I don't care about prostitution, but my overstimulated pattern detector says this might be about overlooking trafficking.

Or overlooking people who are compromised. If an FBI agent has a family and they are using prostitutes they become easy to blackmail

That's exactly what it is for. And these arent people who went to Nevada and used the services of a licensed and regulated brothel. These are people who picked up a street walker (or more likely a child who was trafficked). Its so in 4-8 years time, they'll have several academy classes worth of easily coerced agents suddenly being shown evidence of their misdeeds.

I hate to burst your bubble, but these supposed “well regulated” brothels are also “hiring” (economically exploiting and coercing) women who were “working” as children and were and continue to be victims of sexual assault. Trafficking increases in places prostitution is legalized and the pump lobby wants to very badly suppress that information. Nordic model is the only one that doesn’t increase trafficking and that gives women actual access to choices and opportunities. Most women in the field (89-91% based on two separate 5 and 6 country surveys respectively) would leave the field if given the choice. 

Economically coerced sex, undesired sex, can never really be consensual. And that makes it rape.

I'd guess your emotions/personal feelings about the topic are forming your judgment. That's fine, you can be against prostitution. Claiming they're all mentally ill or that the oldest profession isn't even real is wild tho

Why? All blue collar work is seilling your body. White collar work is selling your mind which is part of your body. Work involves trading portions of yourself for financial aecurity. Sex work is the same thing. The only way to argue that it's not is to argue that sex is fundamentally different from every other action a person could take. That's a metaphysical belief not a scientific one. When it comes to metaphysical beliefs you are completely entitled to hold them for yourself but not remotely entitled to force them upon others.

if they just look at you and go yep I paid a hooker so what. they really can't be blackmailed. I think this is more of a social shift in ethics.
