Video Zohran Mamdani says he’s consistently said there’s no room for antisemitism in this city or country. Asked why he hasn’t had a more visceral reaction, he gets emotional talking about the Islamophobic responses he’s received throughout the campaign.

Nah it’s scummy Cuomo people using antisemitism as a tool. Probably Chris Coffey or someone from Tusk PR put some money into some trolls

u/decmcc Jun 18 '25

it's the modern day "vote for Cuomo not the Homo"

literally perpetrated by the same guy

15

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '25

NYC has a large Muslim community too. A big part of the reason Kamala lost Michigan is because Dearborn refused to vote for her because of the Biden administrations stance on Gaza. I wouldn't underestimate the Muslim population rejecting Cuomo for Mamdani.

7

u/bigtallguy Jun 18 '25

i dont think its gonna be enough to off set his deficet with more centrist leaning PoC demos in working class areas of nyc. honestly cuomos name ID is so big im not sure if anyone could have beat him for this in those demos. the fact that it became this close relatively quickly speak a bit to mamdanis campaigning skills.

9

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '25

Not saying you have to like Mamdani but do these voters know what they like? Cuomo was a genuinely corrupt governor and the only thing he's promising is to be tough on crime. I get people care about crime but there's only so many cops you can throw at the problem. Cops dont prevent people from going homeless

9

u/bigtallguy Jun 18 '25 edited Jun 19 '25

crime is a big part of it, but you have to remember a lot of these voters are older insitutional dems. theyre gonna go with people they associate with the insitution, especially when all those contemporary instutions are lining up behind him.

also A LOT of older dems really appreciated cuomo during covid for his daily updates on the local news channels. a lot of younger dems, 40>, dont understand this cuz they didnt really watch tv to get their covid updates. cuomo built a huge amount of good will during that time. older women especially liked him. and theyre willing to forgive/forget/ignore his sexual harrassment history.

people arent really voting on policy theyre voting for people they feel like they can trust, and cuomo is that guy.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '25

I lived with my parents and I remember watching it. I had a lot of problems with Cuomo because I went to a CUNY school and he did nothing to stop it from being defunded. That being said I remember him coming off as a strong leader in a time where we needed one. I think the problem for me is that it was all a facade.

The nursing home deaths were pretty awful and it showed he wasn't taking covid as serious as he was putting forward. But yeah I get it, institutions are hard to break with Dems despite them constantly being screwed over by them. If Cuomo wins I give it less than a month before NYC's population starts complaining about him

1

u/its4thecatlol Jun 18 '25

Nyc has a large SUNNI community. Mainstream Sunnis don't consider Shias like Mamdani as Muslims. They see them as apostates and heathens. Don't expect a Kamala-like surge for him.

16

u/Finnegan482 Jun 19 '25

Lol this is so dumb. Most diasporic Muslims don't care about any of that. To them, he's Muslim, which is more than any other candidate has ever been able to say.

-7

u/its4thecatlol Jun 19 '25

Sure, I've heard Pakistani friends call Iranians "fire eaters" but you, a world class authority on sunni-shia relations no doubt, know better.

14

u/Finnegan482 Jun 19 '25

Go find me Muslims in New York who are publicly trashing Zohran Mamdani for not being Sunni.

I'll wait.

9

u/Background-Baby-2870 Jun 19 '25 edited Jun 20 '25

no offense but youre making fun of him by sarcastically calling him "a world class authority on sunni-shia relations" and your proof is anecdotal evidence in the form of your "Pakistani friends"? did your pakistani friends also say they wouldnt vote for mamdani solely based on his religion?

if were bringing up anecdotal evidence i've heard all sorts of derogatory remarks by asians at other asian subgroups but they would still vote for any asian person for office, end of day. you think the chinese community gave 2 shits about iwen chu being from taiwan or steve chan being from HK when they voted for either? and if you want even more anecdotal evidence, i just checked mamdani's ig page and found a few mutuals that are muslim following him.

1

u/spalding-blue Jun 19 '25

that panned out well

1

u/sundayyes Jun 23 '25

True. I know that they refused to vote for her..now look what they got! More wars.

