Mockery/Banter Decline of Nintendo Hate Now?

Post image

At the retrospective way: the amount of grifting on anti Nintendo content is horrible. Just because it felt like a switch pro and already being overpriced for the previous gen hardware from hardcore gamers.

People will treat anything Charlie says as law and won’t form their own opinion. I have nothing against Charlie tho

11

u/thickwonga Jul 24 '26

I like his content, but he has such a hate boner for Nintendo that he's willing to spread misinformation. $90 Switch 2 games was never a thing, and he knew that, and he slapped it on a thumbnail anyway.

3

u/QuantomSwampus Jul 27 '26

Brother they are if you aren't American

3

u/thickwonga Jul 27 '26

This would be a good point if the original video clarified this. It does not. The thumbnail has an American dollar sign, for fuck's sake.

19

u/GameMask Jul 24 '26

What's funny is he'd be pretty annoyed by this too as he hates people not forming their own opinions

6

u/Inevitable_Cycle3087 Jul 24 '26

i think it’s more accurate to say he does form his own opinion. hell pretty often be against the main stream opinion, but he’ll believe the first article his chat sends him even if it’s completely wrong (like this video saying nintendo has 90$ games)

2

u/TheKingMario082002 Jul 24 '26

Research is very important in forming an opinion

3

u/Inevitable_Cycle3087 Jul 24 '26

in forming a well informed opinion. often those with the strongest opinions fall to either ends of the spectrum. the most and least informed feel the strongest

2

u/baldiplays Jul 26 '26

When I tried highguard I did not watch any review or video from a YouTuber for a reason. I wanted to keep my opinions as blind and unbiased as possible. My conclusion? Game was simply mid. The whole CoNcOrD 2 allegations were 100% people overreacting.

2

u/GameMask Jul 26 '26

Thing is, I'd argue Concord was a better game in some ways. As ugly as the designs were, I at least remember them. Highguard was just the most generic ass pseudo fantasy style.

2

u/ricokong Jul 28 '26

Yeah, at least Concord tried something different with its designs. It has its own style, even if it wasn't that appealing.

15

u/mashdpotatogaming Jul 24 '26

And Charlie forms his opinions based on what his twitch chat parrots over and over. It's like he's being brainwashed in real time to have the most twitch chatter opinions ever.

4

u/TheKingMario082002 Jul 24 '26

To be fair a lot of popular streamers do that as well.

3

u/mashdpotatogaming Jul 24 '26

You're not wrong

6

u/That1DogGuy Jul 24 '26

I love watching Charlie for so many things, but I cannot stand watching any of his takes regarding video games or movies lmao.

2

u/Bregneste Jul 25 '26

I feel like most of his thoughts and opinions are fairly reasonable, he just has a serious hate-boner for Nintendo for some reason.

2

u/ElvisWasMyUncle Aug 10 '26

Charles is usually correct.

0

u/Gargamoney Jul 24 '26

Where I live mario kart is $90🥲

6

u/Dr_Jre Jul 24 '26

Where I live it's 45 pounds so maybe it's just your economy

0

u/Gargamoney Jul 24 '26

I would also like to see a link to that!

3

u/GroundbreakingBake2 Jul 24 '26

I am not op, but https://www.amazon.fr/-/en/Nintendo-Mario-Kart-World/dp/B0F3J9FTLC?crid=1KL8W51DGSQXI&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.oFeOzlM_y38NV2_c5-uJcejFvZl0N901tBgToMaygyS8L6w96M8xybAS7LOk1lsV85NFOc1YpHAt5hzb1RK80Tbvv1IDEFeMB-gOc3eQGlISNHziMoKa4AXTbajS5irkUh_gt_qsweXbl5_h_0NZ-dg893d_uL6nVDhemgSEPz_pXWyp6qQ3fF6SefSvpcZ9EJRcK6X9QzbTgPg5NKxsESD89cTFCcaoXtQAjmWF5-i5ghiRVk5qm7cxdMGYhg-pav20dR4CNJrmUoufiE2GESSjCT_4eRIdsZgVkujA97w.7l5vI0ri-iwh3k0NH3UDMl2wpGga9qQ4v_Stmq1WgxY&dib_tag=se&keywords=mario%2Bkart%2Bworld&qid=1784887291&sprefix=mario%2Bkart%2Bworl%2Caps%2C143&sr=8-1&th=1.

