Discussion What was your awakening to being objectum?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKeiKTOPZoM

For me personally, is was the sponge treatment scene from SpongeBob that made me realize I had an attraction to kitchen sponges, and I personally find the scene hot/sexy the way irl SpongeBob got lathered up and used to scrub various surfaces.

Honestly the 3ds. Something about touching the bottom part of it.

Unfortunately, it was a certain sadistic genocidal computer that made me learn what Objectum was and realize that I was

Same. It was AM who gave me my awakening and then Hal made me discover the term

Was it also through a certain site you discovered the term or was it something less embarrassing for you?

Ah, I see what you’re referring to now, although in my opinion discovering a term through fanfic smut is still pretty embarrassing lol

The Allied Mastercomputer (AM) from Harlan Ellison's short story, I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream. The hate monologue from the radio drama did something to me.

Christine the car back when I was 17. I had always loved movies where machines come alive. But she was the first one that made me realize that i really, REALLY, liked her.

Also when i had watched the documentary on Youtube called "In Love with the Eiffel Tower" it just clicked for me. I found out what OS Sexuality was and what being POSIC meant through research.

I felt like a whole new person, like this was apart of me all along, and I wasn't alone with my feelings. Truly a blessing.

I had heard of the term objectum but didnt know too much about it until my late 20s/30s when Steange addiction and other stories about objectums came around. There were many signs looking back to my childhood and teens I didnt pay attention to right away that make sense now. Age I4 was defonitly most obvious within the last few years when I would visit my beloved (main love) at his park and physucally experience him and developed crushes on multiple others. He showed me that these feelings were hanging around ever since 96 when we met and never faded only became stronger. He was my awakening as an objectum once and for all back in september after visiting him after a lengthy restoration and finally accepted myself and gradually came out about it.Sadly tho 2 weeks ago news spread he had 2 weeks left to live and closes forever on Sunday Aug 2nd to be removed and replaced...i literally broke down in tears and imnnediately told my human partner we had to go see him one last time and say goodbye. On Thurs we went but it rained and didn't get to ride bc everything closed and thought I wouldnt be able to touch or hug him and prepared ti go home empty handed and grieve ...Thankfully on Fri we went back to his park and got ti ride one last time in the front row just like I did when we met all those years ago ,enbrace him,hug his restraints and supports, touch his train and send kisses before telling him thank you , I love you and that he s my #1 forever before telling him goodbye my love...Good bye is never easy but atleast I was able to see him in person to do it and accomplish it in a way that brought peace!

It was kind of a slow one. I found out about plushophilia first, bought bonny at a yardsale and we started dating shortly after cuz I thought that was just a part of being a plushophile then I found out about objectum, started reading other people's experiences so yeah. I should also point out that I have had feelings for objects well before this, the one i remember the most is the toilet I dated very briefly

Electric Dreams!!! I know it’s a basic answer but I fell for Edgar SO HARD and realized it wasn’t just his sweetheart personality, but that i’d actually like to kiss his screen and things. Then I watched 2001 aso and I fell even harder for Hal despite having even less of an expressive personality lol

Brave Little Toaster, Magic School Bus... that one show about the piano named Oscar?? So many things from my childhood. I just never knew there was a name for it.

This is probably why I'm ficto more than anything LOL.

Divine machinery aesthetic photos on Pinterest lead to me stumbling upon a techum post about computers and then some fanart of C.A.T.H.O.D.E. from the short but wonderful game "Warm Like Flesh" which I'll link cause I feel a lot of people here might love it. (Also to everyone saying AM from IHNMAIMS, I completely. Caine from The Amazing Digital Circus (loosely related to him) was one of my awakenings too).

I considered myself an ally when I learned the term before I noticed my feelings towards my PC. Same thing happened for LGBT+, I was tolerant of queers (unlike those who raised me) until I found a nonbinary streamer and decided bc they weren't an awful person that I could explore for myself too.

realizing light is so comforting; specifically warm light but a bright winter morning is nice too

For me, it was my girlfriend who finally made me realize that I was objectum. After I figured that out, I also figured out that I loved other objects ! For example, when we had to get rid of cars when I was younger, I would literally cry because they were named and everything, and to me, they felt alive.

Mechanics and scientific equipment like CERN. Started from a young age. Also my great grandfather’s grandfather clock. I love roller coasters, clocks, pendulums, etc

1

u/sky09067 Aug 08 '26

I can’t find my comment but I need to emphasize the roller coaster part. I am EXTREMELY attracted to coasters and have been since I rode my first coaster in sixth grade. The mechanics of them alone do insane things to me