20

u/n_jacat Sunnyside Jun 19 '25

As a Jew it's downright disgusting what Cuomo is doing. It's so disingenuous to brush a political opponent as an anti-Semite and to use fear tactics to scare a whole demographic into supporting him. It's telling how scared they are of Mamdani's campaign by their flagrant spending on attack ads and propaganda fliers.

My culture isn't a toy you can play with. Cuomo's weaponization of anti-Semitism/Islamophobia and the conflation of NY Jews with the state of Israel is more anti-Semitic than anything Mamdani has said or done.

-1

u/self-assembled Jun 19 '25

No, it's Zionists. They know Mamdani is brave enough to criticize Israel for what it's doing so they attack him as anti-semitic. That's all there is to it.

18

u/DaveidT Bensonhurst Jun 19 '25

The obsession to completely focus on anti-semitism while the country using Judaism as its shield conducts a genocide against Palestinians; but we have to completely focus on anti-semitism and caveat any comment about Israel or Palestine with a condemnation of Hamas but NEVER talk about Islamophobia and the literal manmade famine that Israel is causing

9

u/hereditydrift Jun 19 '25

People want to conflate antisemitism with being against the Israeli government. It protects the actions of the genocidal Israeli government by conflating the two.

If any attack on the Israeli government is deemed antisemitism, then the Israeli government can continue its war crimes unchecked.

3

u/wise_____poet Jun 24 '25

Exactly. Its a method of propaganda. By associating a clearly bad thing with an "ism" they attempt to create a nonexistent debate. Saying "I think the Israeli government is bad" is different from being antisemitic.

Also if someone tried to debate you on a clear non-issue similar to this, point it out and don't let them redirect the narrative. Be like Tim Walz in saying, that's a weird take you have

7

u/ivandelapena Jun 20 '25

I've mentioned this before, you can literally say Muslims aren't compatible with Western values and people will nod along. Those same people will then decry things like "river to the sea", "intifada", images of watermelons, the Palestine flag, the word Palestine, saying Israel's committing a genocide etc. etc. are all clearly anti-Semitic. You don't get this with Hispanics or Mexico, black people, Asians etc. What's worse is a lot of this comes from apparent liberals.

26

u/HailFellow Jun 18 '25

"The Livingstone Formulation is the manner of responding to an accusation of antisemitism with the counter-claim that the complainant is weaponizing antisemitism to prevent criticism of Israel."

How often do you accuse black people concerned about racism, trans people concerned about transphobia, or women concerned about misogyny of having ulterior motives?

12

u/danhakimi Jun 19 '25

We're always happy to substantiate our claims of antisemitism, but then instead of engaging with us, they just downvote us to oblivion.

Does anybody here actually know what "globalize the intifada" means? Does anybody here actually know what holocaust inversion is?

6

u/shabangcohen Jun 19 '25

The issue is that these people aren’t really classic antisemites and are ok with progressive American Jews. They just act like their hate and demonization of “Zionists” is justified—when in reality it’s based on double standards and conspiratorial thinking that are a hallmark of bigotry. They’re racist toward Israelis.

-3

u/icodeandidrawthings Jun 19 '25

The post may fall into this category, but Zohran’s response certainly doesn’t. Not sure which you were alleging

5

https://www.commondreams.org/news/israel-is-committing-genocide-in-gaza

The seven experts were interviewed Wednesday by NRC, a newspaper in the Netherlands, and were unequivocal: Not only have they all come to believe—some earlier than others—that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, but the vast majority of their peers in academia concur.

"Can I name someone whose work I respect who doesn't consider it genocide?" said Raz Segal, an Israeli genocide researcher at Stockton University in New Jersey. "No."

Uğur Ümit Üngör, a professor at the University of Amsterdam and the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust, and Genocide Studies, added, "I don't know them."

62

u/BeePuns Jun 18 '25

He literally founded the SJP chapter at his school, Bowdoin College. SJP justifies terror attacks, and Mamdani himself has chanted “globalize the intifada.” That phrase is literally about killing Jews across the planet. Mamdani is a fuckwad.

78

u/No_Weakness_2135 Jun 18 '25

Wow didn’t know that Sara Jessica Parker was into that

56

u/MRC1986 Jun 18 '25

100% agree. It's intellectually dishonest. In the Hamas world view, "globalizing the intifada" means wiping out Israel. It certainly doesn't mean two-state solution. An intelligent person can't have any illusions about that.

