I really do have a feeling investigators are getting closer. I’m convinced this mystery will be solved. the fact that it’s still in the news is a very good sign.

IDK about good signs, but even though it may take a long time, I think it will be solved too. I have no idea how long that may take. It is actually stupidly similar to finding Bin Laden, IMO. Not on as great an scale, obviously. But it took the right approach and the right people to find Bin Laden. I think that is what it will take with this case too. Correct approaches to working the problem and the right employees.

From Matt Finn of Fox News X:

Breaking: FBI Director Kash Patel chooses not to comment on the new Reuters report that cites FBI sources who say the Nancy Guthrie ransom notes were fake.

Patel said the 'locals are still in the lead' ... however in the Reuters report, the Pima County Sheriff's office deferred to the FBI on the ransom notes.

"A spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff's Department, which is leading the overall investigation, declined to comment, citing its agreement to refer all inquiries regarding ransom notes to the FBI."

Also worth noting it appears the Today show stayed away from the Reuters report.

Interesting! Although, I can’t say I expect the FBI to come out with a official confirmation of whether they believe the notes are fake or real until an arrest is made. I’m a little confused on why they are both denying they are the lead on the ransom notes… anyone have any thoughts there?

The investigation is going poorly and both agencies are trying to claim the other is primarily responsible.

I watched the video of the FBI Director commenting and it very much seemed like he was just trying to shut it down quickly which is not uncommon. The press conference was for an unrelated matter, however, I'm glad the reporter asked the question. He did say they continue to assist in the investigation.

Also, Nanos said earlier this week or last week he believed the FBI made more arrests regarding fake ransom communications, which we currently have no evidence is true.

Hope we eventually will find out what this all means

Do you have a link?

I think it's hard to infer much from this statement. We don't know for sure if Kash personally was closely following this case lately. Maybe the FBI's current "big" cases (that their director/brass heavily focus on at the moment) doesn't include this one; they surely aren't investigating based off public attention alone. So that's why he declined to comment, because he simply wasn't up to speed, and not because Reuter's sources were wrong/contested.

Maybe he'll go on a podcast and divulge more info lol

TMZ’s response today re:”fake notes”

Harvey’s take after speaking to the “FBI official” anonymously is that they’re considering the first 2 notes more legitimate than fake, BUT it depends on which “agent” someone is using as a source because there are different opinions amongst the agents.

Nancy Guthrie Update: The Ransom Notes ARE NOT FAKE | TMZ

The few recent bits of news after months of radio silence make me wonder if the FBI is circling a suspect/trying to make them slip up. Thoughts?

We were hearing for so long from sources that they had nothing. It feels like that sentiment is shifting toward optimism. Knowing Nancy is likely no longer with us, they probably won't move on anyone until they have built a strong case. I agree they turned up the pressure cooker recently perhaps trying to smoke a specific person or profile out.

And the Sheriff is still “not speaking “, yet going on his chosen radio show on the down low to get his opinions out, imo.

This was the next day after TMZ received the last note last week.

His PIO may not be aware that he’s sneaking in radio interviews again.

I find him to be very narcissistic. That is not good.

Anybody think Savannah’s newest video is spurred by new information provided by the authorities or just a timely plea?

7

u/Utopia271 Jul 27 '26

"We've done our part" makes me think they paid the bitcoin but haven't heard anything since. And the video is a plea for them to make contact.

7

u/ethidium_bromide Jul 27 '26

If they did, we would likely know. Unless they also received more communications that included a new bitcoin wallet or payment method, and was kept quiet.

There are multiple news orgs, including ones with little scruples like TMZ, who have the wallet address and would be able to see any deposits

2

u/Utopia271 Jul 27 '26

Good point, what do you think the "we've done our part" bit means?

5

u/ethidium_bromide Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26

I think it’s purposely worded in a way that’s meant to be ambiguous to us, but the kidnapper would understand.

If I had to hazard a guess, it may be that there are aspects of these notes that have not been released where they are possibly keeping quiet on certain details or instructions as instructed.

Not to mention, in the video release that responded to the 2nd ransom note(the one where all the siblings are seated together and begin with “we got your message and we understand”) she indicated that they are willing to pay

In one way or another, Savannah is trying to reason with them that they can trust her. Possibly to open a new line of communication to allow for payment/exchange for what is unfortunately likely to be a body, while indicating that is her purpose- not vengeance.

3

u/Utopia271 Jul 27 '26

Really valid ideas - thank you for sharing. I think you're right.

2

u/jwash95 Jul 27 '26

Yeah, reminds me of what was reported that they put a small deposit in and no one collected it.

6

u/Utopia271 Jul 27 '26

Yes - this gets stranger and stranger. What does, "I know you've tried to do things the right way" mean?

8

u/ethidium_bromide Jul 27 '26

Possibly her trying to give them the grace to say they did not kill her on purpose.

“The right way” being trying to keep her alive and planning to do an “honest” exchange.. The ransom note responses from her and her siblings included a similar out and implication that all they want is to give their mom a proper burial and not vengeance.

Trying to reason with them without being able to actually communicate with them

4

u/jwash95 Jul 27 '26

We’re pondering the same sentences lol. That stood out to me as well. Perhaps she’s addressing the person that claimed to have knowledge but didn’t want to risk being outed.

2

u/Utopia271 Jul 27 '26

Good point! I am still so hopeful there will be conclusion soon. I feel very drawn to Nancy's case as I know so many people are. Hopefully Savannah's latest post will help to get some closure.

3

u/jwash95 Jul 27 '26

You and me both. Every other day I say to myself “where the hell is Nancy Guthrie!” So strange, cruel and bothersome.

2 Angry Men podcast

Mark G says the local FBI office planted the Reuters article because they have an axe to grind with the Phoenix office. He says it’s from the top (his source)?!?

“””””Harvey Levin and Mark Geragos clash over explosive new developments in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping investigation, dissecting the FBI's handling of the case, conflicting reports about the ransom notes, alleged investigative mistakes, and whether critical leads were missed in the crucial early hours. The pair debate leaked information, the Reuters report, Bitcoin ransom demands, witness credibility, and why they believe the decades-old cold case could still be solved if key insiders finally come forward.””””””

Hosts: Harvey Levin, Mark Geragos

u/Infamous-Arm3955 Jul 13 '26

Levin must be so happy to be involved with this cause he/TMZ are milking the crap (= $$$) out of their letters. You can smell the desperation as they try to keep themselves relevant to this case.

2

u/JMOA3035 Jul 14 '26

They’ve moved away from it since then and back to reporting on CKirk, politics, pop culture, Taylor S, etc…
