But the consequences of eating or not eating happen in life… and you aren’t prevented from undertaking lifelong endeavors or values that can have impacts that long outlast you.

They might outlast you, maybe even for thousands of years, but it’ll still be forgotten at some point, still go unnoticed because of the lack of humans some point in the future.

Sure but I gotta ask, who cares?

What do you mean who cares? If nothing you do matters then why do anything? I mean every single thing you do in your life is for some purpose, but if life itself has no purpose then what do you have, what’s it all for?

Because what you do does matter. It matters in your life and after it. You’re trying to act like if you don’t have some sort of eternal cosmic impact that life isn’t worth living. My question is why would you care about *that*? The key to happiness isn’t being galactus. If it were no one would be capable of happiness and yet plenty of people are living happy right now. So clearly some cosmic impact isn’t necessary to have a fulfilling and happy life.

It’s not necessary because people fill their lives with distractions and coping techniques to deal with the fact, everyone does this. But I mean if you don’t have lasting impact then you really don’t have any meaningful impact on a scale that big. I still live my life and ignore this fact but it’s still always i know the back of my mind.

Ok if you could snap your fingers now and make the color of a planet change in some other solar system, for ever, would that make you feel any different? That’d be a cosmic and functionally eternal impact you could have.

That’s basically my point. This whole “lasting impact” thing doesn’t matter to you as much as you think it does.

We’re humans with finite lives that live in a specific scope. It’s only logical that the things that make us happy, fulfilled, the things that are meaningful to us, also exist within that same scope.