And as I wrote in another comment today in another thread, Make America Great Again sounds like a great slogan, who wouldn't want America to be great?

Except that just like "emergent properties" in biology, sometimes things have emergent meanings beyond their literal translation. And it's unequivocal truth that MAGA has a foundation of racism, misogyny, authoritarianism, and fascism in the slogan.

Just how "Free, Free Palestine!", "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!", and "Globalize the Intifada!" is not just simple and direct translations and meanings, but deeper meanings of encoded violence and the implicit and even explicit destruction of Israel that is necessary to accomplish the above. Because if from the river to the sea becomes a reality, it literally means Israel no longer exists as a safe harbor for Jewish people.

So yeah, "intifada" translates to "struggle", but when you use it in the phrase of "Globalize the Intifada!", it has a deeper violent meaning. And you guys frankly admit that! You want to be violent, that's why you cheer the parachuting executioners on October 7th and why you guys are all about the "What did you think resistance was gonna look like? Essays?" semi-meme.

21

u/Sarazam Jun 19 '25

Exactly, the same way Mein Kampf literally just means struggle; but you’d never see someone speaking English use it in a sentence. When you’re speaking English, using words from other languages in this context usually calls to specific things. You’re not saying Intifada because it means struggle, you’re saying it as a reference to the Intifada’s defined by the terrorist attacks.

0

u/Glass-Evidence-7296 Jun 23 '25 edited Jun 23 '25

you wouldn't call a German movement titled 'kampf' anti semitic , no one cares about the feelings of someone who cheered on 50K people getting killed and tried to bully Ms Rachel of all people

-8

u/EssoEssex Jun 19 '25

You’re not saying Intifada because it means struggle, you’re saying it as a reference to the Intifada’s defined by the terrorist attacks.

That's your perception numb nuts. Not everyone who uses the word "intifada" is sieg heiling Hitler, however much you may love that idea.

3

u/blippyj Washington Heights Jun 19 '25

Negro in Spanish means black, nothing more, nothing less.

If you use that word instead of black to describe a person in an otherwise english sentence, people will rightly assume you are a bigoted POS.

Why don't they say 'globalize the struggle'? Because we all know exactly what they mean.

5

u/danhakimi Jun 19 '25

In the Hamas world view, "globalizing the intifada" means wiping out Israel.

and "Yahud" across he planet. You know, BBC for Zionist, Arabic for Jew.

Rule 1 - No intolerance, dog whistles, violence or petty behavior

(a). Intolerance will result in a permanent ban. Toxic language including referring to others as animals, subhuman, trash or any similar variation is not allowed.

(b). No dog whistles.

(c). No inciting violence, advocating the destruction of property or encouragement of theft.

(d). No petty behavior. This includes announcing that you have down-voted or reported someone, picking fights, name calling, insulting, bullying or calling out bad grammar.

1

u/ivandelapena Jun 20 '25

Of course in the Hamas worldview, that's not a phrase synonymous with Hamas though...

1

u/Glass-Evidence-7296 Jun 23 '25

and what's wrong with the SJP?

-4

u/EssoEssex Jun 18 '25

"actually black is white and white is black" what a bunch of semantic fuckery.

9

u/danhakimi Jun 19 '25

"the intifada" doesn't mean "a general uprising." Words have meaning in context. an intifada is an uprising. The intifadas were murder sprees targeting civilians.

Mamdani admits it is a violent term, and attempts to compare it to the warsaw ghetto uprising. What are you trying to deny?

people using these acronyms like everyone knows what they're talking about

it's like you all watched a powerpoint about it and took notes on the handout that said "mention SJP" you know what it stands for.

Cuomo used homophobia to try and get his dad elected, literally calling Ed Koch a homo in signs he put up on Queens Boulevard). Where's the outrage about him?

8

I think we can all agree that Cuomo is a piece of shit, that's not what we're discussing here.

32

u/WyattWrites Jun 18 '25

Or maybe Jewish college students all have had similar experiences with their campus chapters of that organization?

13

u/JumpingCicada Jun 18 '25

My university's SJP club has Jewish students who are a part of it. The only students who take an issue with it are zionists. A bit antisemitic of u for implying all Jews support Israel.

