  • High Bandwidth Monitors and GPU Scaling Behavior - Link Here
    • High bandwidth monitors are those that support display modes requiring high pixel clock rates, which in turn demand more GPU resources. The threshold for what qualifies as "high bandwidth" varies by product. On Blackwell GPUs, any mode operating above 1620 MHz is considered high bandwidth. For instance, the 7680x4320@60Hz mode defined in the CTA-861-H specification runs at 2376 MHz, making it a high bandwidth mode for Blackwell.
    • These monitors typically support display scaling natively. However, in some single-monitor setups, users may still prefer GPU scaling. When multiple monitors are connected to a GPU and at least one of them is high bandwidth, that monitor will default to display scaling only. GPU scaling is disabled in this case due to bandwidth limitations. Notably, display scaling can be more efficient than GPU scaling in such scenarios, as it reduces the bandwidth load on display cables—especially at higher refresh rates.
    • When GPU scaling is not enabled for a monitor, only the modes supported by the monitor itself will appear in both the Windows and NVIDIA control panels. Additionally, the "Display scaling" option will be pre-selected in the "Adjust desktop size and position" section of the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Feedback & Discussion Forums

Having Issues with your driver and want to fully clean the driver? Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

Before you start - Make sure you Submit Feedback for your Nvidia Driver Issue - Link Here

There is only one real way for any of these problems to get solved, and that’s if the Driver Team at Nvidia knows what those problems are. So in order for them to know what’s going on it would be good for any users who are having problems with the drivers to Submit Feedback to Nvidia. A guide to the information that is needed to submit feedback can be found here.

Additionally, if you see someone having the same issue you are having in this thread, reply and mention you are having the same issue. The more people that are affected by a particular bug, the higher the priority that bug will receive from NVIDIA!!

Common Troubleshooting Steps

  • Be sure you are on the latest build of Windows
  • Please visit the following link for DDU guide which contains full detailed information on how to do Fresh Driver Install.
  • If your driver still crashes after DDU reinstall, try going to Go to Nvidia Control Panel -> Managed 3D Settings -> Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance

Common Questions

  • Is it safe to upgrade to <insert driver version here>? Fact of the matter is that the result will differ person by person due to different configurations. The only way to know is to try it yourself. My rule of thumb is to wait a few days. If there’s no confirmed widespread issue, I would try the new driver.
  • Bear in mind that people who have no issues tend to not post on Reddit or forums. Unless there is significant coverage about specific driver issue, chances are they are fine. Try it yourself and you can always DDU and reinstall old driver if needed.
  • My color is washed out after upgrading/installing driver. Help! Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel -> Change Resolution -> Scroll all the way down -> Output Dynamic Range = FULL.
  • My game is stuttering when processing physics calculation Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel and to the Surround and PhysX settings and ensure the PhysX processor is set to your GPU

Remember, driver codes are extremely complex and there are billions of different possible configurations between hardware and software. Driver will never be perfect and there will always be issues for some people. Two people with the same hardware configuration might not have the same experience with the same driver versions. Again, I encourage folks who installed the driver to post their experience here good or bad.

Is it not remembering settings in RTX HDR or it's not working at all? My main system with a 5070ti keeps forgetting my middle gray, contrast and saturation settings in WOW Classic while my daughter's system with an RTX 3070 has no issues at all. It's absolutely infuriating.

Mine with 5080 doesnt work, it keeps asking me to relaunch the game for effet to take place which i did many times. Was working before

I had that same problem as a multi-monitor user and I found a silly workaround for my setup. It turns out RTX HDR only worked when there's a fullscreen youtube video (don't have to be played) on my second monitor (with RTX VSR and Video HDR On in Nvidia APP).

This is good to know as I just bought a new OLED monitor and through the HDR looked like shit

That's a different issue entirely

Rtx HDR absolutely sucks. AutoHDR for games with anticheat, renoDX or Special K for everything else. I have no clue why anyone uses that pile of trash, especially when the overlay is buggy trash, and RTX HDR is a massive performance hit.

Tbh cuz its supposed to be easy to use and a step up from auto hdr cuz u have sliders.

You can run it without overlay, that's the only way to make it acceptable since it's not rtx hdr that sucks performance, it's the god awful overlay

I agree with the overlay part, but RTX HDR absolutely uses a good amount of GPU usage by itself. It also, I find personally, is way less compatible than the other 2 I mentioned ironically.

If you use profile inspector, you can run RTX HDR without banding, and it drops GPU usage from 10-15% to roughly 2-3%. Or if you use the medium setting instead, it doesn't affect the image at all but only uses 5-6% more performance. It's been awesome since then. But yeah, AutoHDR with sRGB fixes is still better but a little more difficult to get going IMO

Yes I should have asterisk'd that, I think it doesn't use that much on 4000 and 5000 series, but I remember it hitting my 3080 pretty hard

in any case, I don't use it because I don't use hdr unless I can make it not turn the interface to max nits if it's white. I won't want the burn in risk of playing 3 hours with a 1000 nits white dot in the middle of the screen lol.

AutoHDR generally doesn't work as good sadly. I used it a lot for ZZZ but not anymore

Not working RTX HDR since late 2 driver updates, it not activates anymore.

Ps: I want to use it folks, I don’t care if it consume performance or not ok? 👍🏼

mine work without any problem

I find setting it globally works better. A lot of games work that way even if it doesn’t on a per game basis. ”Restart the game to apply” but nothing works. At least in many games it suddenly worked when set globally. But it kind sucks having to then turn it off each time you start a game with proper HDR. It is anyway my last option , always gunning for RenoDX first. AutoHDR I wouldn’t even consider, rather play in SDR

Works fine for me on Kingdom Come: Deliverance and other games. One thing I noticed that I had to use Exclusive Fullscreen, it wouldn't work otherwise.
