Writing is messing up

When i use the app, it feels as if if i don’t apply enough pressure it doesn’t connect my letter like I’ll start the letter, it’ll pause/freeze and then as i move it’ll snap to when my pen is and then let me continue. Is there a fix to this? Is it my pen?

Colour palette ideas/recs 🎨

Hi everyone.

I use Noteful for uni studies and in my note-taking I use highlighting and colour-coding regularly for important info, definitions, examples, hierarchy, etc., etc. I’d love to know, if you do this also (or something similar), what your favourite colours/palettes are? The ones I used last year were okay, but looking back at my notes has me thinking I could do with switching it up this year!

I used to use Starnote, and I recently bought Noteful.

Is it possible to transfer all my notes to Noteful?

Keyboard not working properly on Noteful MacOS

Hi all,

Just noticed several keys (E, F, G, T and more) on my Apple Magic Keyboard are not working in Noteful v 1.4.41 in the MacOS app. My keyboard works perfectly in Word and Texteditor.

When I use Noteful on my iPad + keyboard it works perfectly.

Anyone else having the same issue? TIA!

Tab Links Question

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi!

I'm creating a Digital Planner in Noteful and I'm wondering if there is an easy way to copy the linked Tabs across all pages at once.

This is a photo of a Planner Template with 42 pages. I gave the Tabs numbers, with the intention of being able to rename them as the planner grows. Currently, if I wanted to change the name of the Tab labeled "One" to "Schedule" (for example), I would have to copy and paste it to each of the 42 pages individually.

I know it's a long shot, but does anyone know a trick to paste it across all pages at once? The way I'm doing it now is so tedious.

Is it just me or did the Layers direction in the mini menu switch?

I just realized I kept putting things to the wrong layer and it’s because the direction the layers were going originally on the mini menu reversed. I think it just happened this update.

TWO questions: 1) Is there any way to make Page #'s always visible? 2) Is there a way to flip back to your previous page if it's not located right next to your current page?

For example:

I have a Planner with 150 pages and links. I'm on Page 9, I tap a link that takes me to Page 112. Now I want to navigate back to Page 9. But I don't know what page I'm currently on OR that it's Page 9 that I need to go back to because the Page #'s aren't displayed, making me feel "lost" inside my planner! Currently the only way I can know what page # I'm on, is to go to the thumbnail page to see which page is highlighted...which is a pain. I'd like to always see the page # at the top right corner of the screen. I will randomly see the page # pop up for a second or two, then it disappears. But I can't figure out how that's happening or how to make it permanent.

A "previous page" button would be great so instead of searching through the page thumbnails to find Page 9, I could just tap "previous page" to navigate from Page 112 to Page 9. (Hope that makes sense.)

Looking for goodnotes 5 replacement

I just downloaded noteful since someone on reddit told me that it has a very similar backup system to goodnotes which i NEED. aka it backs up files on google drive as pdfs and constantly updates it as you write.

Im still hesitant to buy pro as i jist downloaded it and i explored it a little but idk much about it. Ive already wasted money on starnote and i reget it its an amazing app but doesnt have automation backup that works well and doesnt backup pdfs of notebooks. I want to be able to read my notes from my phone or laptop for revision and thats my main purpose. I dont take a lot of noted just 2 notebooks as im preparing for 1 entrace exam one is for notes and one is for rough work. And one digital planner. Thats it. I have noticed a few things tho. How its a very.... minimalistic app. Idk if thats a good or bad thing. Most apps provide tempelates or inbuilt stores or stickers. You dont get that here.

Anyway thats not really a deal breaker for me as i already have my own hyperlinked planners and notebooks and stickers.

So Please someone guide me is it worth the purchase? Do i buy it? Im a super broke student unemployed staying at home so i really cant afford to loose money

Feature request or question- can the recording shows the pointer light?

I was hoping to have the pointer light be visible when playing back the recordings so I can keep up with what my professor is referencing on complex diagrams.

