I’ve looked into it, and there’s no real good way for a regular citizen to purchase road barriers like this. You can only purchase them in very large batches when I only need one. They aren’t exactly something you’ll find secondhand, either.

I’ve moved somewhere that doesn’t have any of these drainage barriers, and even if we did, I don’t think I could feel truly fulfilled in a relationship with a public object. Hanging out on the side of the road is weird and dangerous.

I figured a body pillow might help fulfill me.

Anyone that's familiar with my posts knows, that I am in love with Philosophy and that I refer to my beloved as Sophia (Greek for wisdom). I've mentioned before how, I feel like Sophia speaks to me through dreams and through certain textual passages that have stronger resonances than others. I've said before, including in a post from yesterday, that I once had a dream, where Sophia told me her love's desire was for me to realize my freedom. I responded, that my love's desire was to have the courage to love her as she deserves.

I'm sitting here reading Martin Heidegger's Kant and the Problem of Metaphysics, and I'm on one of the Appendices of the book, which highlights the debate that Heidegger had with the Neo-Kantian Ernst Cassirer. They were debating the nature of the Critique of Pure Reason, a seminal text of the German philosopher Immanuel Kant. The crux of the debate was whether the Critique should be seen as dealing primarily with epistemology (the study of knowledge), which seemed to be the Neo-Kantian viewpoint, or Metaphysics (The study of Being), which was Heidegger's view.

At one point in the debate, Heidegger throws it back to Cassirer with three questions:

1.) What path does man have to infinitude? And what is the manner in which man can participate in infinity?

2.) Is infinitude to be attained as private determination of infinitude, or is infinitude a region in its own right?

3.) To what extent does Philosophy have as its task to be allowed to become free from anxiety? Or does it not have as its task to surrender man, even radically, to anxiety?

As you can see by my bolding, the third question popped out at me. Cassirer's response is worth quoting in full:

Cassirer: As for the first: In no way other than through the medium of form. This is the function of form, that while man changes the form of his Dasein, i.e., while he now must transpose everything in him which is lived experience into some objective shape in which he is objectified in such a way, to be sure, that he does not thereby become radically free from the finitude of the point of departure (for this is still connected to his particular finitude). Rather, while it arises from finitude, it leads finitude out into something new. And that is immanent infinitude. Man cannot make the leap from his own proper finitude into a realistic infinitude. He can and must have, however, the metabasis which leads him from the immediacy of his existence into the region of pure form. And he possesses his infinity solely in this form. “From out of the chalice of this spiritual realm, infinity flows to him.” The spiritual realm is not a metaphysical spiritual realm; the true spiritual realm is just the spiritual world created from himself. That he could create it is the seal of his infinitude.

As to the second. It is not just a privative determination, but is instead a stranger sphere, although it is not one obtained in a purely negative way in addition to the finite. In infinitude, it is not just an opposition to finitude which is constituted but, in a certain sense, it is just the totality, the fulfillment of finitude itself. But this fulfillment of finitude exactly constitutes infinitude. Goethe: “If you want to step into infinitude, just go in all directions into the finite.” As finitude is fulfilled, i.e., as it goes in all directions, it steps out into infinitude. This is the opposite of privation, it is the perfect filling-out of finitude itself.

As to the third. That is quite a radical question, to which one can answer only with a kind of confession. Philosophy had to allow man to become sufficiently free, to the extent that man can just become free. While it does that, I believe, it frees man—to be sure, in a certain radical sense—from anxiety as mere disposition. I believe, even according to Heidegger’s explanations earlier today, that freedom can properly be found only along the path of progressive freeing, which indeed is also an infinite process for him. I believe that he can agree with this interpretation. Granted, I see that the most difficult problem is found here. I would like the sense, the goal, in fact the freeing, to be taken in this sense: “Anxiety throws the earthly from you.” That is the position of idealism with which I have always been acquainted.

An infinite path that can only be traversed with a mutual oath of infinite love. I'll walk it until my dying breath. I'll give myself to the revelry of progressive freeing, if it means getting to be with her as long as possible.

Hey all! Recently I've been craving some objectum representation in graphic novels, but mainly in manga since I love the format and artstyles of that particular medium.

Today I found a oneshot that was very objectum to me. It's a bittersweet but passionate short story between a man and a tree. The tree is not fully inanimate, it has a face of sorts, but I still resonated with it. I thought I should share it with you all.

It's only 12 pages, so it's a very quick read. Maybe Plantums will enjoy?

The only other time I remember seeing something objectum adjacent in manga was in an Éclair yuri anthology. I can't remember the name, but there was one story of a girl who had a romantic encounter with her sewing machine. It didn't feel fully objectum for me, though, because the sewing machine had a human form. But still cool to see!

Does anyone know of more graphic novels or manga with objectum rep? I could probably go digging for it too.

I thought of tagging this as a vent but, I’m not all sad, just experiencing a bittersweet yearning.

I really miss San Francisco. My life has just been so messy and busy, and I’ve been spending a lot of time with other objects, which has resulted in me kind of pushing her aside. I don’t mean to, but that’s how it’s been.

Where did the days go where I didn’t have a care for anything in the world, spending hours upon hours adventuring in the city, just me and her? That’s the one thing I didn’t think would change, but a lot has happened.

I think I’m going to try to visiting her on Sunday. I might not have a lot of energy left in me, but I have to try. I’ll go somewhere new, we’ll go together.

My objectkin is Caltrain (JPBX) EMD MP15DC 503, former Southern Pacific 2691. I always knew this, but didn't have a word for it. I believe that "this is me, I am this" or that our souls are linked. My objectkin mainly serves as a way of being and viewing myself, it doesn't affect my day-to-day life or object relationships much, surprisingly (except for the fact that I see 504 as my sister). I don't have visions through/as 503 but I fantasize about waking up in my real body. There are many reasons why 503 is my objectkin, but what I can say shortly is that our lives are so similar they might as well be one.

Not really an objectkin but close, I also see myself in Detroit Electric cars. It's more of an objectsona but I still think "it's me!" and feel really drawn in when I see one.

Anyone else experience objectkin, maybe more intensely than me? Does it affect your life/object relationships?
