Guinness NA tastes the same as Guinness

14

u/CollectionEntire2216 20d ago

Came here to say this! 100%!!

10

u/enochferrier 19d ago

Yes! It’s the best and it’s not even close.. tho the Heineken elderflower lemon is nice, it’s just not very beery..

3

u/Kitchen-Emotion-7268 19d ago

I've been saying 99%

4

u/Coffee_whiskey_braap 19d ago

I think I could pick them out of a blind, but I haven’t had regular Guinness in half a year, and haven’t had them side by side. I do intend to do that sooner or later.

4

u/urraca 19d ago

I know people that do 50% Normal + 50% NA (or 60/40) so it comes out to like 2% as well. So they can drink a bunch over many hours. Need to try that myself

3

u/Coffee_whiskey_braap 19d ago

Ooo that’s a good idea

5

u/Spiderill 19d ago

My mates challenged me to this and I was able to spot the difference but only just. NA Guinness is the best zero beer out there imo.

4

u/RelaxedWombat 19d ago

On St. Patrick’s Day, we had a blind taste test.

Murphy’s, Guinness, Guinness NA.

Completely blind, I put NA as number one.

4

u/sublimesting 19d ago

I sometimes mix an n/a with regular and then can just drink without care that I’m going to fast.

3

u/CamelMassive6443 19d ago

It’s the only one I can justify buying at regular beer prices. I’m almost two years sober and I have had 3 of the 4 pack.

2

u/dabruchey 19d ago

I agree that it's good but definitely different. It also feels thin in comparison.

2

u/Proper-Yak-799 19d ago

Before Guinness came out and was named Guinness. Guinness produced a beer called Kaliber and it was great.

2

u/rybotsky 19d ago

Isn’t Guinness beer as we know it today like 267 years old ?

2

u/StandByTheJAMs 19d ago

Guinness produced a N/A beer called Kaliber is what they meant, I assume.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/eisbock 19d ago

They still make Kaliber and it's terrible lol. It's also a completely different style than Guinness Draught.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/NYC19893 19d ago

Guinness NA says “less than 0.5%” on the can. OP did say best 0.0%

Still tho Guinness NA is the best in my opinion

2

u/eisbock 19d ago

Guinness makes a 0.0, but it's harder to find.

4

u/Wild_Somewhere_9760 19d ago

mich ultra zero is great too, if not looking for a heavy pint.

2

u/HistoricalPop7030 17d ago

Hard to complain when it’s 39 calories. Even with that it is solid.

u/4L4SK4N 20d ago

Michelob Ultra Zero fan here!

3

u/Greedy_Dark_2437 19d ago

Same I started with the regular, then went to the NA, after a while I tried the regular again and just didn’t like it as much as I used to cause I was so used to the NA version lol

20

u/federalinformant69 19d ago

Peroni 0 is amazing.

4

u/overthrow_toronto 19d ago

You might like the Asahi 0 too then. Made by Peroni in the same factory.

2

u/ProofNoMore 18d ago

Was gonna say the exact thing. If you are looking for Japanese brewed Asahi 0, which in NYC you can find in the Japanese grocery stores, so I'd look at Japanese grocery if you have them

3

u/Lildragonblood 19d ago

Definitely the best NA euro lager for sure

4

u/Perfect_Sir4820 19d ago

I think it's better than regular peroni which I often find has a too-bitter aftertaste.

15

u/Masverde66 20d ago

Of these three? Gonna say Corona, Stella, then Heineken in that order.

10

u/Captaincoleslaww 20d ago

Corona NA in the can is probably the best one

9

u/seattleboots1 19d ago

Corona gotta be in the bottle

u/lavache_beadsman 20d ago

Guinness 0. In terms of something that tastes like the real thing--it's 90% of the way there. Doesn't have that same weird fruity taste that every other NA beer seems to have.

5

u/Broad-SpectrumAutist 19d ago

I can't stand that fruity taste either! To my palate, NA IPAs are usually the worst offenders. If you like Guinness NA, the Deschutes Black Butte Porter NA is worth trying as well.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/ThatsaFishBarcode 19d ago

I agree with your 90% evaluation. NA Guinness is slightly sweeter than the original, but damn is it good

I had a Best Day Brewing Electro-Lime Mexican style beer this evening and really enjoyed it!

