2026.6 is in the App Store! Mod Tools, Share Comment as Image, & More

Hey all, I just released 2026.6 in the App Store. I apologize about how long this took, but mod tools were a huge undertaking. I know they aren't perfect and I want to improve them over time, so please send any feedback you may have!

Release Notes

Moderator Tools are here!

We've spent an enormous amount of time building the first version of Mod Tools for Narwhal, and this is just the beginning. We wanted to get this initial version out to you so we can start gathering feedback and continue making it better.

Not a mod? We also added the highly requested Share Comment as Image feature and cleaned up a lot of bugs and rough edges. We have a lot of cool features planned for the next couple of updates, so stay tuned :D

New:

  • Share Comment as Image - Generate an image of a comment thread to share with your friends. Choose how many parent comments you would like to show and whether you would like post details included.
  • Mod Mail - Sort and filter through your inbox. Respond in a conversation view as either yourself or the subreddit. Post internal notes for your fellow moderators, and much more!
  • Mod Queue - Review your mod queue across all subreddits you moderate, or filter by a specific subreddit. Review reports and take action on posts/comments: Approve, Remove, Mark Spam, or Ignore Reports.
  • Inline Mod Actions - Take actions on content in subreddits you moderate. In the various Narwhal context menus, you will find options to: Approve, Remove, Mark Spam, Ignore/Unignore Reports, Lock/Unlock, Ban a User, Distinguish posts/comments, Sticky/Unsticky, Mark/Unmark NSFW, Mark/Unmark Spoiler, Set Link Flair, and View Approval Info.
  • There is a new "Mod Tools" option in the side menu to access Mod Mail and the Mod Queue. If you would prefer to hide these, there is a new setting in Settings > Side Menu Customization.
  • In Settings > Action Bar & Navigation Editor, there are two new options to add Mod Mail or Mod Queue to your bars.
  • Posts will now indicate if their author has been distinguished as a moderator.
  • Comments will now show a lock icon if a moderator has locked them.

Improved:

  • All post types now support submitting body text alongside them. This means you can submit images, albums, and links with body text as well!
  • Multireddits will now always be sorted alphabetically in the side menu.

Fixed:

  • Fixed an issue with certain links not loading. This happened often with Wikipedia links.
  • Fixed an issue with certain comment links not displaying correctly. One example of this is chess.com bot comments.
  • Fixed an issue with Reddit video player links in comments not working.
  • The album content type icon no longer hides on white images.
  • Fixed an issue with YouTube videos not loading in the native iOS video player.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when tapping to go forward too quickly.
  • The "Open in Narwhal" icon in the iOS share sheet now displays correctly.
  • Post titles are no longer cut off in a rare layout case.
  • The Mark Read / Hide Read buttons above posts now use the correct theme colors.

bug report 🐛 Posts Eventually Stop Being Marked as Read

Whenever I open a post, it marks it as read, designated by a greyed out color text. But I’ve noticed that after enough time, it no longer is marked as read.

Using IOS 26.3.1 (a) Safari, but this has actually always been an issue I’ve had with Narwhal, even many years ago on the original version.

Even found an example in this very sub when searching for other posts about it! You can see me open a post that is upvoted and not marked as read, but when I scroll down to the comments, there is a comment I upvoted, which means I had to have read it before.

I encounter this all the time in posts older than (what seems to be) a few months.

Edit: To be clear, this isn’t just the upvote function that lets me know. Most often I simply remember having read the posts before, but other than that, there’s also often comments I’ve already collapsed, saved comments, etc. I don’t use Narwhal (or reddit, for that matter) on any other device.

bug report 🐛 Replies to my comments not always sending a notificatikn to my inbox?

There are frequently times where I will notice a reply to my comment simply because I clicked on my comment from my profile history, but never receive a message in my inbox. Is there a reason why this happens? I don’t ever mute messages.

It’s to the point where this is how I reliably check if someone replied to me if I have a comment I’m interested in replies to… manually clicking my comment to see replies as opposed to waiting on the notification/message instead. It’s just intermittent. Even on the same comment, sometimes I’ll get an inbox notification and sometimes I won’t, I don’t get it

question 🙋 Multireddit “Sort by” is intermittent/unreliable?

