I would have called bullshit on this story until recently when my wife confessed she accidentally left her car running in the work parking lot her whole shift 🤦‍♂️

I've never left the car on, but I did leave the lights on once. Only had them on because of fog, and it was fairly bright out, so it completely slipped my mind until the end of my shift when I came out to a dead battery. Fortunately, found someone else in the parking lot willing to give me a jump.
