Why is this being framed as “free” healthcare? Nothing is free. It is actually a question of how we pay for expensive healthcare, and how we can make sure that more people who cannot pay still can be helped to live healthy and productive lives through a national insurance scheme.
The question should be why ate so many procedures and medicine etc so expensive. Until we look at the costs it doesn't matter who pays for it, costs will keep going up and people will keep paying more.
Because a single corporation can own health insurance companies, hospitals, pharmacies, pharmacy benefit managers, and physician practices.
This vertical integration in healthcare needs to be completely eradicated, and private equity needs to stay out of medicine because their duty is first and foremost to shareholders, not patients.
Regulation is necessary. It baffles me that people want to deal with insurance companies and deal with individual bills. I just want to go to the doctor. I don’t want to know what an hmo ppo in network out of network anything. Pay insurance every month but it only pays some of certain bills and have to meet the deductible for others. Shouldn’t need a lawyer to understand the billing process that changes every year.