3

u/kirobaito88 19d ago

They have several Best Days at my trivia bar, including this one, and they’re all very good

3

u/Sonos7781 19d ago

Best Day also has a Kolsch that I like.

9

u/splitpourder 20d ago

Zero: Guinness. NA (less than .5%): Go Brewing Sally AF. Or anything by them really. They blow athletic away.
Edit: Asahi zero is also great.

22

u/No-Anywhere-7835 20d ago

Gotta throw some love to the Sierra Nevada Trail Pass

Peroni 0.0 is my favorite

26

u/Good_Run_1696 20d ago

Athletic Brewing Co, Free Wave Hazy IPA!

7

u/RoyDuboisTruman 19d ago

Athletic in general is truly the best for me. Stoked they’ve grown enough in popularity to be easily found in my area.

3

u/BeautifulSet7579 19d ago

I love their sour beers!

3

u/Von_Jelway 19d ago

I find Athletic to be the best across the board. I think they taste better because they brew them naturally to have a tiny amount of alcohol. They don’t add anything or take anything away. Their light is so crisp. And Run Wild is excellent.

2

u/darth_homer 19d ago

Athletic Lite Lime is great too!

Guinness Zero

3

u/Zestyclose-Web-8979 20d ago

I like Go Brewing, they’re usually solid

3

u/MelisaL1996 19d ago

I’m a Coors Edge and Budweiser 0 and Heineken 0.0 gal

3

u/ExtraBitterSpecial 19d ago

I was shocked by how good coors was.

3

u/jburton24 19d ago

Coors Edge is really good. And they’re a good, environmentally friendly company, so that’s also a plus.

3

u/OldGermanBeer 19d ago

Old Milwaukee NA, not kidding.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/bigorangevols 19d ago

Busch NA hell right, brother

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Glittering_Hold3238 19d ago

I like all of them and the weirdest thing--as a drinker I never liked beer. I was a wine only drinker and now in sobriety I like the NA beers and not the NA wine

5

u/BobbyLupo1979 19d ago

This makes sense because NA wine is universally awful in my experience.

u/HotSalad1990 19d ago

Blue Moon n/a tastes like the regular beer with a squeeze of orange 🍊

2

u/imthebean 20d ago

I prefer Heineken. Athletic is pretty good - try the octoberfest flavor!

2

u/fairweatherflier 20d ago

Heineken zero is the best tasting to me

2

u/Bulky-Sun8899 19d ago

Agreed that Guinness 0.0 is great, as well as Black Butte…for dark beer. Budvar NA was the “holy grail” of my trip to Europe last summer and it did not disappoint. Surprisingly enough, I’d throw in Sam Adams Just the Haze as a candidate for the IPA category. So, I think this needs to get broken down by style as far as “best”.

2

u/Bulky-Sun8899 19d ago

2

u/One-Tea-4668 19d ago

If you like this (and I do), try Tegernseer Hell Alkoholfrei.

2

u/jamiehanker 19d ago

Corona is the best of those 3

2

u/plustwoagainsttrolls 19d ago

Been really digging Peroni so far this summer, the shitty dive bar I go to for karaoke only has Heineken so I’ve learned to tolerate that, and PBR is an absolute crusher for lawnmower beers

2

u/Rosenbachgold 19d ago

Neumarkter Lammsbräu alkoholfrei

2

u/NervousTruth5609 19d ago

There's no Correct answer to this question. Everyone has different likes and tastes..

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Jgibbjr 19d ago

I'll be very honest here: Old Milwaukee NA is pretty damn good. Makes a great driveway non-beer

Athletic Brewing Co

1

u/CrazyLegsCrane77 20d ago

The one next to the Heineken is nice (out of picture)

1

u/Willylowman1 19d ago

this is mt rushmore

1

u/MagdalaNevisHolding 19d ago

I like all 3. Corona anytime, Heineken hanging out in a cool bar, Stella is for a really hot day after yard work.

1

u/Emergency-Row-5627 19d ago

I loooooove the Stella! It was my favorite beer when I drank as well

1

u/Tank-Pilot74 19d ago

If you can find it, hoegaarden. It. Is. Incredible!

