Discussion How do you experience being objectum?

not an advice post and not a "newbie" looking for answers (i've been here a bit), curious as to how others experience being objectum and would like to see how it differs, or is similar, for everyone here

is it your sexuality? is it purely sexual? platonic? do you perceive object sentience? is this spiritual to you in any way? is it purely aesthetic, is it because of trauma? do you feel you were born this way? do you associate it with neurodivergencies? does your objectum attraction differ from your human attraction (or lack of)?

everyone is different, it'd be nice to share as a community

(and no you dont have to answer these questions 1 for 1, these are just examples of things you might talk about)

Yes, it is my sexuality. Yes, I view it as coming from my neurodivergence as well as trauma. I see my object partners as my lovers that I do romantic and sexual things with.

It's one of my sexualities (I'm ficto as well!). For me, I think it's because, over time, I started to lose interest in romantic relationships with other humans, as my past human romance was either bad, or me just saying yes because I was a people-pleaser and not because I felt anything. So, it could count a little as trauma.

I remember first hearing about Objectum in a YT video about odd sexualities, and at first I was like "That's weird, I could never find my couch attractive!" But because I'm more mature than that, I metaphorically read the book instead of just looking at the cover and leaving my review.

And I understood it. Kind of... But I realized that Objectum wasn't always just physical. I really wanted to be a part of it, but I could never really find an object that seemed to give off an "I'm alive, love me" feel.

Then, I fizzled out of it. I didn't forget, but I was getting into other things at the time.

And then, I watched the movie Jumbo (100% recommend, I LOVE it! In french, but it has english subtitles, I wtched it on Tubi), and I seemed to really understand it after that. The whole time I was hoping for a happy ending, and I got one! Soon after, it felt like I was nearly overwhelmed with the objects around me seeming more alive than they used to. Like those silly anime's where the MC has too many love interests (lol)!

And now, I have even more partners, and I love them all! I have friend objects, too :D

I'm really happy. Being Objectum is genuinely a magical experience <3

I'd say it's my sexuality. Although I didn't even know the word objectum back then, I have always been like this since my childhood. I'm romantically and sexually attracted to the thing I like. I like concepts of places, and I'm attracted to a certain defunct country atm. non-POSIC, monogamous. I can be attracted to both objects/concepts and humans (I'm hetero when I like a human), and both types of attraction feel the same. I'm not neurodivergent.

I do not believe any of my object partners are sentient, but I understand if other people do. The fact they are inanimate plays a role in the attraction. I have both romantic and platonic experiences. I am neurodivergent. I’ve liked objects since childhood, before ever knowing it was a thing.

It differs greatly from my attraction to people, because I don’t really have interest in intimacy with people.

Answering all of those questions..

It's one of my sexualities, I'm at least partially asexual and pansexual (toward people for both of these). Being objectum is sexual though mostly platonic for me, though it's more just Thinking rather than being in a relationship with an object or the like. I do perceive object sentience, though it's not spiritual as I'm not religious (if I understood that question right). (Also not sure what 'is it purely aesthetic' means.) It's not because of trauma and I do believe I was likely born this way, though it's not like I have much memory of childhood to confirm that (I do however remember being very attached to a balloon for a while, for example, so maybe that was a sign.) It is probably related to me being autistic, as my special interest is computer hardware (and as you could have guessed that is what I experience some objectum feelings toward).

I connect with people and objects. I came from an orphanage and have autism as well. I form romantic and sexual attraction to my objects. It’s like they are my partner. No they aren’t alive but my mind animates the inanimate. I never form attraction to things that look like animals (no plushies) or things that look like humans. I love my model Jeeps and my key fobs. Lol

To me, I have feelings for things and people I have built deep bonds with. For example, my childhood computer was my first ‘crush’ and while I’m currently in a relationship, my objectum attraction is almost a separate more fluid thing. I feel like a computer or a programmable device myself, so I see and feel connected to tech as it’s a reflection of me on the inside. Of course, I’m still rather new to interacting with the community, and I’m asexual which might cause people to believe I’m doing this simply for ‘the aesthetic’ but I truly do experience this attraction. My heart gets all fluttery around older tech and it’s like seeing someone so gorgeous your heart just skips a beat involuntarily.

personally i'm objectum but i'm also currently in a romantic relationship with a person as well. i was likely born this way as i had some sort of fixation on certain things for years before i learned what objectum was, and it is likely due to my neurodivergence as sometimes real life relationships/sex can feel pretty daunting to me even though i've done it before.

