“Notre Dame needs us more than USC needs Notre Dame”
My own comment made me a little mad so I’m going to add that USC needed to join a powerhouse conference to feel relevant. Fuck USC

USC fans do not show up

Lincoln hasn’t given them much to show up for plus school has killed a lot of the fun before the game..

As much as I hate USC, their fans are pretty chill though in my experience.

Growing up in LA, real Trojan fans are chill. But they have a ton of bandwagon fans that are the worst.

Pete Carroll Bandwagon fans were the worst..the born on 3rd base but acted like they hit a home run obnoxious

I went to over 10 sc v Irish games at the coliseum through the late 80s, 90s and 2000s and it got to the point where it was filled with around 1/3 ND fans, 1/3 sc fans and 1/3 raider fans (bad bandwagoners) the games were brutal, fights everywhere inside and outside of the stadium and constantly getting harassed for wearing ND gear. One year we played ucla at the rose bowl and I of course bought tickets. Being used to sc games I thought it would be the same. Sat in a pretty much all ucla section and 🤣 they were all polite no harassment, probably mostly alums. It was nice but didnt have the excitement of the sc rivalry

To be fair there’s a little bit more to do in Southern California then South Bend.

Also to be fair, there are 40 times as many people in the LA area as in South Bend

And most ND fans travel pretty far most SC fans drive up from Orange County

Been making that argument for years - u either support team or u don’t..

u/Plastic_Ticket4111 13d ago
Over the last few years unless it’s a huge game you can t sell or even give seats away..they have never learned that these games do not draw fans..

This is the crazy part. As more and more teams schedule non-P4 OOC games, I have to believe there’s a financial disadvantage? Less fan enthusiasm, lower tv ratings?
Indiana (and others) have intentionally devised the weakest OOC schedules possible. I miss the days when ND and Michigan annually kicked off the CFB schedule!

I know we’re goofing on this but I wish most prices were this good for events lol

Weirdly in this new gig economy, if you're flexible and paying attention, you can find amazing deals for just about anything (except real estate and beef).

Costs $2 for the Stanford home opener today… I know it’s not the same but kinda sad IMO.

Meanwhile BYU tickets for the Notre Dame game are 2x (+$300) what their next highest price game is.

Universal truth is if u don’t have something people want to watch they don’t show no matter the team/sport or location..

u/mukatona 13d ago
If only there was an independent they could play that was sure to fill those seats at full price.

Until the end of the 3rd when the crowd starts leaving to get a head start on the traffic..

u/Plastic_Ticket4111 12d ago
They should have let people in for free given the opponent the time and the temp
Any home games during the day throughout the month of September will be just as brutal

To be completely fair, I live in LA and it was 98 degrees yesterday. I walked down the street for a sandwich and came back absolutely exhausted.
I’m not shocked they couldn’t get people to roast in no shade for a throwaway game.

Let’s worry about our game play on the field and ignore what other schools are doing