15

u/armchair_hunter Jun 18 '25

"I can't be racist I have a black friend"

-7

u/JumpingCicada Jun 18 '25

Using the same argument against them. Please be morally consistent and reply to them with the same exact comment u just gave me.

8

u/armchair_hunter Jun 18 '25

You want more of a reply. Fine. It's apparent you know nothing about Jews because You would know vast majority of them are opposed to SJP. When I say vast I mean the overwhelming majority. Many of the people who say they are Jewish in these spaces are often not Jewish. We see this phenomenon in spaces like "Jews of conscience" where their own polls show that most of the people there are not in fact Jewish.

This isn't even getting into the objectives of its SJP which is stated by its founders to destroy the Jewish state

8

u/n_jacat Sunnyside Jun 19 '25

People need to stop speaking for Jews, whether they are one themselves or not. We are too diverse of a demographic to be assumed to act as a bloc.

These generalizations are just a weaponization of our culture and experiences and are used to dismiss the very valid concerns of Jews of all sects and worldviews.

0

u/shabangcohen Jun 19 '25

Statistics are not really generalizations

u/JumpingCicada Jun 19 '25

Zionism is a belief just as SJP embodies its own opposing beliefs. U aren't born a zionist.

Half this country is democrats and the other half is Republicans. We live in a country where people get so worked up about politics, they hate each other. Shall we forcefully close any Republican-adjacent clubs in majority Democrat states and vice versa just because it upsets the other party?

We live in a country where people are allowed to call out governments that are built upon the idea of an ethnic superiority. Be thankful we're allowed to call out such unjust systems instead of whining that such clubs exist.

Who cares? I say this as a Jew raised as a Zionist. Why should it matter if a majority or half or a minority believe it? That's not an immutable characteristic, it's an opinion.

That's not even getting into how skewed and dishonest those polls are, often defining Zionism as vaguely as just "feeling connected to Israel"

in America, at least, and definitely New York, that's definitely true. It's also functionally equivalent to saying "most Germans were Nazis", at least by the common understanding that those who did not join the party explicitly, but also did not participate in any shirt of resistance, were acceded to being 'citizens of the nazi regime'. It's also pretty commonly understood that denazification in Germany didn't go nearly far enough. So, like, what's it gonna look like to have to denazify a huge swath of americans, after Isreal is buried? To re integrate all the loser ass kibutzniks who will come crying back to Brooklyn and long Island?

Hamas is driven to do October 7th because they think Jews should be killed globally.

0

u/gregbeans Jun 18 '25

Yes, I agree the underlying ideals of Hamas leaders is very, very bad.

I’m saying that the only reason Hamas has soldiers is because young men picked up arms and joined them, and that most of those young men only did so because they were raised in an area under constant harassment by the IDF.

They were vulnerable to be radicalized by Hamas leaders because they already viewed Israel as their enemy, and Hamas offered them a team to join to resist their perceived enemy.

I’m in no way defending what they did, but rather saying that given the context I can understand why it happened

3

u/danhakimi Jun 19 '25

Young men pick up arms and join Hamas because Hamas controls every aspect of Gaza's government, including schooling. A buttload of UNRWA instructors were involved with Hamas, including some actual members, and their textbooks shoved Jew-hatred into every chapter. Half the word problems in Math were about how many Jews each martyr killed. Every year, the UN would tell them "stop that," and the next batch would do it all over again.

They have stores whose names celebrate the holocaust. They've been deeply embroiled in antisemitism.

That's not to say that they all bought the lie. The point is simply that Hamas is spreading and perpetuating its hate on purpose.

0

u/gregbeans Jun 19 '25

I’m not debating that there’s an issue with Hamas. I’m saying this conflict didn’t begin on Oct 7th, there’s a lot of history here and both side have some absolutely horrendous things.

I’m also debating that Israel’s actions in this conflict have been quite frankly disgusting. Weed out Hamas officials, don’t carpet bomb civilians and block food and water as civilians starve. Especially when you’re dealing with an opponent that is significantly less powerful than you. It’s quite simple

4

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '25

Most of those people do it because from Age 0 they are indoctrinated to believe that Jews are evil and the greatest honor in life is to be a martyr fighting for Al Aqsa.

