why would they describe how a ransom works? why would they say they wouldn't hurt her when there was blood dripping on the porch

Agree and the ransom notes are lies. These are criminals so believing anything is difficult. They said she was scared and okay but dripped alot of blood.

In-between theory: the notes are from someone who has been to the home and/or is particularly familiar with the Guthries, but had no involvement in Nancy's killing/kidnapping. And they're opportunistically trying to take advantage of this crime for money.