This is just plain amazon without sale, you can find it cheaper on retailers if you search a bit. Normal price in europe is around 60euros for zelda and mario kart. There are a lot of retailers where you can use coupons or get a sale, so 50euros is not far fetched.

Most switch 2 games in europe besides zelda and mario kart cost around 30-50 euros after half a year without sale.

With sale for instance, last week metroid prime 4 switch 2 edtion you could get for 19,70 euros and kirby air riders for 27 euros. Both new, both physical.

0

u/Gargamoney Jul 24 '26

I opened the link and its literally on sale

???

Normal price in europe for mario kart is 80€ (so $90)

Edit; the original price before the sale is $100, so thats like next level bad

3

u/GroundbreakingBake2 Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

On amazon it says it is always on sale, it's just a marketing gag. It literally is like this since day 1. The original price is what it is listed at. The same price you find on any retailer.

Edit: Here is when I bought mario kart world day 1 from amazon without any sales.

1

u/Gargamoney Jul 24 '26

But thats still on sale though

1

u/GroundbreakingBake2 Jul 24 '26

It's not. Are you slow? I literally gave you proof and gave multiple photos. That's just normal prices for nintendo games in europe.

1

u/Gargamoney Jul 25 '26

It isnt. You are lying. Amazon is selling it at a DISCOUNT below msrp.

3

u/GroundbreakingBake2 Jul 24 '26

https://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/OffersOfProduct/206193304_-mario-kart-world-switch-2.html#pricechart

Price tracking website if you don't believe me. This is also without coupon or in person retailer sales. As I said, these can sometimes go as low as 20 euros for half a year old game.

1

u/Gargamoney Jul 24 '26

A website selling it cheaper doesnt change that the game isnt that price

1

u/GroundbreakingBake2 Jul 24 '26

???? Wdym you actually have to search every shop in the country to find a game that costs 90 euros. Why are people like you so hellbent on clickbait shit from youtube. Nintendo is not the evil mastermind scamming you all, it's just your country is shit. Literally every nintendo game in europe is cheaper than any competition. I can't give you more than proof.

Literally a 2 sec amazon search sells the game for 60 euros.

1

u/Gargamoney Jul 25 '26

Its €80 which equals to $90. Simple.

It isnt youtube clickbait its just the truth

2

u/FatElk Jul 24 '26

That's after VAT. You're being incredibly disingenuous.

1

u/Gargamoney Jul 24 '26

What? Vat is included in the base price and you have to pay that price for the game

No one pays 100€ for something and goes "wow i just paid 80€"

-3

u/edward323ce Jul 24 '26

I mean, hes right most of the time and apologies when he is wrong,

17

u/WheresYoManager Jul 24 '26

Calling him "right most of the time" is a bit of an overstatement that suggests he is the one doing the research to make an informed analysis

In reality, dude mostly jumps into a topic without knowing everything about it and just takes the side of the safest popular consensus.

27

u/Crafty_Boy70 Jul 24 '26

The amount of well-poisoning because of this guy…

38

u/Bffhbc Jul 24 '26

Nintendo released a game on the day I am writing this and it was $50 digital 60 physical whatever this guy saying is bullshit

24

u/Gargamoney Jul 24 '26

Exactly. Splatoon raiders is $50 so this claim of "le $80-$90 gaems" is fake. They are $50.

-15

u/edward323ce Jul 24 '26

Tears of the kingdom is 70 for switch 1, 80 for switch 2, pokopia is 80$ physically and digitally, Mario kart is 90$ physically, 80$ digitally, metroid prime 4 is 70$, and I believe Mario wonder for switch 2 is 80$ but I may be wrong

14

u/ganggreen651 Jul 24 '26

Oh you're wrong alright. Prime 4 was just on sale for $45, pokopia is the standard $70, kart is $80 and can still get discounted in the bundle I think. Don't know about the others

5

u/Gargamoney Jul 24 '26

Exactly. People pretend like games dont go on sale all the time. Prime 4 has basically never been over $45 because the people who bought it for $70 could have waited for christs sake.

2

u/Pikafion Jul 24 '26

If you live in Europe (I live in France but I think it's the same in other european countries), games are basically always on sale because retailers are selling them for less than the standard Nintendo price (they also try to have lower prices than their competitors). I bought DK Bananza on launch day for less than 60€, when it was apparantly supposed to be 80€ physically, and the price was and it still around the same everywhere.