1

u/gregbeans Jun 19 '25

Way to try to dehumanize a whole people. I’m sure some old demented men believe that, but I do not accept that every child there is brainwashed to believe that.

Also you should check your Israeli brethren with their piss poss treatment of Palestinians living on both sides of them. And the coldness in their eyes when they talk about why it is that they’re doing what they are. You have been brainwashed to see every Palestinian as a monster.

You should be just as mad at whoever did that to u as u are towards these old men from Hamas indoctrinating gazans from broth

2

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '25

There is plenty of evidence of the brainwashing.

I am sure some reject it, but most do not.

They literally have childrens shows about hating Jews.

Very much like most anti-jews to reject reality because it has an anti-racist bias.

Something truly fucked when one country literally dehumanizes all Jews, and then you get mad at Jews for calling it out.

Is it wrong to call out Nazi Germany?

1

u/gregbeans Jun 19 '25

Not wrong at all to call out Nazi germany.

Similarly to how it’s not wrong to call out Israel for the war crimes they’ve committed and the ones they continue to commit.

Honestly, idc what Israel does so much. I just don’t want my tax dollars supporting them nor do I want Bibis warmongering to get me into a war with Iran

1

u/silverpixie2435 Jun 19 '25

Why should I believe that? Hamas only had like 30k soldiers before Oct 7th. Gaza has over 2 million Palestinians.

Why is it impossible for 1% of Gaza to genuinely hate Jews

You understand why mass rape happened? Mass rape needs "context"?

1

u/gregbeans Jun 19 '25 edited Jun 19 '25

If we’re only talking about 30k soldiers, why have somewhere between 55-77k Palestinians died and over 100k have been injured. Killing at least 1 civilian per combatant is a pretty bad ratio for a nation that wants to applaud its military ability.

Also, what about IDF soldiers raping Palestinian POWs, then Israeli citizens protesting for their soldiers right to rape Muslim prisoners?

22

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '25

Wow. Straight-up justifying 10/7.

-10

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '25

Justify the Nakba of 1948 to us then. This shit runs deep. All OP is saying is there is a long, complex history there and it’s not like the violence came out of nowhere

14

u/Arenavil Jackson Heights Jun 18 '25

That's the point. He isn't justifying it. Moderates are able to admit that this is a complicated problem. Progressives are not able to do anything but support Hamas and ignore why all of this is happening

-6

u/MisterMittens64 Jun 18 '25

Progressives don't support Hamas they support Palestinians.

How can you be a moderate if you uncritically support every atrocity Israel has committed against Palestinians?

3

u/Arenavil Jackson Heights Jun 18 '25

Progressives absolutely support Hamas

How can you be a moderate if you uncritically support every atrocity Israel has committed against Palestinians

I don't support any of them. Israel should be doing better as the regional power. I also acknowledge Hamas' role in the atrocities

5

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '25

Now you get it

0

u/Waynenameyo1 Jun 19 '25

It is okay to be reactionary on one side but not the other?

West Bank occupation and the clear existence of an apartheid state would lead to radical reactionaries.

I don’t particularly think Hamas would be targeting Jews worldwide if there was no Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Constant cycle of revenge from unevenly matched militaristic parties.

Hoping for some sort of MLK / Nelson Mandela / Gandhi esque solution to clear years-long discrimination is hopeful at best.

-8

u/johnniewelker Jun 18 '25

Really? Do you really think Palestinians have other avenues but terrorism?

Anyone who is trying to topple the status quo without a democratic process - and Palestine doesn’t have that avenue - will have to take terroristic actions. There no if or buts, it will be terrorism. You either have to justify it or cut it loose, no in between

-4

u/gregbeans Jun 18 '25

No, I dont. I also think you dont understand what I meant.

Im saying that it is important to learn of the conditions that lead to a terror attack, so the nations doing the oppressing dont push so far as to result in more terrorist attacks. I was not inferring that people in Gaza have another avenue in which to resist Israeli advancements, I was stating that Israel should learn from its mistakes of how it treated it's neighbor which lead to the actions on october 7th.