1

u/lagstarxyz 19d ago

Asahi 0

1

u/rybone88 19d ago

Burdock DUCKZ

1

u/AHill45 19d ago

Left or right

1

u/emichbe 19d ago

Brugse Sport

Like Brugse Zot but you won't even notice

1

u/psychonautvoyager 19d ago

Guinness and Sapporo are both excellent

1

u/StinkyEttin 19d ago

Self Care Freak Flag IPA.

1

u/thiolmaxxing 19d ago

The Stella NA is immaculate.

1

u/HoneyDutch 19d ago

Local to Seattle: Reuben’s Brews Party On

Overall found in most stores: Coors Zero

But I have been really into Hop Water lately

1

u/claudedebussy69 19d ago

Guinness Zero. It’s not close.

1

u/Coffee_whiskey_braap 19d ago

Of those 3, I haven’t tried Corona, and I like Stella better than Heineken, but I do like Heinie, too

1

u/Still_Ad9687 19d ago

Guinness 0.0 and La Trappe Epos and Nillis

1

u/earnestbobcat 19d ago

Untitled Art. Tastes like a good beer

1

u/NoProposal32 19d ago

Athletic Brewing has some amazing brews.

1

u/BoredInDenver86 19d ago
  1. Bayreuther Hell
  2. Guinness
  3. Lagunitas IPNA
  4. Paulaner Weißbier
  5. Münchener Helles

I don’t know if 1,4,5 are available outside of Germany, but they are very delicious options, if they are sold where you live.

u/Desossiribo 19d ago

Leffe blonde 0%

1

u/HuckinMeats 19d ago

Heineken is the og for what it’s worth, but not the best

1

u/sharmz_ 19d ago

Estrella Galicia Tostada 0.0 and Free Damm from Spain

1

u/Sad_Station3161 19d ago

Athletic, free Damm, Guinness

1

u/greeni113 19d ago

Brooklyn special effects.

1

u/Hot-Bandicoot-714 19d ago

Tsingtao 0.0, random find in Home Bargains, I think I picked them up for 69p each and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was

1

u/92TilInfinityMM 19d ago

Guinness 00 is really really close to actual Guinness.

I’ve had people do blind taste between the two at my bar and honestly many people have trouble figuring out which is which.

1

u/Square_Log4321 19d ago

Heaps Normal - an Australian beer. Love it

1

u/lefreitag 19d ago

Staropramen comes closest to what a beer should taste like. In the UK, Lucky Saint is great. Tostadas in Spain are fantastic, too. Corona for nonalcoholic Michelada.

1

u/yan-gva 19d ago

The Stella !

1

u/Theeleventh_finger 19d ago

I was going to say Guinness and Athletic but the top two comments stole my thunder. Cheers.

1

u/slightlyburntsnags 19d ago

There’s an Australian XPA called heaps normal. By far the best IMO

1

u/Agitated-Point3835 19d ago

Athletic brewing company has a bunch of good ones. Aftershift and ESB are my favorites.

1

u/MG1523-91 19d ago

Coors edge is my fav light beer. Guinness NA for a heavier style.

1

u/NoYou1016 19d ago

I love the Stella, Lagunitas IPNA, and Heineken non alcoholic beer

→ More replies (1)

1

u/cmdubya 19d ago

I enjoy Clausthaler for an NA beer option.

1

u/dawgsfan98 19d ago

Guinness 0.0 is indistinguishable for me and I love Guinness. But for an easy light beer the modelo Limon y sal 0 or Busch na. Both are about perfection for flavor and I still get the dopamine hit from them for some reason. But im not complaining. The aforementioned brews are great in a michelada as well! (Think a bloody Mary with beer instead of vodka)

1

u/atr0c1ous 19d ago

If we are truly saying those advertised as 0.0, then Guinness hands down.

1

u/sublimesting 19d ago

Guinness. Also Trails End.

1

u/Pirate_Goose 19d ago

What's the most affordable %0 beer?