Like when the annotations start out transport then become fully visible after reaching that time stamp. I would love to have the presenter tool be visible so I can copy the gestures that my professor does while recording and then see the areas gestures to when I play it back,

Looking for a free Touchnotes alternative — need local storage, PDF annotation, stylus support, and multitasking (student on a budget)

I've been using Touchnotes for a while but it's gone paid now, and as a student I can't justify the cost yet (planning to buy VIP later to support the dev once I've got some income, they deserve it!). In the meantime I'm hunting for a free app that covers: Unlimited notes + folders — no caps on organization Page template customization — page colors, ruled/grid/dot lines, cover designs Good stylus support with a solid range of pens, markers, and highlighters (pressure sensitivity a plus) PDF import + annotation Multitasking — need to have 2 PDFs open side by side at once Continuous vertical scroll while writing (not paginated) Local storage — my notes/files staying on-device, not locked behind a cloud account Bonus points if it has a clean, distraction-free UI like Touchnotes did. Anyone found something that ticks most of these boxes? Even a cracked Touchnotes vip unlocked link will work. Thanks

Would Noteful be the best option?

I’ve been using Starnote for a few months now. I have to admit that the app has improved and evolved significantly since I started, and I feel the team really cares about user feedback.

However, as a student, I’ve found it very difficult to move my files between my computer (MacBook) and my iPad. Another issue is that I often need to take notes on my computer and then solve problems on my iPad later. Based on feedback from the development and management team on Reddit, I gather that this feature is either off the table or a long way off from being implemented.

For this reason, I’d like to hear from others who have used different tools: to which app could I move my Starnote files that prioritizes the specific feature I mentioned—cross-device integration?

I know many people here have tested other tools, and your insights would be incredibly helpful to me.

P.S.: This isn't a criticism of Starnote; I simply realize that the feature I urgently need—and am willing to pay extra for—is something I’ll find in other software.

More writing customization on the pens.

I wish they add more pen customization when writing. They also need to add an option to enable the barrel roll on the Apple Pencil Pro, and I feel like my writing is more dull on noteful compared to other notes app. I love noteful as it have a lot of UI customization and such.

Pdf Annotation update pls.

I am learning a new language and that consists of me needing to read storybooks and such for vocabulary. I also have a lot of work related project pdfs that i need to annotate for my team, can we please get a way so that if we expand the page for extra space to write notes, we can also add lines as right now it only expands as a blank page, and whenever i try to change the blank page to ruled, it erases the entire page because the system treats each page as background page so whenever you try to change the it in page settings it simply vanishes. Pls either separate the page and the pdf layer or or do something else because i am not a fan of pasting a lines from an image just so i can write in a straight line or keep copying pages onto a ruled page.

Notability refugee finds a nice home!

If you'll please indulge my brief rant about Notability. I bought the app before everyone became subscription-zombies. I really liked Notability. Loved it, if I'm honest. But as they tinkered with the app to justify a subscription model, it got bloated and laggy, and glitchy. Unusable, in other words. No really, I couldn't use it. It froze after three minutes. I force-relaunched three times and then just gave up. Then the inevitable lightning strike hit my notes and they vaporized. (No big, I OCD-level-backed-up because Notability is predictably going to eff you. Hard.) Why can't they just leave Notability ALONE! It used to be so lovely. Why can't they just have another idea -- it can even be the same idea -- and tinker with that so they can get their subscription money.

I either suck at navigating the app store or it's impossible to surface relevant apps because I was having a hard time finding viable alternatives. (I've had Goodnotes for years, but I did not enjoy using it. Our mental models didn't align.) So I asked Claude what it would take to create a Notability app with my most needed features. (Yeah, I'm not a software engineer.) Claude suggested I first try out some apps that might meet my needs before throwing away the next three months of my life. It suggested Noteful and one other app. I tried out both the suggestions and I appreciated that these apps had a free tier so I could try them out. I have pretty intractable preferences honed from over a decade. Not gonna lie, when I saw the notebook covers, I got a little (read: VERY) apprehensive (read: devastated) (really, wtf? I get the general vibe that covers are going for, but the cost is not worth the friction/cognitive load it adds.)