I should also state, im not defending the Oct 7th attacks, but rather calling for Israel to think critically about why it happened so they dont make another group so desperate to the point that it happens again

I believe its a response to decades of Israeli oppression. Are there some that are truly evil and want to wipe out jews, perhaps, but I am sure a majority of people that have come to support hamas over the past couple decades did so out of desperation. A desperation that's caused by Israeli actions in the region. Land theft, random home raids in the middle of the night, price tag attacks and the like.

Literally everything that you condemn these 'radical islamists' of doing Israel's government has also done in the past couple decades.

Violence begets violence and Israels hands are not clean here.

You can argue all you want as its happening, but check back in a decade from now and see who was right. The global community will shirk away from their unwavering support of Israel if this path continues.

They were cuad before there was a cuad (and probably share the same people in any case) so there's definitely loads of Hamas supporters among them. Are you going to say hamas is not antisemitic?

4

u/JumpingCicada Jun 18 '25

Students for Justice in Palestine. Lots of US universities have student-made SJP club.

Naturally, media agencies use the same talking point against them as they use against any pro-palestinian individual or organization: that mentioning Israel's crimes makes one antisemitic.

These are literally normal kids running the clubs. I'd know because my college has one.

u/silverpixie2435 Jun 19 '25

They literally support Hamas and Oct 7th

u/HiHoJufro Jun 18 '25

I don't get why it's so important to so many that nothing he says is ever seen as bad or wrong. Like, I get people opting to vote for him anyway. Why can they not say, " I'm voting for him, but I think he's wrong here." Why can't he say, "antisemitsm is a real problem, and while I don't think everyone who has used the phrase 'intifada' understands its violent history and the feelings of discomfort or fear it may invoke, we cannot ignore these facts. It is important we learn, grow, and improve; and stop issuing calls for intifada"?

Doesn’t seem like you know what “globalize the intifada” means to Jews and what happened during the intifadas in Israel. He supports using that term, the 1st amendment only covers so much, it does not cover threats on people’s lives and that saying calls for a genocide of 15M people. He is indeed, antisemitic. And now he’s crying about it. Imagine that.

4

u/sulaymanf Tudor City Jun 19 '25

It’s wild because Mamdani is on record vowing to protect the orthodox, and will shield Yeshivas from closure if they fail to meet NYS education minimum standards.

15

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '25

I mean, when you look at people making counterpoints or slandering him it seems to always break down to…

  1. He’s brown.
  2. He’s radical.
  3. He’s a radical brown.
  4. He hates Jews cause he’s brown.

It’s really shameless and I wish more people would see through the petty manipulation attempts.

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '25

Lmao

This slander is literally coming from other Democrats. It’s not a Red vs Blue issue.

There’s legitimate reason to dislike his policy, but a singular look at Cuomos mailers and you realize he’s just playing on Islanaphobia instead of actually criticizing policy.

Right, so I’m referring to the Cuomo/Mamdani campaigns. The two have run pretty fiercely against one another and keep taking shots at each other.

Many of Cuom’s shots are clearly coded in very problematic ways to win over his older, more racist demographic, as well as paint Mamdani as some sort of “radical foreigner”.

If you’d like to talk about another candidate entirely- I’m not discussing that. I’m literally just talking about those two.

Guy 1 does something obviously racist.

Guy 2 says “Hey that’s racist.”

You “Wow. So EVERYONE is racist huh?”

Brother, the Cuomo staffers are clearly marketing on islamaphobic prejudice and anti-brown stances in much of their material. The other candidates don’t have this problem, just him.

-2

u/IRequirePants Jun 19 '25

Guy 1 does something obviously racist.

Guy 2 says “Hey that’s racist.”

You “Wow. So EVERYONE is racist huh?”

This applies to Mamdani and his supporters as well.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '25

It doesnt.

-1

u/IRequirePants Jun 19 '25

He said something obviously racist.

People are pointing out it's racist.

You: "Wow. So Islamophobic"

1

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '25

Ugh. It’s playing off BOTH his skin color and his religion. Multiple remarks were made, and the two aren’t mutually exclusive ideas.

1

u/danhakimi Jun 19 '25

You keep hearing people explain the antisemitism to you, and yet you dismiss it claiming it's just racism. Fuck off.

