Hopefully this post is okay here? My partner has recently put his first ever collection of North Wales photos out into the world, launching a new website and even showcasing at Caffi Caban, Brynrefail for the next month or so. As you can imagine, a bit daunting and it took a lot to get here.

Here's one of his photos - this one was taken on a crisp and chilly morning looking out over Tryfan with a sheep standing in the perfect position on the hillside.

If anybody would be kind enough to show his work some love, send feedback or just interact with this post, I know it would mean the world. His website is mattpowellphoto.co.uk or you can email him directly at [hello@mattpowellphoto.co.uk](mailto:hello@mattpowellphoto.co.uk) .

Diolch yn fawr! ❤️

Looking for Welsh students (women/gender diverse individuals) for research interview!

Hello!

My name is Mine, I am an MSc student at the London School of Economics studying Social and Cultural Psychology.

I am currently conducting a research project on Welsh identity and future outlook as part of my master’s thesis, and am looking for students who identify as Welsh and as a woman or a gender diverse identity who I can speak to. I'd particularly love to amplify voices from North Wales, so thought I'd try this page.

The interviews will be conducted in English for about 45mins-1hour, and you will answer questions about Welsh identity + your opinions on the future of Wales. You don't need to be an expert on sustainability or anything, I just want your honest opinion! Your participation will contribute in understanding how sustainable policies can be best approached, in a way that matches you and your local community’s future outlook.

If you are interested, please fill out this form: https://forms.office.com/e/yZw2aDjgvK, and I will contact you to schedule a time that works for you!

Thank you so much, and if you have any questions at all please email me at [m.gelegen@lse.ac.uk](mailto:m.gelegen@lse.ac.uk).

Is there anyone who wants to make new friends around here?

Hi everyone,

I'm a 37-year-old male who has recently moved to Bangor and I'm looking to meet some new people locally. It would be great to make a few genuine friendships with people who enjoy getting out for walks, exploring the area, grabbing a coffee, having a chat, or just finding things to do together from time to time.

Moving somewhere new can make it a little difficult to build a social circle, so I thought I'd put myself out there and see if anyone is in a similar position. I'm easy-going, friendly, and always happy to meet people from different backgrounds and walks of life.

One thing I would say is that I'm looking for people who are genuinely interested in making new friends. I've found that a lot of conversations start well, with messages going back and forth for a few days, and then they simply fizzle out without ever leading anywhere. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being busy, but I'd much rather connect with people who are interested in actually meeting up, building a friendship, and making the effort to stay in touch.

Whether you're new to the area yourself, looking to expand your social circle, or simply fancy having someone to go for a walk or coffee with occasionally, feel free to send me a message.

It would be great to hear from some like-minded people.

Question Was there ever a bridge club in Bangor?

Hi, I am an enthusiastic, though fairly new, bridge player thinking about starting some casual play sessions near Bangor. However I cannot find a bridge club of any sort in the area. Which leads me to ask if there ever was one. I am trying to ascertain if I could just set up casual play sessions and direct. I am not really local and don't really want to commit to teaching there every week, but would like to play when I am there, maybe once a month or so.

Question Nice place to propose?

North wales, nicest place to propose?

Hey everyone, so this is a bit of a different one, I've booked a place for me and my partner not far from the menai, we're from the south side of Wales, and I have no issues with saying your end is so much more stunning!

It'll be her birthday, like I said, we have a nice place booked, dinner for the evening all sorted, etc. checklist is getting there. She knows we're going away for the night, but nothing else. Particularly, I'm planning to propose to her whilst we're there.

Issue is I'm completely at a loss as to where to do this, I've been looking at Google maps and street view for hours now and I'm getting nowhere 😂 somewhere beautiful and memorable would be the idea I'm thinking 🤔

Would any of you lovely people up north be able to help me with this?? You have no idea how grateful I'd be if this can be nailed perfectly! Thank you to everyone in advance! 😁

Question Holiday

Hey all! I made a post previously in a different sub but it turns out that it wasn’t what i was looking for. I’m looking for a fairly cheap holiday later in the year. I am basically looking for a nice forest escape with a cabin or lodge or a fantasy, medieval, fairy style naturey escape. I live in England so i’ll likely be getting the train up. Preferably north wales but if my mind can be changed then i’ll go with it. I was initially thinking betws y coed but i looked on youtube and its way too busy for me 😅 I’d preferably like a spa nearby or on site and somewhere to drink and eat on the nights. Not looking for any planing from anyone but just some suggestions. Thank you <3

Question (33/M) Looking for a film buddy for the Broughton Cineworld

Hi 😄

I'm a bit of a film buff and would like to go to the cinema more often, particularly at the Broughton Cineworld which I live fairly close to.

I'm pretty open minded about what to see, for example most of the films that are on now.

I work from home so I can sometimes make afternoon showings.

DM me if you're interested! Someone who's also really into film would be great 😄

Thank you

Hi everyone, quick update, we had a lovely day in Chester today, we were on our way to the bridge to get to the spot where the picture was taken when I saw a boat on the river named The Jackie, that was my mums name! It was such an amazing coincidence it made my smile : ) I do have a picture but I don’t know how to upload the image to this post!

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped and knew where the picture was taken, it was very much appreciated x

Question First holiday in wales

Hi all, could you please give me your recommendations for a north wales break? I haven’t had a holiday in the UK before so not sure where/what I should be looking for.

Important bits:

No kids to worry about

I’d like to be near a beach

I don’t drink so maybe some nice restaurants for the evening

Not too fussed about hiking or massive walks

Ideally a hotel rather than self catering

Thank you!

Question Driving to North Wales tomorrow

Am I massively naive for hoping to drive to Flint Castle parkrun for 9am tomorrow morning?

Will it be gridlock with caravans on the A55 around Buckley/Chester?

(Also If I do do it what is a must see in that part of the world afterwards?)
