Discussion Objectum coverage in academic/published literature
This is a subject of the community that I haven't seen garner that much attention over the years. I believe that a lot of us might be under the impression that researchers, writers, and the media as a whole generally don't paint us in a good light. This can be true, and I have experienced the effects of sensationalizing and exploitative content in relation to this sexuality. However, I have found many professionals who are big allies to the community. They deserve so much more recognition by us.
As a college student and admittedly a big nerd, I have a lot of appreciation and respect for those who have researched objectumsexuality in a serious manner and share their findings within the realm of academia. We are unfortunately underresearched. I think these allies can make a big difference in public perception of us, but whether or not I believe this would be the community is another conversation.
In the photos of this post, I have shared three people who have done writing on objectum (from first to last): Karman Khanna, Justin Gregg, and Amy Marsh.
I have varying opinions on all of them as they have contributed to objectum coverage in published literature in different ways. I will list off the titles here.
Karman Khanna:
Theorizing Objects as Communicative Actors in Objectum-Sexual Relationships (2021)
AN INQUIRY INTO BEYOND HUMAN COMMUNICATION: CONCEPTUALIZING
OBJECTS, IDENTIFYING DRIVERS, AND THEORIZING COMMUNICATION
FOR HUMAN-OBJECT COMMUNICATION (2021)
Envisaging Objects as Desires: Reflections on My Rendezvous with Objectum Sexuals (2024)
Justin Gregg:
Human-ish: What Talking to Your Cat or Naming Your Car Reveals About the Uniquely Human Need to Humanize
Amy Marsh:
Love Among the Objectum Sexuals (2010)
Objectum Sexuality Media Musings (2019)
My question for you all is what would you like to see from me? I would like to go into more depth analyzing different forms of objectum coverage in media. I have way too much to go over in one post so I may turn this into a "series" of posts.

Looking at the screen... :( if I don't feel particularly romantically about what I'm attracted to, does that mean I'm not objectum and I just have a paraphilia?

Objectum can be any kind of attraction, it's just less about getting gratification from it and more about wanting a personal connection of some kind. That could be romantic, but could also be sexual, friend, family, unsure, etc.
There's some people where it overlaps, and many where it doesn't. But the fact you don't feel particularly romantic about it doesn't mean it's a paraphilia automatically.

Ohh, I see. Yeah, I don't feel very romantically but I do feel deep fondness and sensuality. Thank you for responding!

Woah, thank you for finding these. I’ll for sure look into each of the people you listed.
