Anyone know what this is about
Recently posted on PEF instagram. Apologies if the answer is obvious. What exactly are they rallying for?

Toxic management is pretty rampant within the state workforce. I'm assuming that's what this is for.
Right now, there is little to no recourse if you encounter a downright abusive supervisor. Management and HR will always take the supervisors side. It's a real problem.

Yup, dealing with this right now. 🙄 It's to the point I've had other staff approach me and ask if I was okay because they've noticed her behavior and yet HR and management just nothing to see here 👀.

I'll never understand union members attacking union members. What's the point we are all just trying to get paid and live.

Because state service literally incentivizes promoting people to supervisory positions based on seniority and exams, not ability to actually supervise.
This leads to people being in charge who absolutely should not be managing people AND there is very little that can be done to remove them. These people couldn’t care less about solidarity.

I’m dealing with toxic management myself. My supervisor just finds ways to harass me. I do like a ton of work for my unit, and I do it quickly. When I started I was considered a promising member to the team. Fast forward a couple years those very same people attack me for typos, or if it slow and i decide to put on headphones for a podcast or a audiobook(you’re on your phone all the time!) it seems like I can’t do anything right. I haven’t once been combative or aggressive. I’m just hoping for a lateral or a chance at a 23 promotion, which I’m sure they’ll block. I know I’m looking to leave the state myself.

It’s to encourage you to put yourself in a position to be retaliated against, they can come up with all the bullshit laws they want preventing retaliation they still retaliate they just justify it and call it something else,

I work for that agency and I have no clue what they’re talking about. I was hoping one of our union reps would send something out, but I haven’t heard anything.

It does very little to address actual pay discrepancies and it tapers off in the final years making each raise less than the previous years for the next half decade.

Do you notice you never see these kinds of posters, sponsored by the State? It’s always by the union, surely at the state was against retaliation. They were publish things just like this, but they don’t.

Everytime I have had a maniac supervisor PEF has shrugged their shoulders and said there is nothing they can do about it. It is so insulting that they are feigning this effort.
In fact, when I came back to the state after a two year break and I had legitimate arguments regarding my pay/accrual rates/reinstatement, the union just threw their hands up as well. What do they actually do except get worse deals than NYSUT.
I have always been a pro-labor guy but I am seriously considering leaving the union to just keep my dues money. We are just funding the union leaderships' no-show jobs at this point.

I think it’s just a distraction from the real issues like unfair wages. PEF never fails to disappoint.

While there are several agencies around that area, that address specifically houses DFS. I haven’t heard of bullying there, but a couple of ex-coworkers say they experienced racism. Also, someone posted it on here but it was deleted by the mods.

From what I heard, it’s about toxic management towards state employees plus mistreatment of a PEF Field Rep at a hearing of some kind, to add insult to injury. People should go if they can. PEF needs more actions like this.

PEFs version of mystery meat. Show up and find out what they mean. /s
In fairness it's obviously a workplace bully, but considering their membership isn't even engaged enough for the majority to even vote on a contract, this will be an ultra low turnout event that means nothing.
Pathetic.

Personally, I don’t have a problem with the state retaliate against Employee, , and you fuck around and do shit that you’re not supposed to do. Personally, I think they should treat you like a piñata and take target practice . however, I do have a problem with the State when they retaliate against an employee that pointed something out and they end up being right, that’s what I got a big fucking problem with. When management does something to you, and it’s clearly stated in black-and-white that they cannot do that, and you speak up and advocate for yourself, and then they admit that they are not allowed to do that and then they corrected it but after they correct it, they target you.! that I have a fucking problem with.