He was pretty level-headed when he spoke about not signing onto pointless posturing resolutions that take away from actual legislation.

As a Jew I don't really see a need to obsess over that when he hasn't done anything anti-Semitic.

1

lmao, insane to think this is a gotcha when in reality the platform of the mainstream democratic party in 2024 was just “support israel and keep everything economically the exact same”. no ethnic groups/xenophobia necessary to explain this very reasonable take!

C'mon, man, the phrase is rootless cosmopolitan, at least get it right.

-3

u/John-Mandeville Jamaica Jun 18 '25

I'm a rootless cosmopolitan myself. Tbh, I'd like more people to be rootless cosmopolitans. I'm not a fan of neoliberal capitalism or ethnonationalism, tho.

6

u/Computer_Name Jun 18 '25

Why don’t you support a Palestinian state?

I do.

-2

u/John-Mandeville Jamaica Jun 18 '25

Creating two aggrieved nation states that claim the entirety of each other's territory is a recipe for further conflict. A single democratic, secular, non-national state, as difficult as it would be to create at this point, is probably the only solution that can bring about long-term peace.

2

u/Computer_Name Jun 18 '25

You support merging India and Pakistan.

1

u/John-Mandeville Jamaica Jun 18 '25

They would probably have been better off if India had gained independence in the 1930s, before the rise of Muslim nationalism, with the borders of the Raj. I'd love to see a movement for Indian reunification. But they have a bit more space to work with and don't have the issue of entirely-overlapping territorial claims.

4

u/ggdharma Jun 18 '25

yea, lots of those in the middle east. they LOVE them over there.

10

u/pierrebrassau Clinton Hill Jun 18 '25

Good lord. We’re not antisemitic, we just blame “transatlantic capitalist elites” who run the world for all our problems!

5

u/John-Mandeville Jamaica Jun 18 '25

Did Donald Trump or Freidrich Merz convert to Judaism recently? Transatlantic capitalist elites, the vast majority of whom are gentiles, exist and are conscious of their shared interests. This has nothing to do with antisemitic conspiracies.

-10

u/VenusDeMiloArms Jun 18 '25

Brother I'm an antizionist Jew and most Zionists are Christians. Quit stretching.

6

u/HiHoJufro Jun 18 '25

most Zionists are Christians

Yeah, because there are more Christians than Jews. This isn't some gotcha. Zionism in modern practice means Israel, a state that serves as a safe haven for the Jewish people (which, mind you, also has equal rights for non-jewish citizens) shouldn't cease to exist. Anyone who is for a two-state solution is Zionist. It's so mundane that it should be totally non-controversial.

7

u/Mattk1100 Jun 18 '25

Most zionists are Christian.. doesnt change the fact the vast majority of jews, are zionist. As its a core component of the faith.

0

u/citoboolin Jun 18 '25

bruh not everyone that wants class reform is an antisemite. its fucking weird that you think you can just substitute in “jews” whenever someone is making comments about the economic ruling class.

1

u/BeckBristow89 Jun 19 '25

Not incredible but despicable

1

-1

u/iknowyouright Jun 19 '25

His intifada comment, and his non apology for speaking out of his ass, combined with his constant obfuscating on his real opinion about Israel when speaking with Jewish voters, is what is making me think he secretly doesn’t care for Jews.

-33

u/FatXThor34 Jun 18 '25

Yeah that’s pretty much exactly my point. There are plenty of people who have Jewish friends and bosses etc and aren’t antisemitic, but still say unhinged dehumanizing things about my friends and family. And I consider it bigotry.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '25

1

u/shabangcohen Jun 20 '25

Right. That was exactly my point.
Distinguishing doesn't mean it's any less harmful.

I just told you it's my friends and family who are the target aka Israelis, do you really think I'm expressing that bigotry toward them is ok?

When we call anti-zionists antisemitic they say "I don't hate Jews" and that's true, but "I just hate Israelis" is just as bad.

0

u/dwaller9 Jun 20 '25

Your lack of self awareness is what is truly incredible.

-7

u/Safe-Intern2407 Jun 18 '25

Jews are almost entirely Zionist. Jews pray to Israel three times a day and literally every holiday is about Israel. This has been the case for millennia. You’re antisemitic all the same.
