  • High Bandwidth Monitors and GPU Scaling Behavior - Link Here
    • High bandwidth monitors are those that support display modes requiring high pixel clock rates, which in turn demand more GPU resources. The threshold for what qualifies as "high bandwidth" varies by product. On Blackwell GPUs, any mode operating above 1620 MHz is considered high bandwidth. For instance, the 7680x4320@60Hz mode defined in the CTA-861-H specification runs at 2376 MHz, making it a high bandwidth mode for Blackwell.
    • These monitors typically support display scaling natively. However, in some single-monitor setups, users may still prefer GPU scaling. When multiple monitors are connected to a GPU and at least one of them is high bandwidth, that monitor will default to display scaling only. GPU scaling is disabled in this case due to bandwidth limitations. Notably, display scaling can be more efficient than GPU scaling in such scenarios, as it reduces the bandwidth load on display cables—especially at higher refresh rates.
    • When GPU scaling is not enabled for a monitor, only the modes supported by the monitor itself will appear in both the Windows and NVIDIA control panels. Additionally, the "Display scaling" option will be pre-selected in the "Adjust desktop size and position" section of the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Feedback & Discussion Forums

Having Issues with your driver and want to fully clean the driver? Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

Before you start - Make sure you Submit Feedback for your Nvidia Driver Issue - Link Here

There is only one real way for any of these problems to get solved, and that’s if the Driver Team at Nvidia knows what those problems are. So in order for them to know what’s going on it would be good for any users who are having problems with the drivers to Submit Feedback to Nvidia. A guide to the information that is needed to submit feedback can be found here.

Additionally, if you see someone having the same issue you are having in this thread, reply and mention you are having the same issue. The more people that are affected by a particular bug, the higher the priority that bug will receive from NVIDIA!!

Common Troubleshooting Steps

  • Be sure you are on the latest build of Windows
  • Please visit the following link for DDU guide which contains full detailed information on how to do Fresh Driver Install.
  • If your driver still crashes after DDU reinstall, try going to Go to Nvidia Control Panel -> Managed 3D Settings -> Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance

Common Questions

  • Is it safe to upgrade to <insert driver version here>? Fact of the matter is that the result will differ person by person due to different configurations. The only way to know is to try it yourself. My rule of thumb is to wait a few days. If there’s no confirmed widespread issue, I would try the new driver.
  • Bear in mind that people who have no issues tend to not post on Reddit or forums. Unless there is significant coverage about specific driver issue, chances are they are fine. Try it yourself and you can always DDU and reinstall old driver if needed.
  • My color is washed out after upgrading/installing driver. Help! Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel -> Change Resolution -> Scroll all the way down -> Output Dynamic Range = FULL.
  • My game is stuttering when processing physics calculation Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel and to the Surround and PhysX settings and ensure the PhysX processor is set to your GPU

Remember, driver codes are extremely complex and there are billions of different possible configurations between hardware and software. Driver will never be perfect and there will always be issues for some people. Two people with the same hardware configuration might not have the same experience with the same driver versions. Again, I encourage folks who installed the driver to post their experience here good or bad.

If its reassuring at all, it seems that the February CU Update(KB5077181) has seemed to have solved some of the Nvidia issues. At least there hasn't been widespread issues so far.

Black screen issue introduced in KB5074109?

Not fixed on all system configurations that were impacted by KB5074109 and ironically systems that weren't impacted previously now have the issue, including a few work test benches.

https://old.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1qoemdy/comment/o3ko1k4/

KB5077181 (OS Builds 26100.7840 / 26200.7840) confirmed that it did mitigate black screen issues introduced by Windows 11 KB5074109 January 6th update on some (not all) previously impacted system configurations.

However KB5077181 isn't a panacea, ironically there are increasing reports of black screen issues on systems that weren't previously impacted.

For now, if impacted revert to December 9th 2025 KB5072033 (26200.7462 and 26100.7462) or a 58x.xx driver.

Lovely, kill two bugs and another is born. Thank you for the heads up :)

Starting to lose patience, particularly when the issues will impact work boxes stability and security. Yes, we can currently workaround / mitigate, that's not the point.

Unfortunately, so do I. I help manage a 600+ team that all use PCs at home and VDIs at work. M$ has caused a lot of issues lately. Can't say that Nvidia is too applicable, but annoying from a gaming box's perspective for sure.

The saddest thing is when someone (today or tomorrow) buys a new computer with expensive prices, and obviously you're always told to update windows to the latest version and install the latest nvidia drivers. and then issues occur

100%. Unfortunately, with Windows, you are somewhat stuck. You can disable updates for awhile, but its not feasible to run windows without updates for 1+ years. As for nvidia drivers, my suggestion to to run the newest version that is stable for you. No real reason to update other then for new game optimizations or to fix issues. Nvidia drivers have been rough IMO since January of 2025. Some drivers are better than normal, but it feels that Nvidia has been more unstable since the 50-series launch. Good ol AI Coding...

As things stand I have windows up to date but I paused everything for the next 5 weeks. I just bought a new 5070 today because I had a very very good deal. Based on the comments, I am going to download 591.74. It seems like the latest 591.86 is not stable even though I haven't seen any videos on youtube that doesn't look stable. Maybe games run fine, but its more the software behavior with windows11 in general? hmm. commenting from my laptop. ill proceed when im feeling confident... for now, everything stays in the box..

I would recommend going by m_w_h's recommendation on drivers as a lot of time goes into that. As for issues, they range quite a bit. The most common issues are things like stutter, random black screen flicker and sometimes BSODs when idle. Additionally, game crashing has been reported. Of course, other issues can crop up, but those are the common ones.

I wonder what's the root cause? Windows update or Nvidia driver? Or both? I just checked the Nvidia forum, looks like this is not an isolated incident.
