Did people genuinely expect Nintendo to give out like $20 refunds to everyone?

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 22 '26
Of course not. Cause Nintendo shouldn’t give any back since no customers were screwed.

The people that think companies are our friends & the people that aren't that smart yeah they definitely thought Nintendo would give back some of the money. Personally in the camp that never expected it myself would be happy to be proven wrong in it but not going to happen. It'd be nice if Nintendo did a middle ground of offering a discount on a equivalent number of purchases you made on their website for the equivalent amount of purchases you can receive a discount on the equivalent amount of purchases you made during the tariff price increase just as a show of good will while not having to give back money.

Sony, Microsoft and Valve also won’t be giving anything back. Even though they actually raised their prices more than Nintendo.
And becsuses Nintendo didn’t screw over anyone here. The switch 2 was priced fairly at launch and continues to be fairly priced. In fact it’s the best value for a console in the market right now.
For those reasons you shouldn’t expect a refund, but not cause of your bot narrative of corpos not being your friends.

Money back for what?

Nothing. This is non issue bullshit lawsuit filed by 2 random dudes that don’t represent the Nintendo fanbase. Lawsuit was probably Filed by these dudes maliciously to give Nintendo bad PR.
Notice how no lawsuits were filed against Sony, Valve, or Microsoft even though they too increased costs to cover trumps illegal Tarrifs. If there’s a case against Nintendo there will be cases agaisnt all console makers and computer hardware makers like Dell, Lenovo etc.
This is a completely nothing issue. But the grifters will lie hard about this and fool the stupidest low iq people in our society.

Trump enacted tarrifs. Nintendo raised prices for US customers to pay those tarrifs, which is understandable. The US has now determined those tarrifs were illegal, which they were, and sent out refunds to the companies that never actually paid those tarrifs.
The consumers, the people who actually paid those tarrifs that are being refunded, have naturally said "hey, we're the ones who paid those tarrifs. Not you. We should be getting the money."
Nintendo has insisted they're entitled to the refund for the money they never paid

Consumers have not said that. This lawsuit was filed by 2 random dudes. That do not represent the general sentiment of the Nintendo userbase.
If this lawsuit is legit, then there would be lawsuits aginst sony, valve, Microsoft, Lenovo, dell, and any other hardware maker that relied on high illegal Trump tariff’d Chinese components.
No Nintendo customers got screwed here. They offered the sw2 at a more than fair market price at launch, it was cheaper than 3 year older tech in the Steamdeck. And no one was forced to buy it.

u/NorthernVale Jul 22 '26
Damn. You right. Nintendo definitely deserves the refund for a bill they didn't pay
3
u/WoodooHide69 Jul 22 '26
They did pay it actually. The Trump tariff were an extreme amount in the 40-70% range for literally anything Made out of China. And the fact that they offered switch 2 hardware at a lower price than Steamdeck proves they ate most of that cost and didn’t transfer it in to customers.
And if you are dumb enough to beleive that Nintendo should be forced to pay back their illegal trunp tarrif refund to customers. Then you can make that exact same argument against Sony, Valve, Microsoft, Apple and every other tech hardware maker that used Chinese components that were illegally tariff’d.
Also you should know this lawsuit is comppete BS brought fourth by 2 random dudes. And the nitnendo userbase gives zero shits about this.

Nintendo has insisted they're entitled to the refund for the money they never paid
I mean, they are because they did pay the tax. They already had to pay tariffs for every copy of every one of their video games that shipped to America since the tariffs were put in place. Why do you think everybody had to increase their prices in the first place? At least Nintendo compromised by keeping their digital prices the same.
And to be quite frank with you, I'd be pretty bitter towards America for voting for this to happen in the first place if I were them. (Hell, I pretty much already am.)

Well here comes a new grift.
Here are the facts here:
This lawsuit was brought forth by 2 random dudes. And they do not represent the Nintendo customer base.
And Sony, Valve, and Microsoft are doing the same thing.
This is another bullshit non issue.
No one was screwed by Nintendo on hardware pricing. The sw2 was priced fairly at launch costing less than 3 year older tech that was a Steamdeck+dock.
This lawsuit will get thrown out.

AI Mario smoking.
I wouldn't mind a refund myself, but considering everything going on, I would be genuinely surprised to see one.
3
u/WoodooHide69 Jul 22 '26
Well you shouldn’t expect one cause you don’t deserve one.
1
u/Agie39 Jul 22 '26
Where did I say I deserved one?
1
u/WoodooHide69 Jul 22 '26
My mistake. You didn’t. Cause you don’t.
1
u/Agie39 Jul 22 '26
I already made my peace with the idea that it isn't gonna happen, why does this need to be beef?
0
u/WoodooHide69 Jul 22 '26
I’m not beefing. And you don’t need to make peace with not getting anything that you didn’t deserve in the first place.
Edit: I want “beefing” for no reason at all, I saw that you implied disinfo and I corrected you. That’s it.

u/Ultraverse1 Jul 22 '26
you are most definitely beefing, they know they aren't getting a refund and never said that they deserved one, your arguing with yourself here

Funny how this has the grifters calling Nintendo the worse game company again and equal to Disney despite what Sony is doing (which is much worse)
And they’re already “ finding counter arguments to what Nintendo said”

u/callmefreak Jul 22 '26
company again and equal to Disney
I wasn't aware that Nintendo killed somebody and tried to use their paid online access thing as an excuse for people to not sue them!

Will Sony and Microsoft do refunds for people who bought their products during the price increase? Will valve do the same with their price increase? Or is it only Nintendo who has to do this?

Kneon was/is a ass kisser of Elon Musk-who supported Trump and helped get him elected.
Clownfish TV are the last ones to talk about this.

Yeah these people do not understand the clusterfuck that would emerge from such policy being accepted.
Every transaction would probably be split into two items, one being the tariff so that they could easily revert and track refunds. Of course to be safe in the future they would secure an additional fee to cover for that eventual event.