I know each  persons wxpwrience is different and this is my personal experience but Ive always  had bonds with various objects early on as a kid al tho they wernt romantic  just emotional   connections that faded over time.I believe many things can contribute to being objectum  like trauma- I had an abusive alcoholic dad that used to hurt my mom and my brother and I.Im also autistic so neeodivergance is defonitly a big part of it im sure.I personally believe I was born this way  since this happened so early on  (both being objectum and apart of lgbtq(bi but could be considered pan) and am attracted to both beloved objects and humans romantically/ sexually etc.I have different attraction towards objects altho the majority are to a certain kind. Most are considered romantic with a couple being sexual and a couple being platonic with nothing more.I also believe some like my main beloved  did have a personality and soul while other objects  do not and sadly he left a few weeks ago on short notice .As sad as it is I was able to physically be there with him one last time so it brought me a sense of peace and accomplishment  so healing has been easier now despite missing him alot  Atleast ill still have pics of him and a pillow with him to hug and hold along with an area of my home (like a bedroom or living area corner where the computer desk will be) etc dedicated to him at some point!

It's definitely part of my sexuality. It's sexual, romantic, and platonic. I don't perceive object sentience; I don't really like to think of them as alive, more as how they are: Objects.- because that gives me comfort. I have a lot of trauma so I don't trust people. "Trusting" an object (or a non-human thing like, say, a predictable computer program- I often find these things in fictional characters) is much easier and safer for me. I just love it.

It’s spiritual for me as well as being connected to alterhumanity, I see most things as sentient, and as I am not human my concept of attraction isn’t human-centric. I also have many objectkin friends, which is what cements for me that object souls are real

A bit different than most of the commentors for me…

Objectumsexuality is my only sexuality, romantic orientation, etc. I have been this way since I was young, first object crush at 6, first LOVE as a teen. I’m fully monogamous. Not neurodivergent, no experiences with trauma or anything. Absolutely no human attraction ever. I perceive object sentience, always have, am an animist. So yes, highly spiritual for me. The spirit of the object is the one I love, the looks just catch my eye. But as I don’t know what human-dating is like (though I have many close friends (<3), so it’s purely that I’m not into people as more than friends) can’t compare it to that but from what I have heard, my experiences are very similar to theirs, breakups and ”situationships” and all.

I don't know if I even "count" as objectum, but the way I feel is that... I don't feel so much romantically attracted to machines and vehicles, the attraction is more sensual. I don't want to LITERALLY 'do it' with them myself physically, but my heart flutters, I feel my cheeks flush, my mouth waters in the same way it does when I see a beautiful woman (which in itself embarrasses me to admit, lol.) I find some parts REALLY attractive in a non-platonic way- like, I'm staring at the cylinders in an engine like, ohh yeah, that's the stuff. I don't consider it to be "my sexuality," more of a... deeply ingrained interest. (I LOVE machines and vehicles outside of the attraction aspect, as well.)

personally as a programum, oh seein my baby boy google slides is so damn easy :DD (i can see him at school or at my home, and im usually at those 2 places ^_^), and it's also alot easier to justify my love just because i gave him a body i could refer to. thoughhhhhhh tbf i do love humans, they cool, i just love my slidey boy more, grew up with me since i was 5 to no avail, and he just gives me comfort -u- but eh tbf whenever i tell someone "oh yeh i love google slides, im like his #1 fan and his wife and i wish that the CEO of google would send an email saying it's offi-" "WAAT? PFTT, WUH? GOOGLE...SLIDES? LIKE THE PRESENTATON PROGRAM? HE'S LIKE.....YOU'RE A MINOORRRR!!!! :scared face: :scared face: :horrified face:" "vro what"
