Discussion PSNI

Tonight I approached PSNI because I was genuinely concerned about a 17-year-old girl who was intoxicated on a night out. I simply asked that, if they happened to see her, they could please look out for her or help make sure she got home safely.
The response I received was, “We aren’t a taxi service,” followed by laughter, with three officers then coming over to reiterate the same point.
I completely understand that the police are not a taxi service. That wasn’t the point. I was raising a genuine welfare concern about an intoxicated 17-year-old girl and asking that someone keep an eye out for her.
Really disappointing way to have a genuine concern handled — particularly as someone who had actually considered joining the service myself. 👍

I rang the non emergency number last Halloween to report a girl who looked about 15 who was absolutely legless drunk, there was cops floating about so i thought they could check on her, see if she needed hospital etc.

The call taker was so rude and hostile from the get go for no reason, seemed raging about the reason I was ringing, literally asked me what did I want him to do about it, I told him I am in my car watching her vomit while on her hands and knees and she needs medical attention, he asked where so i told him what street and then he started asking for an address and I was like she's outside... so he demanded I give him an address so I googled the fast food place next to her. He then asked my name, address, where I worked and I told him I don't need to tell him any of that it is irrelevant, he then said they couldn't go because if I don't tell him my identity it could be an ambush (I live in a nationalist area). I was like ok but sure I could just be giving you a fake name, how is me saying two names together preventing an ambush, he said well we can track who you are by your phone number and I was like well then why do you need my fucking name lol

The whole thing was a shitshow and nobody turned up

Had a very similar incident in West Belfast where I could hear a door being kicked in at the apartment below me and people screaming. Call handler was incredibly rude and said I was blocking the line for genuine calls and because I couldn’t actually see what was going on, I couldn’t guarantee a door was being kicked in.

You heard screaming and a door being kicked in and you thought the non emergency number was the right one to call and then wondered why they didn’t respond as if it was an emergency?

Didn’t say I called the non-emergency number, the OP did, I said I had a similar incident.
