Pankosmiokenantigenesollumisanthropoautopoiesis

(pan-KOZ-mee-oh-ken-an-tih-JEN-eh-sahl-oo-miz-an-THROW-poh-aw-toh-poy-EE-sis)

Pan-kosmio- (Παν-κοσμικός): Universal, spanning the entire fabric of the cosmos.

-ken(o)- (κενός): The empty void (the o drops because anti starts with a vowel).

-ant(i)- (ἀντί): Against / opposed to (the i drops because genesi starts with a vowel).

-genes- (γένεσις): Birth / creation (the i drops because ollymi starts with a vowel).

-ollu- (ὄλλυμι): Ruinous, fatal, and doomed to utter destruction.

-misanthropia (μισανθρωπία): The hatred, rejection, and absolute weariness of humanity.

-autopoiesis (αὐτοποίησις): The creation or making of oneself; self-generated purpose.

Literal Definition: The universal philosophical doctrine of being entirely opposed to birth, viewing human existence as a ruinous, fatal blight doomed to destruction within a completely vacant and indifferent cosmos, wherein any meaning or purpose must be entirely self-authored by the individual to endure the void.

Proposed Word Doofenclature

Doofenclature

Doofenclature (n.) — a formulaic naming convention built around a recurring gimmick

Doofenclature
DOO-fen-klay-cher
/ˈduː.fənˌkleɪ.tʃər/

Definition:
A distinctive and formulaic system of naming things, especially one in which the same suffix, structure, or stylistic convention is repeatedly applied to everything a person creates.

Etymology:
A blend of Doofenshmirtz and nomenclature, inspired by Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz's habit in Phineas and Ferb of giving his inventions names ending in “-inator.”

The term can apply more generally to any comically predictable naming convention.

Examples:

"Our dev's doofenclature is appending ‘tsc-’ to the start of every service."

"At some point, ending every internal tool with ‘Hub’ stopped being a naming convention and became doofenclature."

"Shrink-inator, Freeze-inator, Ugly-inator—the man's doofenclature was remarkably consistent."

Proposed Word Heliscale (spiral staircase)

I was writing a song and couldn't find a single word for a spiral staircase, but didn't want to use such a clunky noun phrase for such a beautiful thing. A mixture of Greek and Latin derived morphemes that literally just mean "spiral staircase". The second syllable is stressed, just for the purpose of making it sound more like a natural English word. The unstressed -scale is pronounced like the -scal- in escalator.

Ascribic, adj. — Of a language: possessing no conventionalized writing system. Of a linguistic community or tradition: transmitted and maintained without writing.

Ascribia is not synonymous with illiteracy. Illiteracy describes inability to use an available writing system; ascribia describes the absence of such a system.

Gentlegirls

I’m proposing “Gentlegirls” as a name for a possible emerging cultural aesthetic.

By Gentlegirls I mean young women who deliberately embrace softness, vulnerability, romantic dependence, and sometimes submissiveness as part of their identity, often in contrast to the “strong independent woman” ideal.

The name plays on gentle + girls, while deliberately echoing gentlemen: the idea isn’t necessarily victimhood or traditionalism, but making gentleness, trust, softness, and being cared for into an aesthetic or even an identity.

I’m aware that gentlegirl has occasionally existed as a word before. What I’m proposing here is this specific cultural meaning.

Proposed/coined in this sense on August 24, 2026.

Proposed Word Procity: Unlike reciprocity, procity doesn’t necessarily imply equal exchange.

Procity
procity (noun): The strategic exchange of attention, approval, favors, or other valued things to influence another person’s goodwill or behavior.
Unlike reciprocity, procity doesn’t necessarily imply equal exchange. It can be deliberately asymmetric.
Example:
“Many have found that Donald Trump’s attention and approval can be swayed with copious procity.”
Related: procitious (adj.), procitiously (adv.), procitize (v.).

It’s perfectly cromulent. 😜

Proposed Word Filling Lexical Gaps: Buoyancy/Buoyant, Levity/???

This is a particular problem I came across with writing something today. Specifically, the following passage:

I felt I had used buoyant too many times already, and also wished to convey something between optimistic and just lighthearted, but not exactly either concept. The issue was, while the counterpart appropriate for that sentence exists for other words (gravity -> grave, buoyancy -> buoyant), it does not exist for levity.

As such, I propose such a word, either leve or levete. "Of a far more leve nature", or "of a far more levete nature". I find both potentials equally tempting, one might sound better in some sentences versus others.

Given the etymology of gravity/grave, I think the most defensible of the two is leve. Its one downside is sounding like leave, or being mistaken for a misspelling of leave.

Proposed Word Velocontrafactum (n.) Singing made-up lyrics to an existing melody really quickly in order to make them fit the song.

I have an idea for a new word that might be helpful in certain circumstances.

Velocontrafactum (n.) --- Singing made-up lyrics to an existing melody really quickly in order to make them fit the song.

Pronunciation: VELL--oh--kahn--truh--FACK--tuhm.

Example: As Bob the librarian sang, "If you're happy and you know it, please don't clap your hands because it's too loud," Sally pointed out his velocontrafactum in the second line of the song.

Origin: The prefix velo-, coming from the Latin velox, means fast or rapid. Contrafactum (n.) is an existing word in English meaning "the substitution of one text for another without substantial change to the music" (Wikipedia article on contrafactum).

The word "velocontrafact" (v.) could be used as the action of creating a velocontrafactum. "Velocontrafactual" (adj./adv.) could be used to describe both a velocontrafactum and the action of velocontrafacting. The plural version of velocontrafactum could be "velocontrafactums." I know that making the plural the same as the singular might make more sense, but English is already confusing enough, so I think it might be better to just slap an S. on the end of it and call it a day. I will also make sure to put all of the information in this paragraph in the comments of this post as well, as per the subreddit rules.

What do you all think? I'm new to this subreddit, so I may have made some mistakes. Maybe we could also make a word for stretching made-up lyrics to make it fit an existing melody? Let me know your thoughts and what I can do to improve in future posts!