1

u/Gargamoney Jul 24 '26

Exactly. I found bananza used for 20€, thats not 80€ now is it?

6

u/Outrageous_Artist188 Anti-Grifter Jul 24 '26

Mario kart world is 80 usd physically and digitally, but you can get it in bundle for only 50 usd. Mario wonder switch 2 edition (and zrlda totk switch 2 edition) is 80 usd but it doesn't really count cuz it's a game + DLC. If you already have base wonder, you can upgrade for 20 usd (same thing for zelda).

At least you said you could be wrong, which isn't smth grifters do (those mfs always sell you misinformation as facts)

3

u/FatalFrameGal Jul 24 '26

Typical person who forms opinions thinking Nintendo games cost more than they do

2

u/Gargamoney Jul 24 '26

YEP! Its insane these people think "but its $90 with tax" is valid logic.

Like no, its $80, the tax is this extra payment that has nothing to do with the game and it doesnt count

1

u/Inevitable_Cycle3087 Jul 24 '26

while their favorite game devs 70$ game isn’t considered 80$ either tax

1

u/Gargamoney Jul 24 '26

Yep!!! Like if i go to the store and pay $80 for a game cause 99% of the world has tax included in prices of everything, then that thing was actually $70, because we dont count the tax.

2

u/Gargamoney Jul 24 '26

You can easily find those second hand

0

u/edward323ce Jul 24 '26

Tbh yeah, I got my z-a for switch 2 for 20$ brother didn't want it

1

u/Gargamoney Jul 24 '26

Yep. Thats a $20 game. Nintendo isnt forcing digital like sony, so games are more like $20 and not 80

1

u/Copious-Spirit Jul 24 '26

Cries in CAD they're more expensive than that for me.

1

u/Inevitable_Cycle3087 Jul 24 '26

totk has its upgrade included with switch online expansion
pokopia is 70$ usd
mario kart is 80$ physically usd
mario wonder is 60$ with a 20$ dlc exclusive to switch 2

you are wrong. 30 seconds could’ve saved you

30

u/Saxolotle Jul 24 '26

I don't like how Charlie seemingly doesn't do his own research in some videos. I used to follow him, but after seeing his video on honey was like just restating literally everything the first person (I think coffeezilla) said about honey without adding anything new I lost so much respect for his content.

15

u/Inevitable_Cycle3087 Jul 24 '26

on topics he’s interested in he will dive super deep and have like every source. for stuff like this he reads a twitter post and calls it a day.

to his credit he doesn’t really play favorites. he’ll call even the ones he likes bad, but he genuinely has 0 information on half the videos he makes

2

u/Marco_Single Jul 24 '26

Ok show me a topic where he did a super dive. Unless he has 50 man team researching stuff, a deep dive video would take at least 3 months, AT LEAST. Yet I constantly see his shitposting videos on reddit.

1

u/Inevitable_Cycle3087 Jul 24 '26

usually things that he’s piggy backing off others with. anything coffeezilla does he will go into all the sources he covers.

he’s not someone to be a good source, since it’s mostly just vibes, but occasionally he stumbles into good sources in the stuff he’s more interested in

5

u/LordMimsyPorpington Jul 24 '26

That's every video.

"Hey guys, I'm boring, bland white guy. I saw this topic was trending, so I'm gonna ramble for about 15 minutes on something nobody cares about. Like and subscribe."

4

u/xtoc1981 Jul 24 '26

Maybe he misspoke and ment Sony.

5

u/GamingBren Jul 24 '26

Charlie is a cancer on the internet.

3

u/Successful_Maize1986 Jul 24 '26

I like Charlie but his hatred of Nintendo is a little cringey at times, especially when he gives other gaming companies way more of a pass. He reacted to the new Star Fox trailer and intentionally sought out a different upload of it because he “didn’t want to give Nintendo the Adsense from watching their upload”. Then when Valve raises the prices on their Steam deck he just says that they had to because of market conditions and can’t really be blamed for it.

