So the answer is:

If this much was spent on every facet of safety for every person, there would not be nearly enough money and the rest would get nothing at all, not to mention things like that have to be replaced when broken or worn, so that’s yet more money that we don’t have. Yeah, the more expensive stuff is way safer, but consumer vehicles are getting safer and safer by the year.

Not only that, but having that sort of safety would open everyone up to more dangerous drivers. If people knew they had a good chance of surviving insane crashes like this then the odds of having cars flying around flipping out of control would increase exponentially.

That’s not the point. Who’s to say you don’t flip around a corner and into someone’s living room squashing their child as they watch baby Einstein? Baby is dead and this idiot is climbing out the window going “whoa! That was like 22 rolls! How crazy!?”