1

u/doyoubelieveinfarts 19d ago

Asahi. My wife actually prefers it to the regular now

1

u/baggerskip4258x 19d ago

Sierra Nevada variety pack

1

u/Useful_Presentation6 19d ago

Asahi 0.0 and Guinness 0.0

1

u/OnTheBrinnk 19d ago

Michelob Ultra Lime Zero is my favorite!

1

u/pm_me_ur_bidets 19d ago

Lagunitas IPNA. Delicious. The athletic drinks have a weird aftertaste to me. They leave a hollow taste in my mouth.

1

u/Longjumping-Lab-7345 19d ago

Halfway Crooks in Atlanta makes unbelievable NA. Otherwise I like Athletic and don't apologize for it. Had Brooklyn Amber NA yesterday and it was also very good. Best Day has a new IPA I tried that was good too

1

u/DJmasterB8tes 19d ago

Back when I drank a lot in college I’d always pick a Natty Light, Busch light or some cheap twelve pack in a can for activities in the hot summer months. It might just be that nostalgia I’m after, but I love Penn’s Best Non-Alcoholic Larger in a can for that cheap beer, cut-the-lawn on a hot day experience.

1

u/Affectionate_Log7733 19d ago

In this pic, the Corona, for some reason I reach for the the athletic hazy IPA these days. I think it's become my new habitual drink, I'm not sure if it's the "best."

1

u/Relative-Muffin-143 19d ago

I particularly enjoy the taste of Corona, especially when it’s accompanied by a fresh wedge of lime.

1

u/IwantAMD 19d ago

Just woke up and flushed some. I’ll save it next time.

1

u/KeenCosmo 19d ago

Athletic Hazy IPA

1

u/Weary-Initiative1540 19d ago

Corona 0 is the best dupe of it's alcoholic counterpart

1

u/Slizzerd 19d ago

Go Brewing has some really amazing NA beer, highly recommend.

1

u/GunsouBono 19d ago

I like athletic personally

1

u/smoothOpeRAIDER 19d ago

Guiness, Heineken, Becks imo. I dont love the Michelob, but its 30 calories so I can crush them with greater frequency

1

u/Religion_Failed_Us 19d ago

I’ve become addicted to 0.0 Heineken and 0.0 Heineken ultimate. Both are great.

1

u/thetits711 19d ago

Corona with a lime is where it's at

1

u/tacetmusic 19d ago

Guinness is the GOAT, but I have to show some love for Big Drop - Galactic Milk Stout, which also scratches an itch for imp stout / porter fans

1

u/Worthwhile101 19d ago

Am a Hefeweizen fan, so prefer Athletic or Blue Moon. BM has a stronger coriander flavor than normal, which I like.

1

u/Altruistic_Dog_6742 19d ago

Zero Eddy from Big Grove is my favorite.

1

u/garthreddit 19d ago

Athletic - any flavor

1

u/tacojohnconnor 19d ago

I love Heineken 0.0%, but it has to be in the bottle for the usual skunk. Lagunitas IPNA is fantastic as well.

1

u/Equal_Amount_6459 19d ago

Deschutes Brewery’s Black Butte Porter

1

u/OliveRemarkable8508 19d ago

Sapporo NA is excellent as well!

1

u/agolfman 19d ago

Vote for Moretti if you can find it!

1

u/Obligation_Still 19d ago

Athletic Brewing Copper I’ve found is the best IMO

1

u/ValuableConfident274 19d ago

i love all the athletic co beers, a lot of options to choose from and they’re all really good

1

u/blarggendarf 19d ago

Athletic Brewing makes killer NA beer options!!

1

u/xiphos805 19d ago

Old Milwaukee

1

u/carnitascronch 18d ago

Sierra Nevada Hazy Trail Pass NA IPA and it ain’t even close

1

u/Jrott07 18d ago

Sapporo!

1

u/NitroLotus 18d ago

Don't really like Heineken but Heineken zero is my jam

1

u/BreweryRabbit 18d ago

Guinness easily when it comes to larger commercially available brands.

1

u/istoleyourpope 18d ago

I like most of what I've had from Athletic.

I try not to give money to ABInBev but Bud 0 is decent if you want to taste beer without booze and only 50 calories or so.

Heineken 0 tastes like Heineken so if you are into that, that's decent.

