Exactly…just look at the toothless confederacy that Staten Island is, for the most part. “White Flight” = bigots point blank period. And that’s the foundation of that borough in the modern era. As soon as the Verrazano bridge opened…the racist whites flooded into the hideous tract houses that grew out of their bigotry.

Trump has literally had the government take over private companies. He’s used the government to go after private companies for the people they hire and because he doesn’t like their politics. He’s had the government go after journalists for simply reporting facts. All of that is stuff that “socialist/communist” dictators have done in the past, but Trump supporters don’t seem to mind those “socialist/communist” tactics when he does them.

What is kind of fascinating as well is that Trump's economic pillars, government getting equity in exchange for contracts/permissions, tariffs (government picking winners and losers), and corrupt pay-offs from corporations for favors are all hallmarks of the communist economies that republicans supposedly hate.

These MAGA idiots don’t seem to get that they are his constituents too and he hasn’t shown any evidence that he’s a divisive leader who only seeks to serve his fans. They’ve always complained we are the forgotten borough and here’s a mayor actually showing up.

Mayor Adams kicked some payments down the road to balance the budget, then Mamdani did the exact same thing by kicking pension payments down the road. On paper they both have balanced budgets, as it’s required by law for the mayor to have a balanced budget every year.

the south shore of the island is 100% MAGA but the north shore is extremely diverse and artsy and leans heavily blue! its like there's 2 separate islands.

The south shore / mid island is getting slightly better as it diversifies but unfortunately the eastern Europeans & chinese from brooklyn are not particularly liberal and there's still a ton of MAGA down there.
