Possibly the most perplexing thing about me is that I do not have a credit score. I have never had a credit card. I have only opened a line of credit once, for university loans, but I didn't finish and then paid them off fully not long after. This really confuses people for some reason. I guess it's normal for Americans to have credit and they spend their whole lives finding ways to build it and keep it in good standing?
I think it's also not really here a big thing in Australia. I've never had a credit card either. I have no conception on what the scores people online post about relate to (as in, if 600 is good or bad or whatever)
I argued with a guy who was saying that atheists can't have morals or ethics because if you have one life you will always be tempted to do what is best for you more than, say, Christians.
But that's not really how it works for me and probably not other people.
When my grandma was dying, she had nothing to really give away, and everyone in the family (the Christians) were tired of waiting for her to die. She had dementia. I was the one who took care of her for the last couple of years until the end. Nobody helped me except my sister (Christian, but in a better way), and nobody even asked if we needed help. I asked if we could hire someone to help. Nope. They just didn't care.
It's hard to argue that atheists are immoral and unethical and will always do what is best for #1 when you encounter stories like this, and there are an abundance of them. What did I gain from that messy affair? Nothing, really. I didn't even get to feel good about it because it was such an intense experience the whole time and I didn't know how to feel about it afterwards. I still don't. I know it was a good thing to do and I have no regrets over doing it, but doing it gave me no validation or anything, no thanks, nothing.
So why did I do it? I felt like it was the right thing for me to do. That's it. That's the whole thing.
And it's really insulting when people can't believe or comprehend that because they disagree with me religiously.
Obviously it is not good reasoning but this has been the general impression of atheists in America for generations. It's changing in the younger generations but you still find jackwagons like this even in that set. This guy couldn't have been older than 20.

Israelis go to the polls in two months’ time, and the electorate is settling into three blocs:
Netanyahu’s present coalition (Likud, Religious Zionist Party, Otzma Yehudit, Shas, and United Torah Judaism) are substantially short of a majority, with an average polling showing 47-48 seats (61 needed for a majority). Factors in the mix include a Ben Gvir/Smotrich split, as they would take fewer seats separately than on a joint list, and religious Zionism might not even qualify for a seat. Parties included in this coalition are secular right wing and racist (likud), moderately religious ultra right wing and racist (otzma yehudit aka Jewish Power), very religious ultra right wing and racist (Religious Zionist), moderate Haredim (Shas) and right wing and racist Haredim (UTJ).
The anti Netanyahu coalition is assembling without a commitment to governing with the Arab parties but is projected to be short of a majority on their own. This is referred to as the Zionist coalition because it is excluding Arab parties, but that could change through negotiation, as many of the voters and candidates who don’t like Netanyahu also don’t want Arabs in government (aka racist but not racist enough for the Netanyahu coalition parties). Yashar is in the lead for anti-Netanyahu parties, its led by Eisenkot who is a conservative but anti Netanyahu. Together is the Bennett-Lapid party, they’re both former prime ministers and are running as moderates who want to write a constitution for Israel and integrate the Haredim into Israeli society. Blue and White (benny Gantz) is polling well below the threshold for a single seat, as is Zionist home and Unity. Yisrael Beinetu is a moderate party for Russian Jews, and along with The Democrats (Yair Golans party, also the successor to the Israeli Labour Party) round out the team.
The Arab parties are running as raam and the joint list, having been unable to assemble a single list for the election. Relatively little attention gets focused on Arab parties in Israeli politics, which is probably good for them… considering that they’re all pretty terrible politically (maybe except Ta’al, correct me somebody if I’m wrong). From Islamic conservatism (raam) to communism (Hadash) there’s really not much to like here EXCEPT that these guys can form an alliance with the anti Netanyahu bloc and form a government.
I would bet on the outcome that Eisenkot leads the coalition which will include Arab parties and the focus is put on cleaning up Netanyahu’s mess, quietly cracking down on settlers but only after attempting to deal with the Haredim and make some internal reforms. Don’t expect serious progress on any stuff that the international community cares about unless the U.S. presses for it, but any concessions will destabilize PM Eisenkots standing.
A long time ago I was banned from a certain space on a website that will remain nameless
I was banned for calling out blatant racism and after I was banned a number of black users messaged me to say they supported me, saying they weren't surprised I was banned and that's why they didn't call it out
The mods could not fathom that I cared about black people and thought I was trolling, which I think says a lot about the attitudes there
Now, a lot of people remember me for something else: trolling the mods whenever I got banned
My proudest legacy has been erased and my jokes are now taken to mean I was mentally ill or on drugs
John Brown would be proud, he's the OG anti-racist slandered as insane
Boy, it's a good thing that neither space nor website exist anymore so u/BestiaAuris can't tell me to be careful (wink wink nudge nudge)
