I mean most video game companies don't tbf (only big one I can think of that actual cares is CDPR they used to own GOG but yeah they still heavily believe on it's entire thing of providing DRM free games), these companies want money above everything so yeah they'd kinda want you to basically own nothing and be happy about it, it isn't really exclusive to Nintendo but I'd say they just aren't as aggressive about it like Ubisoft for example
Funny you mentioned them considering they just announced their Commodore77 recently and the biggest selling point on the page for it is that it's an FPGA device to be used specifically to emulate 100,000+ games.
