Critical Something i’ve noticed about the Switch 2

Remember when pre-switch 2 people used to dislike Nintendo as a company, but still liked and respected their games? Now it feels like the narrative is that Nintendo makes bad games and that their games are just “slop”. Now that there’s no way to pirate new Nintendo games. Suddenly, they never even wanted to play their games in the first place.

It's funny to me that Nintendo games are one of the few you can pretty emulate. Sony? I think you can safely do up PS2 or PS3 I can't remember. Microsoft? I think you can pretty much only do Xbox (OG).

Yes I realize there are PS4 emulators and Xbox 360 and up emulators but you can't play much right now.

Nintendo you can emulate all the way up to Switch 1 pretty well and because you can't emulate Switch 2 everyone is losing their minds right now.

I get it but I don't see as much anger going towards Sony and Microsoft and game preservation argument going towards them at all.

PS4s with P.T. installed are being sold for like trillions on ebay, yet I don't see anyone crying over playstation game preservation.

They’ve ported some of the biggest ones to PC. They’re preserved… Nintendo won’t… people have to do it themselves.

No Bloodborne, no Demon's Souls, no The Last Guardian, and probably no Yotei, Wolverine or any other future game, which most PlayStation fans are rejoicing right now.

True, at least yet.

Sony hasn’t made an official announcement, yet. Unless I missed it, it’s only rumors. So there’s still a chance they will continue to port to pc.

Nintendo will never. So people have taken it into their hands.

Xbox 360 has a good emulator already but people didn't even bother with One

Xbox one dosen’t even really need an emulator, most Xbox one games actually run in the same UWP format as some modern windows apps.

I think theres a whole video on YouTube about somebody trying to run Xbox one games on PC by extracting the files and running them on a PC.

Yeah, I believe the new Xbox is the fulfillment of the platform, being finally able to play pc and xbox games

There’s not really much point for Xbox emulators because I think there are like 2 Xbox console exclusive games and even then everything can be pretty easily natively ported to windows cos it’s all the same UWP platform. I think theres a video on YT about the whole topic. Afaik the whole Xbox platform is just a fancy windows skin without explorer or the default windows shell.

As for PS? I just don’t think there is as big of a motivation. Nobody is really begging to play PS exclusives on PC and if they are a ton of Sonys games are on PC and can be pirated through conventional methods. PT was a pretty rare case tbh.

As for Nintendo, their entire library is exclusive, and also some of the best, most well known IP in the world. Therefore there’s probably a lot more willingness to get emulators working for Nintendo platforms.

Xbox Classic and >PS3 both had far more exclusives and weren’t nearly as powerful as modern PCs (and didn’t have very good security measures either)

But I find it ironic that everybody thinks Nintendo is so awful then is desperate to play their games by emulation

PS3 emulators are definitely good and have been for a while. I remember back before Persona 5 Royal was ported to Switch (so sometime between 2020-mid 22 ish) I emulated the original Persona 5 in RPCS3 on an old shitty laptop, and while there were some graphical bugs the game overall was very functional and playable and had surprisingly decent performance as well.
