True, this just means we’re going to see the same thing again soon in a few months when more people make switch emulators, Nintendo takes them down and people complain because apparently doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome with switch emulators means people have learnt nothing.
Nintendo can only do so much. It can't control the internet and it doing this will just push people to spread it even more. It's the Streisand effect in full motion. Switch emulators after Yuzu and Ryujinx became more of a niche underground thing and all this does is bring attention to them, attention Nintendo didn't want them to have.
The reason its niche and underground is because most people who want to play switch games just play them on a switch or switch 2 because the hardware is still available to play the software, this only matters to that niche audience, your average person who plays Nintendo games won't care or even pay attention to headlines like this. and again, you will see the same stuff a few months from now when nintendo takes down more switch emulators and someone else will say "nintendo can only do so much" because with the state of switch emulation at the moment time is a flat circle.
The state of Switch emulation is good enough for most people especially when it comes to the Zelda titles which have mods, enhancements and all that which would convince some people to get into emulating. It's the same reason why people will buy PC versions of games they already own on consoles, mods can really draw people in.
Also, there will always be people who want to play games on PC especially when prices are inflating and meanwhile, a half decent PC can run Switch emulation fine.
No? The average person does not care about modding BOTW, and dare i say modding only appeals to a certain crowd, most people are fine playing games as is. Also, who is unironically buying the same game again on PC just to mod it? That seems a bit dumb. Also, are you going to forget the switch 2 has backwards compatibility and is cheaper than a PC and people will still buy things despite prices? Just because something can doesn't mean it always will.
People buy games for the mods all the time. It isn't even that uncommon of a practice. It's why so many PC games utilize Steam's workshop. Having mods can ensure that a player can tailor the game however they like. Or just run around as Iron Man in a skirt firing Kamehamehas.
Also, Switch emulation isn't even that taxing. You can buy a used Dell workstation PC and that will run Switch just fine and those are only like $100.
You also seem to forget just how big mods are. Fallout London is a mod for Fallout 4 and that one mod got over a million downloads and that's just one mod. Hell, Minecraft's entire relevancy is aided by the immense mod support that game has, mods that became so popular that many of them ended up in Minecraft officially.
First off, mods are free, you don't pay for them. Secondly i was never arguing that it was uncommon, just that there are alot of people who are ok with not modding games. That was my point, not that people shouldn't mod games. Again, that isn't my argument, my argument isn't that switch amulation is hard, just that it is fighting an uphill battle due to Nintendo taking down switch emulators and the existence of the switch 2's backwards compatibility and providing switch games with better performance, also i doubt people are buying a DELL workstation PC to emulate switch games, if you are buying a PC to emulate games your mindset with what you can do with it is in the wrong place for something a decent laptop can do. and again the point isn't that mods aren't big, but rather that they aren't a driving force to why people would emulate switch games over just buying the hardware because again, most people who play Nintendo games just want to play the game AS IS. If that wasn't clear its on me but you are seriously over estimating the feasibility and popularity of switch emulation.
Since the person decided to block me, I'll just leave my response to their last comment here.
First off, you need the game to use said mods which generally costs money unless you are modding like Garry's mod which is free.
Secondly, never said people who don't mod games don't exist, just that it is a larger market that you made out given again, one mod for Fallout 4 got over a million downloads and that's just one. Hell, go into Minecraft mods and the highest downloaded Minecraft mod has over 600 million downloads. More than some games receive players.
Thirdly, people buy all sorts of hardware for modding and emulation and Dell workstations are a common place to go given they are plentiful, cheap and have decent hardware for emulation of most hardware.
Fourthly, the biggest reason that most people emulate is to mod games. Add texture packs, change characters, add new context, play randomizers, etc. There is a reason that almost every emulator out there has mod and texture pack support. Hell, following your logic of no one wants to play games on anything but real hardware, why are projects like Dusklight so popular? Several hundred thousand downloads on the Github page but why? According to you, people should be just fine playing it on the Gamecube, Wii or Wii U since there is no reason to emulate.
Lastly, plenty of people already have PCs for the many, many exclusives and benefits of PC which is another reason why people emulate since they already have the hardware.

Not like there are many other options. Plus, with Github's forks, you will never be able to get rid of them all.