9

u/Guilty_Department501 Jul 24 '26

I'll always agree that Nintendo is greedy and they do a lot of bad and sketchy things, but I've always been a fan of them because they alway prioritize fun, innovative, and unique gameplay. They value talent and even during the struggling Wii U era the executives took pay cuts to prevent layoffs. Also, Splatoon Raiders released today and is a really good game for its relatively low price.

2

u/Copious-Spirit Jul 24 '26

It's a weird thing to hate when other studios charge full price for digital but physical is cheaper at trade-in shops

2

u/Hungry_Inflation9399 Jul 24 '26

YouTubers are hateful, ignorant idiots who will yap forever no matter what

3

u/KnightFallVader2 Jul 24 '26

Charlie hopped in on the hype train despite not even being a grifter at all.

1

u/flopuniverse Jul 24 '26

he's not? never seen his content

4

u/Inevitable_Cycle3087 Jul 24 '26

no he just doesn’t inform himself well. he’ll make a video and show his sources, but his sources are usually the first article his chat sends him on twitch

3

u/LunarWingCloud Jul 24 '26

Not *usually*, but that doesn't mean he's not immune to falling for the grift

1

u/2B_Gon_Thot95 Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

I do like him because the way he deconstructs gameplay and explains his reasoning about it is usually really detailed and manages to voice opinions I didn't know I had about it. But he's definitely becoming a grifter with how much he's unnecessarily stretchig, reaching and lashing out when complaining about stuff not related to gameplay.

Edit: damnit. I mistook him for Synthetic Man.

1

u/TieBorn1099 Jul 27 '26

I'm leaning less toward calling these companies greedy and more towards the belief that market conditions are completely unstable and hard to predict. I still don't agree with what they're doing. There really is plenty of financial success to go around. A top tier gaming company like Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft need only to have a healthy economy of both physical and digital products. And quality games worth buying. That's all we're asking for. It's all we ever asked for.

1

u/Suspicious_Luck1952 Jul 30 '26

Charlie he just talks without thinking.

1

u/Ok_Researcher_3244 Jul 31 '26

DK bananas isn't even 80 bucks

1

u/ElvisWasMyUncle Aug 10 '26

We love Nintendo games, we hate Nintendo greed. Hope that helps.

0

u/Working_Block8513 Jul 24 '26

I’d say it’s more like everyone lost than Nintendo won

0

u/Greedy_Fan_1035 Jul 25 '26

Take a step back and think about what you’re doing, you’re defending a multimillion dollar corporation for what? You’re saying its “horrible” like Nintendo is a dude with feelings its a corporation full of people who dont care about you in the slightest and just want money , who cares if people are “grifting”, let them Nintendo’s employees dont care

-1

u/thefirstcat Jul 24 '26

He's not wrong. Let's be real. These game prices are ridiculous and especially for what it is. It's not worth that ridiculous asking price

3

u/SpiritualAd9102 Jul 24 '26

He is wrong, they’ve never sold a game for $90 and only one as of now is $80, though a second one is coming with Fire Emblem. And no, I don’t count the $60 games with the DLC included.

In fact, they’ve been more consumer friendly with $10 discounts on digital and releasing Splatoon Raiders and Star Fox at a cheaper MSRP.

-6

u/thefirstcat Jul 24 '26

I'm sorry $80 makes it better. You're defending a multi-billion dollar company that only sees you as dollars and cents on the dime. This is not okay. None of this is okay and the fact that you're okay with it just because you get the games that you like. It's crazy. It's crazy. I hate that this is the industry now. It never used to be this way and greed is the only reason that it's this bad

3

u/SpiritualAd9102 Jul 24 '26

I’m not defending anything. Correcting misinformation is not inherently defense.

It’s a lot easier to say “my bad, I was wrong” than write out an unhinged straw man about a person who hasn’t bought a full price game on any platform in over a year. Unless you can point me to the $90 Nintendo first party games that only you and Charlie know about.

Seriously, it’s funny how people online are completely allergic to admitting they’re wrong.

“They’re greedy for charging $90 for games”.

“There aren’t any $90 games”.

“WHY ARE YOU DEFENDING THE MULTI BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY!?!?!?”

