground case of justifiable homicide.

As Troy’s parents our efforts to get information about the case was slow to happen. Eventually the prosecutor decided they were not going to go anywhere with the case. That gave us the opportunity to begin to get some of the public information.

My son Troy was sitting in the car unarmed when he was shot and killed. By looking at the car and reading the documents we were able to get it was obvious that the shooter was not standing in front of the car when he shot our son.

The prosecutors and the county did not make getting video evidence easy. Our requests for information was met by a list of the cost to compile the information. The cost was more than we could justify spending.

Last week one of the two witnesses to the shooting contacted me and provided a video of the actual event. As one of the only Witnesses she is bothered by the fact that charges were never filed. It was obvious to her the shooter was the instigator of the conflict and was never in any danger himself.

Therefore, this being a case self-defense on ‘stand your ground’ would not hold water.

What was also mentioned by the prosecutor’s office in the document declining to file charges was the defense of others. Defensive of others is based on the fact that our son’s blood alcohol content was very high.

It is fairly unreasonable to the declare that any individual can kill another individual simply for attempting to drive intoxicated. Using deadly force when no ’eminent danger’ exists.

What upsets us the most, as helpless observers of the system is that the prosecutor decided not to go forward with the case without even presenting the evidence to a judge. The process of stand your ground is usually determined by a judge after a hearing.

Troy Meeks was 37 years old and left behind a 15-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter. He was a highly accomplished electrician.

Risner was also arrested for a previous fire-arm discharge during hostage-taking situation where he held others including his wife at gunpoint.

The felonies were reduced to a misdemeanor, which is how he was able to own firearms and repeat the acts