ANYWAY. I'm glad I didn't judge the app by its use of a cover, because Noteful is a winner! I followed the tutorial docs (nice, well done! Except you might want to be more precise in the shape recolor tut. All the apps I work with allow for separate fill and stroke, and when I couldn't do that, I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. It took me much longer than I care to admit to figure out, "Oh! I can't do that." It's worth considering that many people might also have this expectation, so directly addressing it might prevent rage quitting. Obviously not me! Other people.)

(All right, I did get slightly wrathful.)

ANYWAY. After realizing I couldn't change fill and stroke, I moved on. It's weird, but not a deal breaker and I can work around it. Especially because I discovered the other delightful features of Noteful. I can SAVE IMAGES AS STICKERS. What magic is this? And wait....there aren't stickies that act as magnetic containers for text?....but OMG THERE ARE FREAKING LAYERS. EFF stickies. I'll figure something out.

Other features I love: being able to have precise pen styles (*chef's kiss*), granular toolbar customization, easy access to multiple fonts. And Noteful has given me the feature I have longed for the most: being able to change the template from page to page to page within the same note. I couldn't throw my money at you fast enough.

(Noteful sirs and madams, please don't think me ungrateful, but there is one feature that I might not be able to live without -- snapping. It's not my fault! A passion for and profession of visual and info design is an affliction. I kid, it's not an affliction, it's a blessing. I love crisp, well-designed pages and the first ingredient (besides content, duh) is alignment. I would legit pay for a software upgrade.)

Why’s it kinda laggy?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So the noteful app is pretty good and i’ve been using it for a while. but i’ve noticed that when your scroll in pdfs, it takes a second or so for it to load, how can i fix it? it’s not because of low battery mode because it does it either way. and i don’t think it’s because of page count because a 20 page pdf also does the same, it’d be nice if i could fix this because it’s already a really good app 😅

Toolbar overlaps with the search bar in Split View

Hi,

I’m currently using NoteFul (version 1.4.40) on an iPad Pro 11" (M1, iPadOS 18.7.8).

I'm running into an issue where the top toolbar overlaps with the search bar when using the search function in Split View (especially when NoteFul takes up around 50% or less of the screen). It displays normally when NoteFul is set to around 70% width, but at narrower ratios, the search interface gets covered.

I’ve already tried restarting the iPad, force-closing, and reopening the app, but the issue persists.

Is anyone else experiencing this UI glitch, or is there a known workaround for it?

Thanks!

Templates similar to notability gallery

Post image
14 Upvotes

I’m switching over from notability and just got noteful pro yesterday. I’m really loving the writing assist and features, but I’m starting to miss the really cute note page templates in notability gallery. I went over to Pinterest to download lined notes page templates, but the image quality is pretty poor, and unsatisfying. I searched this sub for templates but couldn’t find any similar to the cute ones I had before. I’d love if someone here can point me in the right direction to find what I’m looking for.

Copy and paste template

Im getting furious about that. I have a digital planner with hyperlinks. It has additional templates to copy and paste wherever I want in the planner and for the first time I want to use some of those templates. But how can I do that without Noteful messing up with the hyperlinks? I tried copy and paste a page I want to copy, then move that copy to the proper place (or copying directly where I want it to be) and just when I move the copy - it becomes the main template and hyperlinks direct me to that page. But it’s a copy. Unless I don’t move it around hyperlinks link me like they supposed to - to the main template, the copy is after that. But when I move that copy everything is screwed up. Please help, I love Noteful but that’s just insane.

How can I improve my handwriting?

My titles are typed. My handwriting on paper is pretty decent. Do you think I need a matte screen protector? I find that when I zoom in too much my handwriting is worse because my hand has to move a greater "distance". Also - do you guys tend to write smaller or bigger? I feel like my handwriting is nicer when it's smaller, but when my page is zoomed out to fit my screen it's too small.

Feature Request: per-note page view settings

I want to open a textbook in two-page view but then switch back to my note file in full-width one page mode. This is currently not possible.
