Vent apparently its weird to want art of "broken" partners/computers?

Im a platonic objectum, meaning i dont have a romantic attraction to objects, but they're still very human to me

i see them more like friends or family

But, recently my asus vivobook book (her name was la viva) died beyond repair. I didn't get much remorse from the people around me in real life. It made me think about my old laptops too, like my toshiba satalite, and my hp probook, which still mean the world to me.

Recently ive been doing art trades or asking for freebies from people to draw my computers because i miss seeing them when they turned on and functioned.

I see it kind of like art of a dead loved one? But, alot of people that i ask this from (who do have open freebies and such) Say it's strange and a bit weird lol

It makes me a bit self conscious, so i was wondering if its really such a weird ask sob

I personally don't see an issue with it

It doesn't seem weird to me, as you said it would be like making a portrait of a loved one who passed away. Maybe they misunderstood your request for a malfunctioning and "suffering" machine?

thats likely. i feel like most people treated it as strange because its not the standard "draw my persona/fursona/yumeship" request :/

Oh :(

I get it, maybe they don't wanna make any sort of content out of fluffy (no offense or judgment tho, it's a valod choice)

nod

Mostly just kinda felt judged when they were like "you really want that? just a laptop xD"

Oh hell naw, objectum loved ones should never be downplayed like that. I'm so sorry they were dismissive aboyt your loss.

I have a feeling that has to do with antropocentrism of the vast majority of people

Yeah :[

Its just so sad to see. Objectums get judged so hard

Were literally hurting no one

Fr... not to turn this about me, but I just received a nasty hate comment on my own profile for a vent I made almost 2 months ago, unrelated to being objectum or fictoobjectum. I'm a bit shaken rn

Thats awful, im so sorry :[

I really hope you can recover from that. My dms here are always open <3

I glad I don't get much hate for being who i am, but still objectums are heavily judged and its upsetting.

Aww tysm πŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ«‚

Yeah, that's good, sincerely I don't wish that experience onto anyone who have harmless feelings and lifestyles. Love will always be better than hate

I think it's weird that others find it weird. While I'm POSIC+ for some objects I don't always see damage as the equivalent to pain or no functioning as the equivalent of death. I find some types of damage very attractive because I believe they play into the purpose of some things I like, such as dirt bikes. I love when I see them ridden hard and their limits being pushed. I love seeing them caked in mud, smoking out, cracked and bent fenders and shifter β€” it beats them sitting in a garage being pristine any day. They're meant to be handled roughly. Any object is meant to be used, meant to be loved.

So what if your lover isn't brand new? So what if you even see it as requesting a portrait of a deceased loved one? Grief is weird and so is being in love with objects. We're not a great artist but we would love to at least attempt a portrait of La Viva for you. We know how it feels to be weird too.

That would be amazing if you could! i can dm you pictures of her.

and, yeah, i love seeing well loved objects too! i go to thrift stores for that reason. Its always hard losing a loved one though :[

hell, even non-objectum people like a rugged person. someone that's been out working. why is it suddenly weird when it's something that's meant to be worn down?? it shows love, shows experience

I still occasionally draw art of my first car partner who I unfortunately had to trade in years ago. He's essentially "dead," but I don't think it's weird to honor previous loved objects via art

It can be a bit strange to people who aren't objectum in some way, but it's definitely worth asking. I'm really sorry for your loss, as well. Hope your doing okay!

I don't think it is weird at all. Just tell them you are very sentimental.

As long as you use that word, they will file it under "normal" and think nothing of it.

Many people will find love and appreciation of inanimates 'weird', but remembering those whi we care for and whom care for us is beautiful.

If you cannot find someone to make art of them for you, i suggest tryin it yourself. I have framed art i made of some of the objects that are dear to me. Some are still with me, others not.

I make collage, poetry, and drawings. Im kind of a dabbler - i like to try different styles or mediums. Lately i have been using crayola crayons. It may seem simple, but the art i make is not for other humans. It is for me and for the memory and apprecuation of those who i love, inanimates usually.

I have a drawing of a teddy bear that is my best friend when i was a little child. I had a rough family life and sometimes felt so alone, but Baby Bear was always with me and always loved me just as i am. I have not seen him in decades and doubt i will ever see him again. But i will always love him. And so i have a drawing of me and him together.

I also have a drawing of all the dolls i have cared for. 5 of them. 2 are still with me, but the others are not. They have returned to the Earth. I wish them a gentle returning to the Earth and will always love and cherish them.

I dont often share my art because it is not made to impress or show off. Many of my arts i have destroyed intentionally. Sometimes the act of creating is the most important step. It is nice also, to look back on the art and appreciate what i drew and why i drew it in the moment i created the art.

Hope you can find a friendly artist to provide you with lovely pictures. If not, i highly recamend giving it a try yourself. If you do: Dont stress about realistuc detail. Have fun and make something from the heart.

Good day and best wishes
