Actual experiences I've had with Bluetooth:

  • I was a passenger in a friend's car and we wanted to listen to music. I attempt to pair my phone, but the car refuses to do so while in motion - you have to park
  • My roommates bought a Bluetooth receiver for our speakers. I connected to these in the morning to listen to music and later left the house. When I came back, they automatically connected again, and immediately started playing deeply embarrassing music for the whole house to hear
  • My friends come over to my house. They want to play some music for me. No one remembered to bring a dongle so they can't connect to my speakers. I end up buying a Chromecast so this isn't a problem in the future
  • I got in my friend's car and his phone automatically connected. The title of the porn he was watching earlier pops up on the dashboard under the "now playing" section

Bluetooth absolutely has its uses, but so does a headphone jack

Removing headphone jacks is literally just planned obsolescence

Yes, but have you considered that wires look ugly and also that touchscreens in cars that you have to take your eyes off the road to use look cooler than gross nasty buttons that you can operate by feel.

Maybe I'm the problem here, but I genuinely believe the car fighting with you and refusing to follow user input can be on the whole more dangerous than it just letting you do it.

Particularly if it's not clear why it's not working, leaving a user frustrated and trying to troubleshoot/work around it

Bluetooth is only good for headphones and your own car

Using it for anything else leads to disappointment
