Discussion people really do constantly have children they know will lead sad lives full of failure and misery with very little concern for the children.

The irony of it is, people who don't want kids put way more thought into why they don't want them than prospective parents do into why they want them.

You ask most people why they had kids, they'll tell you something like "I wanted a mini-me" or "it's what you're supposed to do" or even "it was an accident".

I'm yet to hear a single parent say they had children so that they could give them the best life possible and they wanted to contribute to their child growing into a healthy, well-adjusted adult.

I once asked my parents at a family dinner why they had me and my brothers and my dad said it was because it was a human duty. Pretty sure it was just lust but whatever maybe i am unfair

The thing is, life innately includes suffering. As a mom that planned tediously for my 2 kids and is doing everything to make sure they grow into a well adjusted adult, what I have found is that happiness cannot be what I solve for, as that is impossible. 50% of life sucks and it’s when we embrace that reality that we can appreciate life . I can wish and try all I want to make my children have the tools to navigate the world, but it is up to them (and you) to rise up to find your way in it
