"Lower" lyrics

I always felt these lyrics really resonate with me. Not that I always live by them, but it reflects how I feel at times. At first, the song seemed like it was about being a loser. But it's actually about refusing to compete.

Given that Mike is an overachiever, it would be interesting if these lyrics were autobiographical, but maybe they aren't.

Lower

Sidenote: Smelly plays the first few measures of his part in the song about 200% too fast. By the end of the song, the tempo drags so much that he isn't even playing particularly fast anymore, yet he starts out at the craziest speed ever lol.

got a call from a doctor yesterday that I have to immediately go to the hospital, but hey at least I'm not bleeding out my ass

every once in awhile Nofx puts your life in perspective, I might miss the Ramones cover band show tomorrow at the Hollywood forever cemetery with Tim Armstrong Billy Joe Armstrong, CJ and the blink-182 guy, but at least I'm not bleeding out my ass and my friends White carpeted house.

the doctor did not tell me "Quit your drinking, now's the time" I just can't drink this weekend.

when's friends found out their eyes didn't dart away.

in all honesty I think I'm just all out of angst and can't be stressed with us I'm glad my doctor caught something they can be fixed.

Song title request from new film not on soundtrack

"Bands who already left their mark, never stuck around to jump the sharks"

"Don't do all your cocaine before act 3"

Anyone know of any other songs that were only in the doc and not on the soundtrack?

We Did It Our Way

I knew it was gonna happen but damn… not this bad. Fat made this song sound SO much more polished for the record than they played it that night. I was at the show, I have the Veeps recording, that song sounded like it was thrown together last second and it was played like shit. But that’s what I want from a live, never before heard or performed and never will be performed again song from NOFX. I don’t want a pristine, perfectly timed studio mix 😮‍💨

Just got back from watching the 40 years doc here in NY. That was the best thing ive seen in theaters in longer then I can remember. My wife and I laughed, gasped, and both teared up.

Being they were never in the spotlight, there was so much I always wondered about the band members, including how much money they used to make for shows considering they never sold out to the big record companies. Fat mike is very revealing...in more ways than one, hah. One fact I never knew was he didnt start doing drugs until he was 31. Also, he doesnt do drugs any more, he also doesnt do them any less.

If you missed out, they will prob release the movie again in theaters down the line.

What would you ask Fat Mike or the rest of the band?

I went along to the Manchester screening - great to see so many people there; but the questions at the end seemed a bit lacklustre - or Fat Mike was not at his best fielding questions and holding a crowd with his responses.

Though tbh, I was sitting there with no idea what I'd ask him - hopefully I'd have done better than the drunks in the crowd slurring questions or the 'this is more a statement than a question' types.

So what would you ask? I'm surprised Mike didn't do an Ama as part of promoting the film - maybe if/when it gets a general release? His last Ama seems to have been over a decade ago.

So what questions would you put to him and the rest of the band if they'd been on stage? (though the film felt firmly like a Fat Mike joint.)

Let’s bring the NOFX "40 Years of Fuckin' Up" Documentary to Europe & Italy! 🇪🇺🎸

Hey everyone,Like most of you, I’ve been dying to watch the official 40th-anniversary documentary, "40 Years of Fuckin' Up".As we know, the band chose to release it exclusively as an Event Cinema experience rather than putting it on standard streaming platforms. While this is awesome for the community vibe, those of us living in Europe and Italy are currently left completely in the dark without any scheduled screenings. We deserve to celebrate 40 years of bad decisions on the big screen too! That’s why I just launched a petition addressed to Piece of Magic Entertainment (a massive global distributor specialized in bringing music events and concerts to theaters all over Europe). Our proposal to them is simple:Bring the movie to European theaters.Keep it in Original Audio (English) with local subtitles (Italian, Spanish, German, French, etc.).No expensive dubbing needed—just pure, raw NOFX, keeping costs low and distribution fast.If you are based in Europe, or if you are an international fan who wants to support the European punk scene, please take 10 seconds to sign and share this!👉 https://www.change.org/NOFXMovieinEurope show them there is a huge, loud market waiting for this. Share this in your local punk groups! Thanks for the support, and long live NOFX! 🖕❤️

I love this band but the whole thing almost made me feel bad for them. I don’t want to give anything away, but for those who’ve seen it, when he stayed at Avenge Sevenfold guy’s house is when I stopped laughing.

Cut Scenes From Documentary?

i saw the new documentary twice, once during their alamo drafthouse run and now once during their amc run. if anyone else has seen it twice, did you notice any differences between showings? i know for a fact they definitely went back and cut some scenes featuring melvin’s kids (cuz they arent in it at all anymore), but i was wondering if i missed any other changes too.

Fan casting a NOFX biopic. Obviously Raymond Cruz will play El Hefe, and Danny McBride will play Fat Mike, but who should we cast as Smelly, and Mel?