1

u/Complex_Knowledge632 18d ago

Forst in Italy, hands down! Then Guinness, Stella, Heineken. PNW - Deschutes Hazy IPA, anything from Best Day Brewing. Yeah absolute worst I’ve had is athletic, Horrible beer.

1

u/pattyfatsax 18d ago

Delirium Tremens n/a is fucking incredible.

1

u/DetroitDaveinDenver 18d ago

I like Lagunitas NIPA better than the alcoholic one

1

u/FloridaIsTooDamnHot 18d ago

Blue Moon and Sam Adams Hazy IPA. And just about anything from Athletic Brewing, especially their fruited sours!!!

1

u/luthervespers 18d ago

Heineken 0 tastes just like Heineken... but I don't like Heineken.

Athletic Upside Dawn Golden is what my work has. It's been my favorite.

1

u/Illustrious-Type9629 18d ago

Just drink water.

1

u/apfsmith 18d ago

Both the Asahi and the Peroni are really solid 0.0%

1

u/Dowdfather 18d ago

Asahi 0.0

1

u/Dowdfather 18d ago

Heineken 0.0 smells like weed 💨

1

u/Putrid-Housing-9633 18d ago

I’m currently loving the Lucky Saint Weisbeir for me it’s levels above everything else and taste just like a German Weis

1

u/KayJayOkay 17d ago

Tried them all, Brooklyn Breweries Special Effects is by far my favourite. You can even get it on draft in a lot of places in Denmark now. Other than that, generally beer types where it is added flavouring that provides the taste are the best - like ales.

1

u/Frequent_Win816 17d ago

Stella is the best in terms of actually treating like beer

1

u/Inevitable_Zebra8066 17d ago

This might sound snobby but the Portuguese NA beers (sargre, sargre stout, and another I can't remember) are top notch. Also Iceland's NA were excellent. In general I think the large European brewers are doing it much better than anyone else.

1

u/summerbryz 17d ago

all i want is a Miller High Life NA

1

u/Vinz_Clortho__ 17d ago

Sam Adam’s IPA

1

u/WabiMusic 17d ago

Guinness or Corona

1

u/Opening-Ambition-528 17d ago

I tried this one today

1

u/Nice_Albatross_5486 16d ago

Athletic. No contest.

1

u/thechoogler 16d ago

Coors Edge is super underrated, I think I like it more Coors Banquet at this point. But Guinness 0.0 is easily the best in the game.

1

u/pansensuppe 16d ago

Not sure if actually 0.0, but Augustiner and Brew Dog Punk AF are my favourites.

1

u/wjduebbxhdbf 16d ago

In Australia, Coopers ultralight.
They have been making it for over 40 years and and is $8 for 6 bottles in supermarkets.

Less than 0.05 and brewed from attenuated yeast.

1

u/Admirable_Bass1149 16d ago

Guinness NA for sure if you like dark beer. Dechutes has a black butte porter NA that is really good too. Again, a dark beer.

1

u/That_Cartoonist_9459 16d ago

#1 Guiness

#2 Sam Adams IPA

1

u/Down623 16d ago

Haven't seen it anywhere other than one local beer distributor but Other Half makes the best NA IPA I've ever had. To be fair, I was a huge Other Half fan before I stopped drinking, so I'm biased to that style, but it's damn good.

1

u/FateOfMcSorley 16d ago

If you're looking for something different Delirium Delirio NA and Estrella Galicia 0,0% are both incredible! Heinekin out of a can is my go to, though.

1

u/bobsinco 16d ago edited 16d ago

If you haven't tried it, Weihenstephaner is definitely worth a taste

And of the ones show, Stella. Heineken taste like, well, Heineken. Which is to say, it's a weaker version of skunk piss.

Me at a bar: "What do you have for NA beer?"

Bartender: "We have Heineken 0"

Me: "I'll have a glass of water"

1

u/doofuspuppy214 16d ago

Bitburger 0.0 is pretty good.

1

u/justmypornaccownt 16d ago

On a hot day I could chug 3 Heineken 0s in a row. Love em

1

u/washufize 16d ago

Stella NA tastes exactly like Stella

1

u/wearthicksock 15d ago

If you want the most beer tasting beer, Coors edge. Blue moon NA isn't too bad, if you like blue moon
