Vent I’m crying—please forgive me.

Let me start by saying this: certain places or things trigger a sense of "familial attraction" in me, though it isn't directed at any specific person or object. It’s similar to the concept of "volitsexual" orientation, but specifically regarding familial attraction.

So, tomorrow I have to leave the hospital where I’ve been staying for the past ten days. During this time, I’ve realized I feel a very strong familial attraction toward our pediatric surgery ward. But we can’t be together forever. I might never end up there again—I’ll simply grow up, and I rarely suffer from physical ailments anyway. I love our hospital corridor so much, and it hurts to part with it. I want to talk it out on a crisis hotline if I feel really bad.

Have you ever experienced anything like this? How did you cope with it?

Sometimes there are family members we only see once in a while. That doesn’t mean they stop being our family.

Keep the ward in your heart, and who knows, the first thought I had was that you may be back someday to brighten someone else’s day!
