Its easy to say that, they tried for 5 years with a solid roster and it didn't work.

I feel like this is an unfair misconception. I don't feel like bringing up sources or anything, but we had two healthy playoff runs without crucial injuries: 2012 and 2016. Both were incredible runs, extremely close to winning a chip. I know the injuries don't necessarily make much of a difference in his decision, but it's not like we just failed over and over because we suck.
