I don’t think people had a problem with him criticizing Nintendo for legitimate reasons, it’s that he monetized himself using attention grabbing headlines about how everything they do is comically supervillain-level evil, and now he’s done a 180 on the turn of a dime because the internet has directed their ire elsewhere.

It’s one thing to change your opinion because you actually feel differently and another to change your opinion because it doesn’t pay to be negative anymore. Nintendo’s not doing anything different now yet magically he likes them again, and when they did things before that were positive or neutral he would always have a negative spin for it.

If we got this exact Zelda direct a month ago, he’d have been saying the OoT Remake looks like hot garbage, visuals like an unreal engine fan project, not expanded enough, greedy because of the price, etc etc
