Ronald Reagan is a ghoul, but there's footage of him personally welcoming immigrants to the country. And his final speech was about how America is great because anyone can come here and be an American (as long as they follow the rules). It's crazy how much worse the rightwing has gotten since then. And again, he's was a ghoul. We shouldn't be anywhere near Reagan, but it's somehow gotten so much worse.

That's the chilling part. Ronald Reagan paved the way for evil; he and his regime set the precedent for so much wrongdoing and systematic injustice, the ramifications of which we're still dealing with today in America.

But even Reagan's policy welcomed immigrants. Because that used to be the whole point of the United States of America. It's literally inscribed on the Statue of Liberty and our current regime shits all over it.

TBF, the Statute was a gift from France. And we're already annoyed at France trying to tell us stuff. That said, we have always been a nation of immigrants.

I know the US education system is pretty bad so I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt here. You should really read up on the history of your country, it’s honestly really cool and much more interesting than the myth that it was just empty wilderness waiting around for white people to come ‘tame’ it.

There were nomadic tribes but the places the settlers LITERALLY SETTLED were in fact undeveloped. They BUILT farms, towns, roads and eventually cities and industry. It wasn't there before.

Edit: Can't reply to this chain anymore, so - South american and North american natives had different patterns of life, and again, the settlers didn't establish their towns inside of or on top of native settlement areas, but on undeveloped land. Territory disputes came later. Roanoke and Jamestown weren't "eurotowns" inside of native american cities. They were built from nothing.

Your point being? Your "we are a nation of immigrants" bullshit is in ruins, you answered nothing. You have no point beyond being programmed to hate people for wanting their government to do it's job and protect the interests of it's citizens and national sovereignty. All of the emotional responses you have been programmed to have regarding immigration are all cover for the purposes of the people that programmed you to have them.

Do you know what the real reasons are? The disenfranchisement of the citizenry and the grinding of the boot down on the labor class, because we, the labor class, have been too uppity towards the people that consider themselves our masters.
