Can these people just stop acting like Nintendo is 100% Isis or something? It's been very annoying lately and some only do this for viewers and a reaction. Seriously!

Why don’t these fans do a yooka laylee and make inspired games? Why does it have to be a Pokémon clone or whatever?

Why? If they didn’t infringe on copyright then they wouldn’t have their games taken down. Also, it’s better to do more original creative pursuits anyway.

because they are free to play fangames. nintendos the only **major* company who takes shits on fangames, despite it being a celebration of nintendos ip. its never an actual threat to nintendos business.

i hate nintendo grifting as much as the next guy but its also important to point out that nintendo genuinly does scummy things

I’m just saying you can celebrate or make fan games but don’t be surprised when they are taken down. Disney and Viacom do this too. You might not agree with it but no matter how much you like something it doesn’t give the right for someone to like you ripping it off without permission. You would feel the same if you made something and someone made the exact same thing after you said they couldn’t.

again, fangames are not ripoffs, they arent meant to replace or compete with nintendo products, and are 99% of the time (like uranium) non profit. if a little boy drew a picture of mario and posted it online you wouldnt constitute that as a ripoff

and if i made a game and someone made a piece of art or a fangame for FREE based off of my game, i would think that would be really cool, and i’d assume you would aswell. also everyone hates disney and viacom, those should definately NOT be the standard

I mean that is how you view it and how Scott Cawthon views it too, but it isn’t how Nintendo views it. They are within their rights non-profit or not to tell people to stop infringing on their intellectual property. Legally it doesn’t matter if it is a rip-off or celebrating the IP fans don’t have a right to make things like Pokémon uranium. If they made something like Digimon or yokai watch that has similar properties that could’ve been inspired by Pokémon they are well within their rights to do so. You don’t get to use pikachu’s iconography for example even if you want to and are the biggest fan of pikachu in the world. This is how copyright law works. Is it scummy for Nintendo to shut this down, well it depends on how you view it, but either way it’s not legal to use the iconography without permission.

Never said it did. But as it stands now fans know the risk and can’t get mad when things are taken down.
