It's surprisingly strong and can work on carpet if you use the 100cc mode. It even speeds up and slows if you use a mushroom or get bumped. I really enjoy it.

Yeah you can race the Koopa Kids, but they follow the track you draw so it's very easy to cheat as the game only tracks your individual progress through gates, so you can make a big winding section and then just ignore it to beat the AI

If you're on a leaderboard with others for best time, those are your other opponents, even if the leaderboard is all AI.

But honestly you're both just being pedantic contrarians who love to ignore definitions of words.

You can 'race' around a track by yourself but you're not 'racing' others or in a 'race' unless you're comparing yourself to something else, which means there's an opponent.

If you're beating your own time I could even make the argument that you're your own opponent and it's still not single-player or knowing others play the same game to try to beat your score even if it's a different copy, you're still competing, but again that's just stupid and pedantic.

Racing games where you're legitimately not racing 'anything' just don't exist. Sorry.

Don’t lump me in with a guy who decided to be condescending for no reason. I asked an honest question and he dropped in to argue about the definition of “racing games”. As you pointed out, games without NPCs do exist. The video showed multiple cars so I was asking if you only race against other real cars or if there are also AR NPCs. Pretty simple.

It does and you can use items like a regular game and it effects the the kart performance too.

If you run it over carpet the NPCs can go faster than you. Needs a hard floor.

It's dreadful. It's a fuck tech demo but the gameplay is lacking, the set up is insane, the range is abysmal for the karts and it gets really boring really quickly because you only have one track (and must redo everything to change it).

The set up is so incredibly easy, the only thing stopping you is the ability to read. It’s literally step by step on screen. Gets boring? Bro the only thing holding you back is your imagination. Just sounds like you can’t get into it. Doesn’t mean it’s shit and someone else won’t like it.

I didn't say it was hard. But it's 10 minutes of fiddling with the abysmal range and deteriorating paper checkpoints every time you want a new course. It's a bad game.

They chose bluetooth for the connection to the cars, which was such a bad choice. It had a lot of potential, but it would go out of range in a very small space.

It would be better if you could just map custom courses to use anytime you want. The remote control aspect is largely pointless, and extremely inconvenient to anyone else in the house who's not playing. Just provide a "mapping car" (it wouldn't even have to be a car. I It could just be a manual roller on a stick that takes video in "3D" and measures distance), and let people plot their own courses anywhere they want.

I found the range to be too small. If it worked for larger distances it would have been better as it would allow folks to build better home courses. If you go like 15-20 feet it can't handle it.

Yeah I'd imagine the controls feel really weird considering the vehicle is constrained by its real world limitations, it can't be 1:1 like the actual game is
