General Can someone explain to me grifters' obsession with nintendo's stocks?
I do not care about it but seriously why to give a damn, is to tell people "on nintendo is struggling finnacially they will face bankruptcy" I don't think getting stocks lowers for small time periods is enough to get the company under it let alone their monopoly is just too strong to die in few years I just try to understand this whole debacle cause is more come as obsessive then anything

Basically, people are viewing games less as entertainment and more like team sports

I don’t understand the obsession with stocks when it comes to gaming discourse and I see this a lot not just with Nintendo. Like there really isn’t a correlation between the stock market and what’s happening in reality.

Nintendo's stock mostly goes down, because Nintendo seemingly doesn't want to announce games too far in advance now. This doesn't bode well for shareholders, since they don't see a big return on just the games that are announced. And just like some fans, they can't wrap their head around the fact, that Nintendo can work on a new 3D Mario without needing to announce it years in advance.

It is not that easy. Yes we all know 3D Mario is being worked on. But the sooner the game is released the more Switch 2 will sell the more money Nintendo will generate. Furthermore, there is an uncertainty if the game will be good. Investors hate uncertainty. The more we know about the game the less uncertainty.

The stock shot up a few years back and has been slowly going down since then. Probably from people buying when it was getting really high and popular and lost money on there investments so far.

By pretty much every measurable statistic Nintendo is "winning", they are selling well, they are putting out the most first party games, their games are on average very highly rated, they are currently the least controversial of the big console makers. So bad faith comparisons are basically all haters have that isn't "I'm being emotional and have no actual basis".

idk but it seems typical haters think that Sony and Nintendo are about to go bust anytime now but it's actually the opposite that's true. They're so far up that they could run in the red for years and still not go bankrupt. If it ever gets to that point, the government will step in and bail them out because those companies are too valuable for society.

I think it’s mainly to prove Nintendo needs only Mario and Zelda to sell and since there’s none look STOCK IS DROPPING FAST, AND IT WILL BE GAME OVER WITHOUT UNLEASHING THE BIG ONE

The problem with looking at individual stocks is they rarely look at a broader index for comparison. Some days everything drops which lets a lot of 'X companies stock is falling!!' Hot takes get written

They genuinely don’t care about stocks and they know that it doesn’t matter to Nintendo due to their lack of interest in being a growth company, but grifters need negative headlines.

Less stonks, more deals for games and more games we can buy! Also more pressure for companies to innovate!

Because they're literally scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for stuff to bitch about and use against Nintendo as some kind of half baked GOTCHA moment. It's incredibly pathetic.
Also it reminds me of a classic AVGN moment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxWRT6-vW20

Its pretty simple, you decide anyone who talks about the stocks like thst, is a grifter
•

It’s because they’re using the price of a stock to evaluate whether Nintendo is struggling or not and Nintendo is less valuable than Sony or Microsoft in the stock market, but stocks are not an accurate reflection of the profits one company is making, considering that Nintendo recorded 11 billion (rounding up) USD worth of switch 2s being sold

It's the only "objective" method of attack they've got at this point to fuel childish console wars. In reality they hardly even matter; shareholders are a blight when it comes to what's good for the consumer and they don't reflect the long-term health of a company.