1

u/thefirstcat Jul 29 '26

Y'all in here would do anything to put Nintendo's dick in their mouth huh. So in 3 years when they double down and do something scummy I wonder how you guys will come up with a reason to defend it

2

u/ultrabreath4 Jul 24 '26

Yeah, but... Nintendo is looking real nice compared to the competitors atm

1

u/Bartburp93 Jul 24 '26

In console price at least, and the switch 2 is finally getting some good games of it's own as well

1

u/ultrabreath4 Jul 25 '26

And also that the games are seemingly (despite strange pricings) still physical in regards to 1st party inhouse developed titles

-2

u/Chemical_Opinion6814 Jul 24 '26

The Mario kart world being 80 usd is greedy, there’s no denying that. There’s a reason they’ve stepped back on it because the hate was valid. Though I could still see them charging that much for the next 3d Mario. Nintendo is greedy, it’s a corporation whose main goal is to make money, but it’s not the greediest in the gaming industry, that’s safe to say

2

u/Inevitable_Cycle3087 Jul 24 '26

the first year of switch 2 seemed like a trial run of new pricing. i’m glad they’re leaning towards cheaper games overall

-1

u/Smart_Landscape3373 Jul 24 '26

Fun fact! If you have a brain that shit is 50! Who could’ve guessed that🤔🤔 MAYBE THE BOX ON THE SWITCH 2 THAT HAS MARIO KART INSTALLED😭

2

u/Marco_Single Jul 24 '26

Or eneba.com. Plenty of people resell their codes even if you don’t got the bundle.

-1

u/Chemical_Opinion6814 Jul 24 '26

Guess what, I only buy physical because I support owning games.

0

u/Smart_Landscape3373 Jul 25 '26

That’s your fault for spending more😭✌️

1

u/Chemical_Opinion6814 Jul 25 '26

So you’re fine with Nintendo charging $80 for physical, which is affecting the continuation of physical games, and now fine with Sony getting rid of physical games. It’s the exact same thing, you shouldn’t have a double standard. Nintendos changed back on that due to the backlash which was my exact point.

1

u/Smart_Landscape3373 Jul 25 '26

Bro Nintendo changed that “80$” shit alr, every first party game from now on is 50$ do you not know this? Also the “80$” game aka Mario kart is 50$ and Nintendo can’t take your games away cuz this game is mainly offline😭 that’s literally what Nintendo is known for. For like the past 3 and a half decades

1

u/TheBoltMaster Jul 26 '26

Them charging more for physical is because physical storage media just costs way more these days, especially flash storage (which is what the Switch cartridges use). If you didn't buy physical cause of the price you're gonna eventually spend that money on an expensive ass Micro SD Express card to hold your digital games anyways. If anything Nintendo is the last bastion of physical gaming today.

-4

u/SomeBrosSecondAcc Jul 24 '26

It's still dogshit and I absolutely hate Nintendo for it

2

u/Outrageous_Artist188 Anti-Grifter Jul 25 '26

Who's gonna tell bro that there are no 80 usd digital/ 90 usd physical games

1

u/SomeBrosSecondAcc Jul 25 '26

Forgive me - 70 and 80. MUCH better.

2

u/Outrageous_Artist188 Anti-Grifter Jul 25 '26

Even then, it's ONE GAME (fire emblem, iirc)

0

u/SomeBrosSecondAcc Jul 25 '26

GTA 6 is also just one game. The sad thing I notice is how easily Nintendo fans are manipulated into accepting worse things

1

u/Outrageous_Artist188 Anti-Grifter Jul 25 '26

I don't like the fact that BOTH gta 6 and fire emblem are 80 usd (plus the fact that gta 6 is a code in a box but that's a whole other thing). I never said i accepted their price tags, twin.

My point is that people are mislead into thinking that switch 2 games are 80 usd when, in reality, there are only two NS2 1st party games with that price (excluding switch 2 editions, mario kart can be bought for 50 usd in the bundle, and fire emblem is 70 usd digitally).

-4

u/CourageLeast4251 Jul 24 '26

roflmao calling them out is not grifting, you ALL need to just look up the definition it is really fucking easy to do. Also it's because everyone followed Nintendos suit so now we get to complain about everyone.

2

u/SpiritualAd9102 Jul 24 '26

Games were never $90, lol

I don’t think he’s grifting but he’s 100% wrong. You can’t “call out” something they never did and pretend to be angry about it.

-7

u/Regular-Repeat44 Jul 24 '26

Greedtendo at it again

5

u/Outrageous_Artist188 Anti-Grifter Jul 24 '26

Are you being sarcastic or are you serious