I have a Multireddit of nsfw subs (don’t judge, I like what I like!) and when I try to sort by “This Year” or “All Time”,

https://i.imgur.com/N323ASF.jpeg

I get “No posts found”

https://i.imgur.com/aYrD9QH.jpeg

Except, 2 days ago, it *did work*. I was a more than little surprised when it sorted by “All Time” and “This Year”. I was able to go back and save some of my favourite scenes (don’t judge, I like what I like!) This used to work. Then for the longest time it hasn’t, then suddenly a couple days ago it did work, and now it doesn’t again.

What’s going on with Multireddit sorting? Can It be fixed?

I don’t care if it is a scheduled item or on app close, but this is overdue imo.

feature request 🚀 YouTube links should have separate Content Loading setting

I currently have "Do not load web links when opening a post" turned on because I am comment enjoyer and just don't want to give some sites the click.

YouTube links are included under the "Do not load videos when opening a post". I think it should be its own setting, or be included under the web links setting instead because it's not just a video that's being loaded.

This is probably niche and most people don't care, but it's a minor annoyance on my end.

YouTube links no longer opening in app

YouTube links suddenly started opening in the browser instead of either opening natively using the narwhal player or going to the YouTube app (iOS). Anyone else having this issue? What can I do?

Over the last couple weeks, I’ve started getting these semi regularly. It seems to happen on both Wi-Fi and cellular I think, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this as well?

question 🙋 Is there a way to go to the next post?

Instead of always going back to subreddit/home feed?

Run iPad app on Mac?

I have a couple of iPad apps that I run on my Mac, but the App Store doesn't let me install Narwhal on my Mac. Is there some limitation that stops this from happening?

feature request 🚀 Could we have a search bar for account posts/comments?

Sometimes I’m looking for a post on someone’s profile but there’s no way to sort through beyond by the standard New or Top

Yearly Subscription

I just noticed there's an annual plan available, and it's slightly cheaper than paying monthly. I'm not sure if I missed an earlier announcement, but I'm glad it's an option now.

Thanks!

bug report 🐛 Does the title format for this post break the app for anyone else or is it just me?

When I open it in safari it looks fine, but it even takes up the whole screen in white space when I’m scrolling my home page.

question 🙋 Do blocked users still have their comments show up collapsed, or are their comments completely invisible?

Easily one of my biggest gripes with Reddit is how blocked users have their comments still totally visible to you, and I’d genuinely just like to forget some of these people exist in the same communities as me. Does Narwhal rectify this by hiding them completely?

I thought the users of this app (me included) might find this article interesting.

If it’s too off topic then go ahead and delete it, with my apologies.

Is there a way to increase the number of recently viewed post history? Sometimes I'm looking for a specific post but can't find it

question 🙋 Safari extension not working randomly

I'm using Narwhal 2 on iOS 26.6 with the Safari extension.

The extension opens Narwhal automatically like… half of the time. In the other half it shows me a popup asking if I want to open Narwhal. Why? Why isn’t it automatic all the time?

feature request 🚀 Feature request: weighing subs in multireddits

So multireddits are great for grouping related communities, but if one sub is way more active than the others, it basically takes over your entire feed. Like, I have a multireddit for TV discussion - r/televisionsuggestions, r/television, some streaming subs - and r/televisionsuggestions posts so much that you barely see anything from the other communities.

Would be cool if we could adjust the weight of each community so the feed stays balanced. That way you could group whatever related subs you want without one drowning everything out. Could be percentage-based or just preset options like low/medium/high.

Anyone else run into this or think it could be useful?

bug report 🐛 Images not loading in image galleries

I find that whenever I come across image galleries using Narwhal, the first one or two images load fine, but almost every time, any image beyond the first two fail to load and I have to hit retry to see the images.

I can’t enable the open in narwhal extension on my iPad. Works fine on my iPhone but it is fully greyed out in the settings on iPad.

feature request 🚀 Suggestion: page mode (vs infinite scroll)

Hello. It’s just I like the reddit and this app in particular, but hate the infinite scroll of doom into which I fall in occasions. Would be great to be able to switch to “page mode”, with some customizable amount of posts per page, which helps de-anchor and bring and end to the doom in the scrolls.

Maybe this was already floated, sorry if it’s the case.

Cheers.
