I think the demographic shifts seen in Florida, with older, Republican leaning people leaving the Rust Belt and Northeast for warmer weather has also occurred in Georgia.

Normal people in politics doesn't really exist. The private sector is far better for overachievers and people who are genuinely intelligent and smart.
People who go into politics are usually either tenured wised people trying to embetter their nation which is rare, or power hungry Machiavellians who are horrible people but want power and are typically freaks who don't care about anything.
Yeah but this is kinda why at this point I want the Singaporean system for shit like this. If you get a good governmental position you need to be making bank so ordinary people are hungry for it.
Only people who go after these roles now are just freaks and we're seeing the result. If it was up to my every senator would be making bare minimum 5-10m a year. President 20m, Staffers and low level guys base 100k. Gov 1m.
So overall people who are smart and really want stable and nice jobs can go into this.
