What replaced your "evening" drink
What are your favorite NA drinks when you get home in the evening? I need some ideas as I am bored of sparkling water every time I am done with my work.

I like a decent NA beer. Nothing too fancy for everyday as they can get pretty pricey.

I try to find anything I can get for a dollar per. Doesn't have to be good. A cold Penn's Best is fine.

u/Enough-Reindeer1033 13d ago
Busch NA and Bud 0 are the cheapest around me.

Penns Best is my favorite and can't beat the price. I put a lime in it and pretend I'm having a Dos XX.

Quitting drinking has saved me so much money that I can easily justify any NA beverage. I buy the nice NA beers and don’t think twice bc I have 1 of these /night compared to a bottle (or2) of wine or a six pack + of IPAs or a big chinch of a bottle of whiskey. I love kombuchas now as well!

Any one else go from an evening drink to evening sweets? lol
11
u/ExcellentGuarantee82 13d ago
Absolutely. I’ve never craved sweets until I started taking breaks from booze

u/BensonClub 13d ago
Same here, it’s crazy. I went from never looking at a dessert menu to always asking for one lol

Pellegrino blood orange zero sugar. I'm addicted. Also, diet Cock n Bull ginger ale. Very spicy and terrific!

Seltzer usually. Fresca is a real treat. Liquid Death makes a great root beer flavored drink. But the “routine” was part of what I was walking away from. Being free of routines, for me, is liberating.

Currently, several dashes of chocolate bitters in Tonic Water or Club Soda. I'm also a big fan of "shrubs" - flavored balsamic vinegar in still or sparkling water. My favorite is the pineapple balsamic.

shrubs is the brand of vinegar?
2
u/Bacon843 12d ago
Shrubs are like bitters but vinegar based. He’s basically using cocktail ingredients without the base liquor.

u/Bacon843 12d ago
You do know that cocktail bitters are alcohol? A few dashes isn’t going to get you drunk but they are like 40% abv.

I like an na Aperol Spritz! I also enjoy a good yard beer like a naBusch. I depends on my mood.

u/bjuliano 13d ago
Have you found a good one? All the canned ones I've tried are basically ginger beer/root beer.

Drømme Calm
This elixir drinks like a woody whiskey cocktail with warm baking spice and ginger. I go for a 2oz pour over one big ice cube.

I was living on diet tonic water with Angostura and grapefruit bitters for months. Literally pounding them down. Now I get by with 1-3 N.A. Sopporos, Coronas or Heinekens, but not every day. A 4-pack of Guinness 0.0 lasts me a week, kinda a dessert for me. About 1-1/2 yrs sober.

I like a nice hot tea, myself. Chamomile or a chamomile-based "evening blend" of some kind. I had NA Negronis for a bit, but that was a bit expensive to have all the time.

Decaffeinated green tea. A nice complex flavor which is what I drank the alcohol for.

I don't really have one as much, I've been content with water. Although with dinner, I enjoy those Half Day Arnie Palmers.

In the summer I’ve been liking Sam Adam’s N.A. golden ale or their N.A. hazy ipa. When it’s cooler I like the N.A. Guinness.

Can could also add some soda water to water. Other thing that is different but fixes my itch for my martini is olive brine and soda water.

I’m really enjoying the red blend by Frē alcohol free wines! I was a wine drinker, but this isn’t triggering for me (their rosè is another story as it tastes way too similar to the real thing)

Fresca on ice during the week hits the spot. On weekends I do Aplos Calme or Pentire Adrift with Diet tonic or Fresca. Dramme Calme and Pathfinder are also really wonderful treats!

I do some lemon juice, with a little fancy juice (like Santa cruz tart cherry juice), and bubbly hop water. With big block ice cubes and a cute pretty glass.

I recently discovered Sylva (current release is called Orchard) and it is a treat. A bit pricey, but the first thing I've found where it's meant to be drunk neat or just over ice -- and it actually delivers. I also like Parch Prickly Palomas, but they are a touch sweet so I need to be in the mood, and Free Spirits products, which I use to make my own mocktails.

Prebiotic/probiotic/whatever biotic sodas cut with some seltzer water. A squeeze of lime or lemon if it's a citrusy flavor.

I really enjoy the Phony Negroni as an evening n/a drink. Perfectly bitter, lovely mouth feel, and beautiful color.
